Recruiting, Arttributes.

So I just recruited a player that was 57 in the nation and the 4th best PF. I would like to know once he actually gets to my team all of his attributes are 1s? Like I understand busts and stuff but like I scouted him for weeks, scouted him live. Is the attribute page just for show? I have no clue how a player can just be that bad. Even with the potential hes practically useless.

How did he perform at camps? What is your scouting rating? What about that of your assistant coaches? All of those things may play into what you're seeing.

Also I believe what you see in recruiting is potential ratings and what you see once he is on your team is current ratings, so he may get better with time. If he just joined the team you may see the rating change once he's re-scouted on your team. later in the season. Or he could just be a bust.

At times you see the opposite. You recruit a low-ranked recruit and then are pleasantly surprised to find him to come to you as a freshman with good skill ratings and star level. Then (and I think this is typically due to low assistant coach ratings) there occasionally is the case where you have a player with low skill levels and he performs well in games or a player with pretty good skill level ratings who seems to disappear in games.

It also has to do with the recruiting skills of your head coach and assistants. The lower their ratings the more inaccurate are their assessments of recruits.

I’m like 99% sure this is the correct answer. This is why, IMO, it’s very important to see potential recruits at the camps, because i believe the camps are the most “objective” way of telling current rating - the “overall” rating can be wrong, depending on your coaches’ ratings, but a guy who came in top 5 at a camp is going to be a starter immediately.
