Can someone define the conference types? I assume the difference in say a 12a versus a 12b may be the number of conf games played on the schedule?

Some are different # of conf games. Some also take into account divisions, especially in the 12 team setup. I can't remember what they all are off hand but I think for 12's you get a 16,18 or 20 game setup. And then some of those make it so you play division opponents twice and only part of your non division opponents twice.
