I'm most likely going have a crack at him at the draft but I'm not sure I'm willing to give up what Boston will be asking (Curtis Anderson).

March Player of the Month – Mark Lewis, Utah Jazz – 21.4 points, 12.0 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.7 blocks per game.

March Rookie of the Month – Jerry Benton, New Orleans Hornets – 12.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.5 steals and 2.2 blocks per game.

It looks like this season is going to go downhill from here without Jack but we have to finish the season with dignity, but we did lose to the Cavs our first game back 98-84. Brooks Badu and Ron Winston did the bulk of the shooting, going 17/46 for 44 points, 15 rebounds and 13 assists on the game combined. Our best was no-one really as we went 2/24 from the three point line as Kelly Pryor had a shocker, hitting 2/16 from the field for 4 points.

Dallas Mavericks 35-38

Robert Arnold is playing surprisingly well at C even though he a through and through PF and tonight in Chicago’s 110-81 win he had 22 points and 16 rebounds to lead the way. We shoot 37% from the field as we are again ripped to shreds by a team looking to make the playoffs.

Dallas Mavericks 35-39

Well, if we are going down we might as well play Curtis Anderson more so he slides into the SG while Bart Flanders goes back to the bench.

Curtis does well in the start, going 5/8 for 11 points but we get smacked by the obviously more talented Raptors 106-90. Paul Orvis was spectacular with 32 points while Cederic Thomas had 22 points and 12 rebounds at the C position. Tim Westbrooks led the way for us with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists to lead us in those three categories.

Dallas Mavericks 35-40

Wow, this I did not expect. After being up by 15 points to the Spurs they stormed back to force overtime and I thought they would run over the top of us but we held our nerve to take the win 127-122. Joe Duggins stepped up when we needed him the most, going 12/22 from the foul line for 24 points and 13 rebounds. Kelly Pryor scored 27 points while Tim nearly had a triple double with 13 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds. Lamont Nelson was his usual best with 27 points while Darcel Settles handed out 12 assists to go with his 17 points. Good game by our guys and let’s see if we can keep it going.

Dallas Mavericks 36-40

Shawn Latimer bruised his shoulder so come on down Bart Flanders to start at PF.

On one hand I want to beat the Hawks to get some saving grace but on the other hand I want them to win so Phoenix has the best odds for the number one draft pick. I guess it wasn’t in my hands to decide, it was Jake Chase who did the damage with 23 points as the Hawks get the 123-106 home win. Chris Jones was in foul trouble all night but still put up 14 points as Nate Roberts added 17 points and 12 rebounds. Kelly Pryor was our best with 21 points but Curtis had a night to forget, going 1/12 for 7 points and 5 fouls.

Dallas Mavericks 36-41

We stuck with the overpowering Blazers for most of the game before they decided enough was enough and put the foot down with a 111-103 victory. Tiburcio Tommasini was again outstanding with 38 points while Kevin Epps added 21 points and 9 rebounds. I still don’t know why Earl Oliver isn’t starting. Tim was our best with 25 points, 6 assists and 5 steals while Bart Flanders added 23 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

Dallas Mavericks 36-42

For some reason we play another away game against Portland the next night which is really unfair and it wasn’t as close as the other game, going down 105-87. Tommasini had an off night, going 8/27 for only 18 points but Shannon Barker made up for it with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Kevin Epps was the standout though, putting up a great all around game with 20 points, 11 assists, 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Kelly had us going with 17 points but we turned the ball over 18 times and didn’t get to the foul line enough.

Dallas Mavericks 36-43

In the last ten games we have gone 1-9 which just goes to show how much we rely on Jack to get our scoring load. Make that 2-9 as we totally bedazzle the 48 win Kings with a 38-23 last quarter to team the 114-104 win. We were down by as much as 20 points in the third quarter but we just kept grinding out each bucket until we won the game. Kelly had a blinder, going 12/19 for 32 points as Tim was again SO close to a triple double it hurt with 9 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. Mike Lingle had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks for the losers.

Dallas Mavericks 37-43

No triple double watch for Tim Westbrooks as we make it a winning streak with a 124-116 win over Philadelphia as he poured in 29 points to go with his 7 assists and 10 turnovers. OK, so maybe a devil’s triple double was on the way. Eight Maverick players were in double figures as we shoot 51% from the field in a locked on performance. Lisandro Perez and Hector Carter both had 20 points for the Sixers while #1 draft pick Jamil Fleming is now starting and had 18 points and 8 assists.

