It is shown on the Budget Allocation Section, the Facilities Level may decrease if the expected amount isn't allocated.

On the other hand, are there any benefits to spending ABOVE the expected amount?

Yes the impact of the item is based on how good your facilities are (the letter grade A+ to F) and your overall spend vs every other school. You can find out where you rank in spend on each category on your School Info page so if you are putting the focus on amenities and you and a rival school both have an A - your impact will be greater if you spent more on the category than they did. By the same token you might have a B+ but if you are a top spender you might even get more of an impact than an A facility who spent way less. It won't make like a C facility more impactful than an A or anything like that but definitely can make a difference in close or even cases.

Oh okay, so it only affects overall impact (like in D+ vs. D+ cases) instead of spending actually increasing the Facilities level (from D+ to C-).

Thanks for the insight, I'm contemplating between upgrading my facilities and increasing my budget. I guess it's budget for now, then facilities later on once I reach a comfortable budget level.

Yes think of it as putting money into operating/maintaining the level of facilities you have (hence the reason for it to drop if you are not meeting the minimum requirements) but if you want a big new fancy building or whatever you need to ask the board to upgrade the facilities and drop millions of dollars into doing that.

Now that you put it that way, it makes perfect sense! Thanks a lot.

Update: Wow, I upgraded my facilities and the required spending just ballooned from $10,000 to $35,000. My team (Houston Christian) doesn't have that kind of budget lmao.

That happens. Spend what you can but save enough for recruiting.

What happened to the plan of getting the budget up first? :D :D :D

I got a comfy budget raise last season (from $127,000 to $133,500) then I said "I guess it's time to raise my facilities!" then BLAM, budget allocation hitting me hard (raised from D+ to C+)

Also, I didn't spend all of my budget last season (only 1 scholarship, target recruit committed early) so budget raise is a no go. Kind of a clown move from me though :D

Yes that is key and I have mentioned that in prior years - if you don't spend your budget the board is unlikely to give you more since they look at it and see you're not even using what you have.
