Creating a coaching identity

What are you talking about? Are you even understanding what my point is? This is not about proficiency. Read my post carefully and the guy i was responding too. It has nothing to do with wanting high school players to know the sets. Cause news flash. Most of my best offensive teams I've had playing this game run VERY little of the sets. Yes we will agree to disagree on the amount of scouting error. My point in mentioning a scout in this game telling me that a recruit knows how to break the press is that's NOT important info in the evaluation phase. I clearly said last post that your'e making my point and don't even realize it. Yes the game may never match that level of detail but we're on version 25 now. Certainly we can get more important information than he know how to break the 1-2-2 press. Do you not get the point now? There has to be a happy medium. There are times i can send my assistant to a live game or watch film and get NO scouting comments at all. Doesn't seem that realistic. I'm speaking to the difficulty of garnering information on what type of player he is/ or we think he is. I could care less what he's proficient in

One thing about these Wolverine forums is that the tone and mutual respect has been excellent and far better than many other forums/bulletin boards. Please, let's keep it that way.

Sorry. I took this to mean play 1-2-2 Press on Defense, not break the 1-2-2 Press when on offense.
Also, when you send a coach to watch a Live Game. What coach worth any penny of his salary, whether small school or major, is gonna watch a recruit play and come back and tell his HC "James has some knowledge of the 1-2-2 Press".

My point in mentioning a scout in this game telling me that a recruit knows how to break the press is that's NOT important info in the evaluation phase.

But to break a 1-2-2 Press from an offensive stand point the simple answer is to recruit guards with good ball handling and passing ratings. Good ball handlers do not turn the ball over and if he has good passing skills he will make the defense pay for pressing. Actually they will break any type press. The Passing and Handling ratings are shown when you scout the player.

Ok so I’m not sure where the disconnect here is.You even quoted my last explanation. I’m not having trouble with finding players that can break the press or proficiencies or the like. I’ll state once again. We’re in version 25 coming up and at this point if I have an assistant watch game tapes and view live games there should be more realistic notes than “Joe has knowledge of the 1-2-2 press breaker” or “he has knowledge of the 2-3 zone”. Notes that speak to what type of player he is/appears to be like “streaky shooter, can shoot you in the game or out of it”, “attacks the basket and knows how to draw contact”..things of this nature. This type of stuff could use an upgrade/refresh because it’s been the same thing going back as far as I can remember. No coach is gonna watch a tape or a game and his only comment/evaluation is gonna be about Johnny knowing how to break the press. That was my point