Dallas Mavericks 38-43

Our last game of the season is against the 25-56 Rockets and I would love to end the season on a high note. And boy was it as both teams went ballistic and it was tied at 118 at the end of regulation. We turned on the jets and scored a whopping 24 points in the extra time to win the bizarre game 142-131 to finish the season on a three game winning streak. Joe Duggins was again useless at the foul line by amazing everywhere else with 34 points (8/18 FT) and 10 rebounds while Tim added 28 points and 15 assists. Hell, even though Kelly Pryor went 3/14 for 8 points he added 10 rebounds and 7 assists as well. Jay Warren and Antoine Martin were the best for Houston, combining for 43 points, 14 assists and 14 rebounds as we burnt past them in the overtime.

Dallas Mavericks 39-43

At the end of the season we finished in 10th spot in the West, four games outside the eight. I’ve got to feel sorry for the Jazz who finished the season at 42-40 and still didn’t get into the playoffs.

No way, he is too good to get for what we have. If the Knicks are pining for a high draft pick they might go for McKenzie for Phoenix's draft pick (likely top 3) but the chances are under 5%. He will be close to a 20/10 player in the future.

2027 NBA Playoffs

Eastern Conference First Round
#1 Miami defeat #8 Detroit 4-2
#7 Washington defeat #2 Toronto 4-3
#3 New Orleans defeat #6 Orlando 4-2
#4 Charlotte defeat #5 Boston 4-1

Western Conference First Round
#8 San Diego defeat #1 Golden State 4-2
#2 Nevada defeat #7 Los Angeles 4-1
#3 Minnesota defeat #6 San Antonio 4-1
#5 Portland defeat #4 Sacramento 4-0

This is what was said when the Riders traded for James McDaniel –

“If the Riders start winning with a very talented roster this team could be a dark horse for the championship”.

Beating the number one team in the West is a good start. There was another upset with the Wizards ousting the Raptors behind Rowan Taylor’s 29 point and 8 rebound series average.

Eastern Conference Semi-Finals
#4 Charlotte defeat #1 Miami 4-1
#7 Washington defeat #3 New Orleans 4-3

Western Conference Semi-Finals
#5 Portland defeat #8 San Diego 4-2
#3 Minnesota defeat #2 Nevada 4-2

There is no Cinderella story for the Riders as they get bounced in the second round. The Wizards on the other hand take out the defending champions and the Hornets won’t be in the NBA Finals for the first time in seven years which will be different. What will Louisiana do come Finals time? It’s a strange old playoffs this one with a #3, #4, #4 and #7 seeds are the four left standing.

Eastern Conference Finals
#4 Charlotte defeat #7 Washington 4-1

Western Conference Finals
#3 Minnesota defeat #5 Portland 4-3

Anthony Davis books his eighth straight NBA Finals appearance and he must be in the running for the best PF in history and close to top five player of all time by the end of his career, he has been that good. Some people have been saying that the Wolves/Blazers series was the real NBA Finals as both teams are stunningly good and either of them will probably beat the Eastern Conference victor.

2027 NBA Finals

#4 Charlotte vs. #3 Minnesota

Point Guard
Charles Gaines vs. Camah Williams
14.3 points, 4.5 assists, 5.9 rebounds vs. 19.1 points, 9.3 assists, 4.2 rebounds

After a slow start to his career Williams is now on the loose. His vision and body control is second top notch and if there wasn’t a certain McMillian at Golden State Camah would be the best PG in the league. Gaines will be smashed in this match-up.

Winner - Minnesota

Shooting Guard
Reggie Blake vs. Marcello Locatelli
14.6 points, 5.4 assists, 6.5 rebounds vs. 9.3 points, 2.5 assists, 3.6 points

Locatelli is a stand in SG who will share minutes with Brad Beal who can’t play full starters minutes. He will be run around the court all series long by Blake who is a slightly poorer version of the Dallas era James Harden who can do everything you ask of him except score in bunches.

Winner - Charlotte

Small Forward
Dan Mixson vs. Enrique Mendez
16.3 points, 2.7 assists, 8.2 rebounds vs. 23.6 points, 3.7 assists, 4.8 rebounds

The one of the one-two punch of the Timberwolves, Mendez is the bee’s knees. His defence is terrible but no-one cares about that, they care about his scoring and ability to come up with the right play at the right time. He is having a down post-season which has been put down to stage fright but should elevate at the highest level. Mixson is a good player and great shooter but his time will be spent slowing down Mendez.

