Draft Day Sports CB2024 Review

I don't think so; it's just really hard to get recruits to visit a low prestige school. In-state is nearly, if not absolutely guaranteed, out of state but in-region is tough but not impossible, and out of region.... Good luck there! Also, I think your coach disappeared due to being signed to just a one year deal, so he re-entered the hiring pool as soon as assistant coach hiring came around. Jai Steadman, by any chance? I just started a save in Pocatello pretty much the same way the other day, and hired him back after year one. Couldn't extend from the one year contract because he wanted to see about a head coaching gig.

I wanted to follow up and say that I had a TON of fun with the transfer portal. I liked it way better than the normal recruiting. The normal recruiting is long...and hard for a low prestige program. Which is probably realistic. But, it just gets depressing doing recruiting week after week, spending IRL time building my watch list, texting the players, coordinating visits, and then little to no progress on any recruits each week. The transfer portal though? It's a quick 5 weeks. I loved the different pitch options with the strategy and costs involved. I had quite a few players that actually seemed interested (as opposed to the 2-3 in normal recruiting). I landed the Great South Player of the Year at SG and the RMC Freshman of the Year at C plus an additional starter at PG. I had only landed one "normal" recruit (albeit a pretty good one) so adding 3 decent/good players via the portal was very satisfying. I also had one player leave (conf freshman of the year). Oh well. Anyway, the transfer portal was fast and fun. The only thing it was missing was a watch list as I had to find the guys that I was interested in again every week.

Excellent review for sure. Great grammar and punctuation too, which makes it easy to follow. I like your synopsis of the transfer portal. Gives me a perspective that makes it a little more appealing (specifically opening up the ability for lower schools to strike it rich with a player, instead of needing constant growth with the old way). Go Bengals! It's usually only Boise State for Idaho sports here, so it's always nice to see a few lesser knowns have good seasons. If you use my face pack, you'll notice I pulled most of the hair and facial hair from the OLT pack for FM! That's an amazingly handy set for creating better player faces.

Picked up the game yesterday on sale. My thoughts so far is that the 2d gameplay is impossible to actually use on a 13” laptop. In ‘22 there was a popup when you made changes and substitutions. In 24 it’s all done on the left side bar. That’ll be fine when I’m playing on my desktop with a 32” monitor but it’s impossible to read the players name on my laptop. I can barely make out position when I bring the laptop close to my face.

Was hoping to play this while on vacation on laptop. But looks like I’ll have stick to baseball and hockey on the laptop instead. And leave this for my desktop.
Please give us a light skin UI option for all games. A Clone of the 2021 themes would be perfect!

Obviously a bigger monitor is better, but I play CB24 on a 15" laptop and while some things are small, 2D is readable. But yeah, not sure about a 13".

I play on a 14" laptop. I agree with PointGuard in that everything is readable but also a little small on some stuff. I'd love to be able to see it on a bigger screen just to see the differences.

Here's a 100% resolution of my substitution screen on my laptop. I can not read those names, unless I physically pick the laptop up and move it super close to my face...then I can kinda make them out. Even the hover over popup that says "defense" is pretty hard to read.

Now, I'll be the first to admit this laptop is pretty average on specs as it's my wife's cricut laptop that I take on vacation to use with GM games like OOTP and FHM, which both work really well on here. The resolution is 1366x768, so it's obviously nothing to ride home about. But the average user also won't be buying a gaming laptop to play GM games. I have no doubts the game will be great on my 32" desktop monitor at home as PB24 works fine on there.

And for reference, here's 22. Which is also pretty small but a IMHO is readable.

Yeah, agree your 13" monitor makes it tough to see. Think the resolution also probably adds to the problem you're encountering.

Well, you showed me yours so here's mine :D

15" monitor 1920X1080 resolution

And yeah, print is small also, but more distinct/sharper. I have no problem reading it during 2D play.
