HC leaving to become OC/DC

HC leaving to become OC/DC

Postby WarEagle13 » Mon Jan 31, 2022 9:57 pm

I am seeing a lot of head coaches leaving schools to take the lesser job of OC or DC..ie not getting fired but apparently choosing to.

Example
Colorado HC goes 6-6 and makes a bowl game....leaves to become the OC at Auburn

Saw this 9 times in the first four rounds....

Second issue...round 5 appears to be "internal hires"...meaning I guess they promote a secondary or line coach up to be an OC or DC...I get that.....but there were 15 head coach internal hires, I would not expect these to happen except maybe in the rare case of a very low prestige schoool.....in these 15 internal hires straight to HC, it was the likes of programs like Arizona, Arkansas, Cal, Colorado, Duke, Nevada, Ohio State

also noticed in the case of Alabama for example...

total budget is 15mil - with staff salaries at 11 mil.

HC - 5 mil (4yr remain), OC - 3 mil (1yr remain) , DC - 3 mil (0 yr remain)

Alabama extended and resigned the DC for 5 yrs at 6mil.....and will be making more than the HC

Yea was never a fan over this 3 coach salary cap and seeing coordinators making more. More realism would be having individual position coaches and not be hung up on salaries, and be able to promote from your ranks when someone leaves

This was happening in the pro version too, infuriating for a head coach of a SB winning team to leave at all. Think HC's should pretty much stay unless fired esp in pros. In college I can see a HC/Coord leaving for a higher prestige job
