Sign and Trade

Sign and Trade

Postby Nykmarc » Tue Feb 01, 2022 7:38 pm

I've noticed that the computer teams sometimes have players that are labeled as S + T. How does the sign and trade system work in the game?

Also, how does the sim engine determine who can guard the post versus who can guard the perimeter? Defensive ability seems very broad, and right now i can really only tell defense based on steals and blocks

The game uses a streamlined version of sign-and-trades similar to what you'd see in real life. Once free agency starts, you can enter the trade screen and see which FAs are available for a S&T and what their preferred contract terms are. To execute the S&T, the two teams will have to agree on compensation, and the trade has to be legal. The player also has to actually want to sign with his new team, so you can't just trade any of your expiring FAs for picks to a team they don't want to play for.

As for defense, all players have one defense rating, but their defensive ability is modified based on their height/weight compared to the player they're defending and where they are on the floor. For example, a 6-2 point guard with 10 defense is going to struggle in the post against a 7-foot scoring center, and that same center would struggle to keep up with a speedy guard on the perimeter.
