Any online leagues that DON'T require players own the sim?

Just curious if there are any leagues out there where ownership of the sim is NOT a requirement. I'm currently working on one for our basketball league as a side project and curious if anyone has pulled it off successfully. Would love to share ideas.

Not sure if this is along the lines of what you were looking for, but I've been a part of a football sim league for over 3 years that at its base does not require you to own the sim: https://forums.sim-football.com/

You create a player and do tasks to earn points to improve your attributes. You get drafted to a team and have contracts and all of that. We're entering our 44th season (each season lasts ~2 months).