Winner - Minnesota

Power Forward
Anthony Davis vs. Robert Williams
17.3 points, 1.8 assists, 7.8 rebounds vs. 17.3 points, 1.3 assists, 8.3 rebounds

Even at 33 years old Davis is the rock of all defensive rocks. His scoring skills aren’t as good as they used to be but he will nullify Williams in this series. This might be a problem for Minnesota as Williams has been a great surprise for them with his scoring and rebounding and has made up for Mendez’s slow playoffs.

Winner - Charlotte

Centre
Bryce Metcalf vs. Jonas Valanciunas
9.0 points, 1.7 assists, 10.7 rebounds vs. 7.9 points, 1.9 assists, 5.4 rebounds

An absolute steal in the off season Metcalf has gelled instantaneously with Davis to form a huge front line. He is leading all players this playoffs in rebounding and even though he doesn’t score much he doesn’t need to. Jonas is now 34 years old and on the downward slope of his career and will need to turn back the clock to have a chance of winning his first championship.

Winner - Charlotte

Bench
Austin Young, Darrick Vanlier, Kenyan Walker vs. Bradley Beal, Joe Holmes, Gabe White

This is where the Wolves take the cake. Not only do they have great players in Beal, Holmes and White but also Scott Woodruff and Mike Bailey. Hell, I’m pretty sure that starting five of Holmes/Beal/White/Bailey/Woodruff would beat Atlanta or Phoenix more times than not.

Winner – Minnesota

Prediction – Minnesota in six games. It’s nice to see Anthony Davis back into the NBA Finals with another team which proves that it was him, not the Hornets the Wolves are just too talented and too deep to be troubled too much.

Game One
Charlotte 73 – Minnesota 109 (MIN 1-0)
Player of the Game – Enrique Mendez, Minnesota – 29 points, 5 rebounds

Game Two
Charlotte 68 – Minnesota 88 (MIN 2-0)
Player of the Game – Enrique Mendez, Minnesota – 22 points, 8 rebounds

Game Three
Minnesota 78 – Charlotte 91 (MIN 2-1)
Player of the Game – Anthony Davis, Charlotte – 19 points, 13 rebounds

Game Four
Minnesota 108 – Charlotte 115 (Tied 2-2)
Player of the Game – Charles Gaines, Charlotte – 26 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists

Game Five
Minnesota 96 – Charlotte 80 (MIN 3-2)
Player of the Game – Enrique Mendez, Minnesota – 24 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds

Game Six
Charlotte 110 – Minnesota 81 (Tied 3-3)
Player of the Game – Reggie Blake, Charlotte – 27 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists

Game Seven
Charlotte 86 – Minnesota 100 (MIN 4-3)
Player of the Game – Enrique Mendez, Minnesota – 30 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists

What a crazy series. After both teams averaged over 100 points a game during the regular season there were only five times in 14 occasions that a team hit triple figures. Minnesota wins their first ever championship after being in the league since 1989, a 38 year drought. Enrique Mendez takes home the Finals MVP trophy as well, averaging 24.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.1 blocks in the seven games.

The lottery is up next and it’s the Michael McQuay lottery, whoever gets the win gets the honour of taking the future All NBA player for their team. It’s that cut and dry. We have the second best odds to get the first pick at 18.4% with Atlanta having the best odds at 23.2%. Our pick that we swapped to Phoenix have the 14th best odds at 0.7% so I’m pretty happy with that deal. Let’s not try and jinx it.

16 – Utah (0)
15 – Chicago (0)
14 – Phoenix (0)
13 – Cleveland (0)
12 – Philadelphia (0)
11 – Indiana (0)
10 – Portland (0)
9 – Milwaukee (0)
8 – Memphis (0)
7 – Seattle (0)
6 – Oklahoma City (0)
5 – Brooklyn (0)
4 – Denver (0)
3 – Dallas (-1)

Noooooooooooooooooooooo. Damn Rockets.

2 – Houston (+1)
1 – Atlanta (0)

In one of the least exciting drafts in history it was only us that moved down to third which sucks. At least there will be some nice talent there, with my favourite Julius Hobbs in the running to be picked there.

Award season and I’m really gunning for Kelly to win Rookie of the Year but Jerry Benton will probably beat him to it.

