I still have the 2023 game installed using a different association. The fouls were always high in this also but not near as bad as the 2024 game. I am 19 games into the season on the 2023 game. My team is Tulsa, They are okay 13-6. I lead the entire association in free throws made per game. I am 3rd in the entire association in free throws attempted per game which is 26 per game. Which is right at the top of the NCAAA average. Probably way high for my team. Free throws have one me several games LOL.In the 2024 game the fouls have increased.

For the last full season for my team, they had 576 free throws attempted in 32 games...an average of 18.0 per game. The season before that they had 533 free throws attempted in 33 games...an average of 16.15 FTA's per game. In the next season before that they had 592 FTA's in 31 games...an average of19.10. I play out almost all my games using 2D and only rarely sim a game. In most games, each team will typically get called for 12-20 fouls during the game. Occasionally one team might have more or less than that range in a game, but that's rare. I work the ref, but seldom yell at the refs and am judicious in how i work the refs, so seldom get called for a technical.

I seldom have players foul out of games. I do tend to protect my players...if they pick up their 2nd foul in the first half I often sit them the rest of that half or at least most of it to avoid them having 3 fouls in the first half...if they pick up their 3rd foul early in the 2nd half, again they most often sit past the midpoint of the 2nd half. And while that happens to a few players in most games, it doesn't happen to the extent that my team is hobbled by players being benched for long periods of time or too many players saddled with a lot of fouls. I typically play with Defensive Intensity in the range of 5-7 on a scale of 10...but if it's a close game and I'm behind in the last 2-5 minutes of a game, I sometimes crank it up to 10 hoping my D will stifle the other team and give me a chance to overtake them. I double team a player on the opponent's team all or nearly all of the game. I play M-2-M 60-80% of the game and one of the zone D's the other portions of the game. When I begin coaching a bad team, there is a slightly higher number of fouls by my team the first season while players are gaining experience with the defensive sets I'm using, but that increase isn't a lot more than in succeeding seasons when my players are more experienced.

I do agree with you, though, that it SEEMS to me that there are more fouls in the first 5-10 minutes of the 1st half than during any other 5-10 minute portion of games...but that's an IMPRESSION based on me hating to have players pick up 2 early fouls rather than proven fact and it doesn't happen every game...so I MAY be overly sensitive about early fouls and my mind overly impacted when it happens.

I just checked an association that has just ended the season and played 33 games with a team total of 653 free throws. That's an average of 19.78 free throws per game. I also play out every game in 2D and have not noticed high foul numbers but in an occasional game in which I am way over matched. I have Defensive intensity at the beginning of season at 5 but bump it up as the season goes along and players become more efficient with my defense. I rarely play zone unless I have too to stop a team killing me inside then I'll play 2-3 zone. My team is not that good loaded with 1 or 2 star players so they are not that great talent wise. So I feel these stats are about what I would expect.
I'm not sure of the issue with fouls and subs mentioned in this post but I'll just toss a couple of thoughts that may have already been mentioned or checked.

Fouls:
Defensive Intensity set high
Players Discipline ratings low
Knowledge of the defense low combined with above ratings.
Playing guys with low energy will foul more.

Subs:
Coach settings to high rotation and then run out of players at that position.
Coach settings to favor Youth or Veteran players may cause others to be passed over.
I also believe a players Defensive or Rebounding rating being high can cause a player to be auto subbed at one of the front court positions if the backups are poor in those ratings, plus combined with the coach rating of favoring Veteran or Youth players.

Again I'm not saying these are the reason your having these issues, just they can compound the problem.

I edited the post above as those numbers were actually Free Trows my team had taken not fouls. Below are the actual foul numbers for my team.

Total games = 33
Total fouls my team made = 472
Average fouls per game for my team = 14.3

Total free throws my team took = 653
Average free throws my took per game = 19.78

But I do adjust Defensive Intensity in a lot of games based on how things play out. If I'm not fouling much I'll bump intensity up 1 or 2 and if I'm starting to have 1 or 2 players with 2 fouls in the 1st half I'll bump Intensity down 1.
My team is not very deep and my backups are 1 or 1/2 star so I try to stay out of foul trouble with my starters who are mostly 2 star and 1.5 star players.
These are my results. I'm using the College Mod with Coaches.
Just curious how you started the associations you have the issues. Did you use the College Mod? If so did you use the Custom File with or without coaches? which number Custom File?
Have you tried an association just using the games default database instead of the mod just to try a couple of game. You can do this quickly by just skipping the summer and jump into the first few games of the season or just use Exhibition. Just trying to narrow down what could possibly be causing the issues you're having.

NCAAhoops: I know you're asking for how Qnextdoor and stefree7b have their associations set up (since they're getting results which seem to be out of the norm for CB2024). But just for comparison purposes, here's how I set up my most-recent multi-season CB24 associations [since the level of fouls/free throws for my teams in both associations (as well as all test associations I've run during beta testing--some with quite different association setups) have been close to yours (which are very close the mid-range of real life Division 1 teams)]:

Created the associations using Challenge Mode
Used: 03 Custom File (CnfTm-YS)
Ratings scale: I've used 1-100 Scale for one association and 1-100 Real Scale for another association
Declare for draft: After 1 season and an average number declaring
Recruiting difficulty: Brutal
Allow conference movement
Modern Day Transfer Portal
Injury factor: 200%
Job pressure: High
Coach settings have been different for both associations but coaches' ratings have not been high for either
Head coaching jobs: Prestige level of the colleges for both have been very low
When playing out 2D games I typically set Def Intensity at 5-6 (and don't adjust it a lot normally); auto switch defenses but play m-2-m about 60-75% of the time and 2-3 zone 25-40% of the time; Def Crash the boards 6-9; Full Court: 2-10 (vary this a lot); almost always am double teaming some player; Off Pace: 5-6; Off freedom: 3-4; Off Crash boards: 6-9; Auto switch offenses using Motion, High Post, and 5-out at frequencies I set for my team.

