5-2 defense and 4-2-5

5-2 defense and 4-2-5

Why does the game produce DC's whose preference is a 5-2 defense?
I don't believe any team currently runs a 5-2 as a base defense, and haven't for years.
See depth charts at Ourlands, which lists defensive schemes on each teams page

Why is 4-2-5 defense not an option?
Teams actually use that scheme.

If the HC and the Coordinators have different preferences in scheme, whose scheme does the team run?

I notice this as well. Same for offensive. For this to be a modern college game, it’s doesn’t generate a lot of coaches who run spread. The website you provided is a great source for editing coaches for a mod though. Thanks!

You can probably use the nickel depth chart in stead of the 4-2-5 since it should be the same personnel. Then in the plays you call (or in custom plays) you can further tailor the actions of the players and how they rotate. I didn't want to have depth charts for every formation possible in the NFL/NCAA so at a certain point we started moving more towards plays and variations than adding more formations in the game.

We can certain tailor the game's coach genesis so that there are less 5-2 preferences... we can probably use that web site to try and get a more realistic split for offense and defense.

Then why have a 3-3-5 as an option?
Isn't that just the nickel version of the 3-4?

Most modern college base defenses are either 3-3-5 or 4-2-5 in order to combat the Spread/Multi Receiver offenses they everyone runs.

There are very few teams that even run a traditional 3-4 or 4-3 as their base.
Even if they list a 3-4 or 4-3 as their base, one of the LB positions has become a LB/S hybrid, and is really just a second SS.

Yea, the 3-3-5 got added before we decided to do more with plays and custom play creator.