Most Valuable Player:
Ledaryl McMillian, Golden State Warriors – 29.2 points, 6.8 assists, 4.9 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 0.5 blocks

Back to back MVPs for the Buzzsaw and he is still only very young.

Defensive Player of the Year:
Jamaal Lewis, Chicago Bulls – 13.4 points, 2.2 assists, 6.1 rebounds, 2.3 steals, 2.0 blocks

When someone can average two steals and two blocks a game they are in the running. It finally snaps Anthony Davis’ streak of 11 DPoY awards in a row.

Sixth Man of the Year:
Ross Lampley, Miami Heat – 14.5 points, 2.0 assists, 2.8 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 0.6 blocks

Makes Earl Oliver’s bench role kind of pointless now. Lampley was on the bench because of the emergence of Kenneth Long.

Rookie of the Year:
Kelly Pryor, Dallas Mavericks – 12.0 points, 2.0 assists, 4.1 rebounds, 0.8 steals, 0.1 blocks

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Coach of the Year:
Larry Drew, Golden State Warriors – 59-23 (.720)

Well deserved as the Warriors were one of the best teams all year, too bad about the playoffs.

All NBA First Team:
Ledaryl McMillian, Golden State Warriors
James McDaniel, San Diego Riders
Enrique Mendez, Minnesota Timberwolves
Anthony Davis, Charlotte Bobcats
Rowan Taylor, Washington Wizards

All NBA Second Team:
Nashon Smith, Orlando Magic
John Johnson, Detroit Pistons
Tiburcio Tommasini, Portland Trailblazers
Brad Largent, Chicago Bulls
Andre Drummond, Nevada Neon

All NBA Third Team:
Camah Williams, Minnesota Timberwolves
Varlam Chavchavadze, Boston Celtics
Darrell Hampton, Indiana Pacers
Cederic Thomas, Toronto Raptors
Mark Lewis, Utah Jazz

All Defence First Team:
Nashon Smith, Orlando Magic
Hillar Petrauskas, New Orleans Hornets
Jamaal Lewis, Chicago Bulls
Anthony Davis, Charlotte Bobcats
Andre Drummond, Nevada Neon

All Defence Second Team:
Camah Williams, Minnesota Timberwolves
Ron Winston, Cleveland Cavaliers
Cedric Watson, San Antonio Spurs
Carl Farmer, Seattle Supersonics
Mark Lewis, Utah Jazz

All Rookie First Team:
Dave Coulter, Oklahoma City Thunder
Kelly Pryor Dallas Mavericks
Brad King, Los Angeles Lakers
Billy Jefferson, Detroit Pistons
Jerry Benton, New Orleans Hornets

All Rookie Second Team:
Jamil Fleming, Philadelphia 76ers
Curtis Anderson, Dallas Mavericks
Jason London, Chicago Bulls
Victor Brinker, Oklahoma City Thunder
Brian Benton, Washington Wizards

Pretty cool that two brothers were the two rookie centres but the better news is that not only did our own Rookie of the Year Kelly Pryor made the first team but our bench SG Curtis Anderson also got onto the second team! Good news for Dallas fans.

I didn’t get an email this time from Mr Stuart, I actually got a phone call. He was not amused.

“Mr MacMillan, that was not a good performance by your team and you are still massively over the salary cap, what do you have to say for yourself?”

He seemed to have done his homework this time.

“We were in the playoff hunt until Jack went down and as you know we have the number three pick in this pretty stacked draft. One more year and we will be right under the cap with the sanction contracts nearly off the books and we will be looking pretty with our talent.”

“You better get better soon, or it will be your head.” He snapped back.

Gulp, this turned dark quickly.

“We’ll do our best.”

After I get that image of my head on a pile I extend all of our coaches for another three years. Coach Garnett was only earning $700,000 a year for his fantastic work so he goes up to above $4 million which is more in order of a coach of his calibre.

NBA Mock Draft
1 – Atlanta – PF Michael McQuay
2 – Houston – PF Andy Kante
3 – Dallas – PF Julius Hobbs
4 – Denver – PF Leon Oliver
5 – Brooklyn – PG Leroy Nolan
6 – Oklahoma City – SF Alfons Dietz
7 – Seattle – SF Hayletts Wilcox
8 – Memphis – SG Tobe Slaughter
9 – Milwaukee – PF Ron Morgan
10 – Portland – PF Murray Cornette
11 – Indiana – SG Tip Smith
12 – Philadelphia – SG Eddie Harris
13 – Cleveland – PF Louis Rogers
14 – Phoenix – SF Jeffrey Womack
15 – Chicago – PG Earl Harris
16 – Utah – SF Steven McAfee

The mock draft looks pretty good but I can see Dietz, Slaughter and Morgan slip into the top five. Even Tip Smith could jump up a few spots if his combine is good enough. I like the top of the draft and would be wrapped with either Kante or Hobbs were there for us so it’s a win/win.

