Editing conferences from the start

In your college football game there are XML files I can easily edit(easy method, lots of manual work) if I want to start a game with a different alignment than what the game comes with. For example, if I want the conferences to look like they did in 1985 I can do that. I do not see these types of files for the CBB game.
Is there a way to do this that I'm not aware of?
Is the game locked into the number of teams that come with the current(2024-2025 season) setup?

Number of teams is locked at 364.
To edit the conferences and teams from a non-in-game way. You have to use a program called SQLite. It's free and takes a little to get used to but you basically can make a copy of the Real World Mod database files. Use SQLite to change how you want. Then choose "Start from Import" when creating a league, instead of the default league. Choose your file and if everything is correct in it, it'll work. I'm never exactly sure if the number of conferences must be 32 or 33 or can be a different number, but I'd stick with the same as the mod, unless you want to try something else and sim several seasons as a test. If you need extra help on the SQLite editing, lemme know

Appreciate the help on the reply here - jlemmen43 has it exactly right. I use SQLite databases so that's exactly what you want to do. The only thing I will add is that when you setup the conferences you have to make sure you are setting correct conference codes for the tournament and regular season games - so if you create a 14 team conference make sure the code for the conf type is 14a and for the tournament if you want 14 teams in it use 14a. If you only want 10 then use 10a. I would not change the number of conferences - you can just set them up like the Pac12 is setup so its empty because you cannot add conferences during the game so if you want to have more conferences later on you will want those empty ones to put teams into.

Btw, the feature of being able to edit conference setups In-game, is a huge deal. Maybe it was inevitable with all the alignment chaos, but either way I think this feature and the option to hide conferences and quasi-hide teams, keeps a lot of people happy!
