Resolution Help

I just bought the game and I am having an issue getting my resolution set. My laptop has a resolution of 2240x1400. Whenever I set my game to full screen, I realize that there are black horizonal boxes above and below the game. In other words, the game is not completely full screen on my laptop. Is this the way the game is suppose to be? Its just hard to read some of the text. Any advice?

The game is designed to fit in 1920x1080 so its only going to be full screen if its a 16:9 ratio so if you have a resolution like that you can set it to that and it would be full screen - otherwise its going to scale with the boxes above and below