End of Season Report on the Rookie Six (Year Two)

#41 SF Jack Dawkins, Dallas Mavericks – 23.7 points, 4.6 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 0.7 steals, 0.3 blocks

Another injury curtails Jack’s season which was becoming a breakout season. His scoring is becoming elite and his passing is better than ever and the rest of the league is on alert next season. His turnover rate is still too high but he is only 22 years old. Jack was the first of the Rookie Six to make the All Star game.

2025 – Rookie Game Starter
2026 – Sophomore Game Starter
2026 – All Star Game Reserve

#17 PG Cort Majishun, Memphis Grizzlies – 16.9 points, 8.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds, 1.0 steal, 0.2 blocks

Having played every game so far in his career, Majishun is a spitting image of a young(er) Ledaryl McMillian. He is still growing and won’t get there for another two or so years but when he gets to his potential it will be scary. His court vision is also excellent and the only downside is that his defence isn’t anywhere near as good as the Buzzsaw’s.

2025 – Rookie Game Starter
2025 – NBA All Rookie 1st Team
2026 – Sophomore Game Starter

#13 SG Kenneth Long, Miami Heat – 19.0 points, 3.0 assists, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals, 1.5 blocks

Another one of the Rookie Six whose season got cut short by injury, he broke his elbow at the end of March when Miami were gearing up for the playoffs. His scoring would have been extremely important for the Heat who got bounced in the second round after nabbing the number one seed in the East. Long still doesn’t get along with his teammates or coach so could be dealt during the off season.

2026 – Sophomore Game Starter

#35 PF Terry McKenzie, New York Knicks – 16.5 points, 1.4 assists, 7.7 rebounds, 1.0 steal, 0.8 blocks
Playoff Stats – 5 games, 12.6 points, 0.6 assists, 10.0 rebounds, 0.2 steals, 0.6 blocks

The first of the Rookie Six to play in the playoffs but was eliminated in the first round with a farily poor performance. His rebounding is fantastic and could be the best rebounder in the league in as little as next season. I’m not sure he will ever be a go to scorer in the league but the rest of his game is really, really good.

2025 – Rookie Game Starter
2025 – NBA All Rookie 1st Team
2026 – Sophomore Game Starter

#4 SG Chris Jones, Atlanta Hawks – 14.6 points, 6.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 0.0 blocks

The Wizard got his wish with the number one draft pick and Michael McQuay who should help his numbers out as there will be someone on the woeful Hawks that can actually play. His scoring percentages increased but still needs to shoot better. For some reason Atlanta hasn’t picked up his rookie option so will be a restricted free agent after next season.

2025 – Rookie Game Reserve
2025 – NBA All Rookie 2nd Team
2026 – Sophomore Game Reserve

#47 C Art Stevenson, Boston Celtics – 4.9 points, 0.4 assists, 2.2 rebounds, 0.2 steals, 0.3 blocks
Playoff Stats – 5 games, 2.4 points, 0.2 assists, 1.0 rebound, 0.0 steals, 0.2 blocks

Art is finally had enough of his coach not giving him playing time and is hinting very hard that he wants a trade. There are a few teams that are interested in his services and Boston will be be listening to them intensely.

2027 NBA Draft

This draft looks pretty stacked with McQuay at top but a lot of good talent all the way down to the end of the lottery. It may not be a superstar heavy as two years ago it is much better than last year it seems.

1 – Atlanta – PF Michael McQuay
Obviously.

2 – Houston – PF Andy Kante
I was having an internal discussion about what would happen if Houston picks someone other than Kante. Would I pick him or Julius Hobbs? Kante is a PF version of Rowan Taylor, he can score with the best of them but won’t do anything else which is a problem.

3 – Dallas – PF Julius Hobbs
I get my guy anyway. He will never be a big time scorer but with Jack on the team he won’t need to be. His rebounding, defence and all around talent makes him a great fit here.

I go shopping and try a make a deal for Art Stevenson at Boston but they want too much for him. Sure, he is a nice prospect but he doesn’t deserve to be held in such a high regard right now. A couple of years maybe, but not now. We have our future SG, SF and PF so I’m looking for a great PG and C. I get the former with a three team deal.