I never change player ratings within the Commission screen (Edit Players/Recruits) or by going to the game's database.

Team breakdown:

My team consists of mostly 2-3 star players. Only 1 player in my rotation has 1.5 stars. The average proficiencies for M-T-M is 67.06 as a team and 62.6 if you only incude the rotational players. I run M-T-M 90% of the time and 2-3 the other 10%. My proficiencies for 2-3 zone isn't that high (28.0 average). The average disapline rating is 43.33 for the whole team, 41.3 for the whole team. On offense I run Motion (25), Shuffle (25), and Triangle (75). My intensity is 4-5.

Fouls/Free-throw attempts:

I've played 20 games this season. Only 1 game was simulated. The 1 game that was simulated had 7 fouls, which was the lowest amount I had this season. The lowest amount of fouls in the 2D mode was 13 and that was only 2 games. We averaged 18.5 fouls per game. If we are only including the games I played in the 2D mode, the average is 19.1. In those 20 games, we gave up 447 free-throws (22.4 FTA per games).

My Test:

I found that in 6 of my 19 games in the 2D sim, I had 2-3 fouls in the first minute of the game (just my team). In 9 of my 19 games, there were 4-5 fouls (total) in the first minute. In most of my games I was in the bonus within the first 10 minutes. I noticed that fouls are mostly called within a small period of time. There would be 4-5 minutes with no fouls, then there would be 3-4 fouls in the next minute. I've seen mulitple fouls called 3-4 possessions in a row.

My Toughts:

I believe that fouls are high. Just looking at the numbers, it doesn't looke too crazy, it's just above average. When you look at how the fouls are called, it's very high. I haven't noticed a difference between the highest intensity and the lowest. The highest minutes per game by any player on my team is 25.2. That tells me that there's a problem. Most teams that I played, had less average fouls and less free-throw. My team has the higher disipline rating than most teams that I'm playing and my players have a better understanding of the defense. If I'm comparing my numbers with my peers, my fouls are on the high end. I use the mods and have the real-life coaches, I have used the normal settings in the past and I haven't noticed a difference.

Wow! That many fouls (and having it occur that often) in the first minute of play is NOT something I've encountered. My IMPPRESSION has been that in many game fouls are called more frequently in the first 5-10 minutes of DDSCB games and then the frequency of fouling tapers off a bit the rest of the game...I haven't documented that my impression is correct, though. But I definitely haven't seen a flurry of fouls in the first minute. Your avg # of fouls/game, while a little higher than what what's happened in my associaitions, is certainly well within the range for real life NCAA Division 1 teams.

I just tested a couple of games with my intensity at 0. I had the most fouls of the season at 27. This is getting out of hand.

I have also tried intensity to 0 and it did not help.
Here is one thing it is not always my team that is fouling a lot. It is about 50/50 on my team or the other team.
Mt average dis rating on my team 55.4
I play mostly mtm since my team is best at that by far.
I have recruiting on hard and injury on 170%
I used to run offense on 1 click past the middle. I went to 2 clicks from the slowest the last 4 games. I average 81 points a game even slowing it down. Usually from all the free throws I shoot. I shot 42 last game the opponent shot 28.
On defense I always start in the middle on intensity. There are almost ALWAYS multiple fouls in the first minute. There is always at least 1 foul called in the 1st minute and usually 5-7 in the first 3 minutes.
There will be a lot of fouls called then the game will go a few minutes with nothing. The fouls seem to come in bunches. Turning the intensity down does nothing with stopping fouls. But the ai opponent seems to have a lot of problems with fouls
I am 7 games into my 4 th season with this association. In 5 of the 7 games one of the teams shot at least 30 free throws. My team 3 times the other team 2 times. there were also 27,28 and 29 free throws shot in these games. It seems like you either shoot 35 to 40 or around 15 free throws a game.
Here are the averages
My team fouls 18.7 which is not horrible opponent 21.2 fouls a game
Free throws 26.7 and opponent 21.2
The averages dont look horrible its just the free throwa are either really high or low. Like I said the cpu has more problems than I do usually. They really seem to use playes when they are tired down in the 50`s a lot before they sub.It just gets frustrating when possession after possession is a foul and there really seems to be nothing that can be done about it.
I really hate to complain. Its just a game....Its just what is happening to me most of the games. Also, I have noticed the visiting team almost always shoots more free throws. But I am only 7 games into the season.
Tulsa my team is 6-1 so maybe they are just better than I think they are LOL.

I have investigated this privately through the support channel with both of you guys and because it is not seen with other users I wonder if what is being seen (and I don't doubt you guys are seeing it, its just that I cannot replicate it nor have I heard of others with this issue) but I wonder if its something related to the UI and a computer setting which is inaccurately reading in a selection?

Would you guys be willing to try something? Setup a tournament from the main menu and use your league as the source for the teams and put your team in it but when the game goes to start assign CPU control to it. See if the results are the same in terms of the fouls so you're simply watching and not controlling anything at all.

Also can you both provide me your computer specs? What version of Windows are you running, how much RAM, what is the processor?

If the issue was in the code itself everyone would see this problem and the code running the game is the same on your machine as it is mine and everyone elses. The only things different are the computers running them so maybe it has something to do with that? It is not something I have given up on but the only two logical explanations are its either what you as the user are inputting and doing for the games in terms of coaching decisions and yelling at the ref etc. or its something with a configuration of something on the computer.
