Trade console is broken

I purchased this game on Steam and no matter what I try the trade console does not work for me.
When I click on "Trade Players" it takes me to the Trade Console, however I cannot select a team on either side of the trade.
I have also put players on the trading block but when I receive a trade offer it includes the message "Go to the trade screen to respond" however when I go to the trade screen it is the same blank trade screen that does not allow me to do anything.

I even tried downloading the game directly and playing the demo, however it had the same problem. This game has no value to me if you cannot do trades.
