Still learning the basics of basketball tactics (fell down a rabbit hole with this one). If I change the matchups in the game does that count for both offense and defense. If I allocate my PG on their PG will they attack them on offense and mark them on defense? Then is it a case that if I want to attack a certain player but then mark them with a different player I swap matchups as soon as they have possession. I wonder how quick the game would respond to me changing the matchups if that was the case.

What you want to do is set your players in the positions you want them to play offensively and then use the matchup tab of the strategy tabs to set who you want them to guard defensively and then when there is a deadball and subs are made adjust them at that point so that you still have the matchups you want on the floor.