Dallas trade:
PG Tim Westbrooks
PF Hayletts Smith

Dallas receive:
PG Nashon Smith

Phoenix trade:
PG Reggie Dobbins

Phoenix receive:
PG Tim Westbrooks
PF Hayletts Smith

Orlando trade:
PG Nashon Smith

Orlando receive:
PG Reggie Dobbins

Winner – Everyone. Dallas upgrades their starting point guard to the All NBA second teamer but add salary, Phoenix shakes things up by trading away more talent than they get back but Westbrooks is serviceable and both players are expiring contracts while Orlando wants more of a distributing point guard than a out and out scorer. It looks like everyone gets something out of this deal.

I was debating between Dobbins and Smith as Dobbins is probably the better player and a dynamite passer but Smith is a much better defender (All Defence 1st Team) and can score very well. I made the decision that we don’t need a pure point guard because of Jack’s passing ability so getting someone that can score the rock will take pressure off of him. We didn’t have anyone to go to last season when Jack went down so now we have a great second scorer. Now I need a centre but I’ll wait for a bit.

4 – Denver – PF Leon Oliver
I’m not sure about this one as I had Ron Morgan above Oliver. Oliver will still be a great player, filling the void of Chris Drexler, but not as good.

5 – Brooklyn – PG Leroy Nolan
Huge reach here by the Nets. At 6’4”, 155lbs Nolan is a stick and even though his passing vision is great this is not the spot for him.

There are a few centres that I have a look at like Peter McCaffery and Mike Lingle but a good centre is really hard to find so I abandon my search for a couple more picks.

6 – Oklahoma City – SF Hayletts Wilcox
Not the best passer but he is a great rebounder at the SF position. In fact, his long arms give him the ability to stop smaller, quicker defenders. The experts are mixed but I like this pick.

7 – Seattle – SF Alfons Dietz
The German drops to the Sonics and they are very happy to take him. First proper steal of the draft.

The Rockets heard that I’m looking for a centre to fill out our line-up so offer me garbage for Curtis Anderson which is promptly refuse.

8 – Memphis – PG Lamar Iversen
He puts the Iversen (sic) name to good use at 5’7”, 147lbs he is tiny. I don’t like this pick because on top of his size there are two much better PG prospects still waiting to be drafted in Earl Harris and Jason Collins.

9 – Milwaukee – PF Ron Morgan
Great pick, great, great pick. If we were picking around the 4-7 range I would have no reservations in drafting Morgan so getting him at #9 is another steal.

10 – Portland – SG Tobe Slaughter
Two steals in a row as Slaughter is the best SG in the draft. I could make a joke about him coming off the bench with Earl Oliver but that wouldn’t be nice of me. Excellent pick.

11 – Indiana – SG Tip Smith
I sound like a broken record but Smith is the steal of the draft. Nearly averaged a triple double while putting up 30ppg he is as pure a scorer as you can get. His defence isn’t that great but he will be given the green light at the Pacers.

12 – Philadelphia – PG Jason Collins
I’m not sure about this pick. Sure Collins is probably the best PG in the draft and a fantastic play maker but the Sixers drafted another PG Jamil Fleming number one last draft so they are doubling up.

13 – Cleveland – SG Eddie Harris
The Cavs probably should have taken the other E.Harris because Eddie’s defence isn’t a sieve, it’s a bucket with the bottom cut out. Decent pick but could have been better.

14 – Phoenix – PG Earl Harris
Nice pick here and should push Tim Westbrooks for the starting PG position after training camp.

15 – Chicago – SG BB Henderson
Fundamentally sound but lacks the explosiveness to take him to the next level. His defence is also subpar but if he can make his name as a spot up shooter BB will find a place in the league.

16 – Utah – SF Jeffrey Womack
With the last pick of the lottery the Jazz pick up a nice bench/fifth starter SF in Womack. Very smart player who should fit in nicely with Lewis and Favors and gets a thumbs up from me at #16.

17 – San Diego – PF Murray Cornette
18 – Detroit – PF Louis Rogers
19 – Washington – SG Jason Wilks
20 – Los Angeles – PG Donald Dent
21 – San Antonio – PG Clay Pina
22 – Boston – PG Brandon Oliver
23 – Sacramento – PF Will Williams
Yes his name is William Williams.

24 – Boston – SG Kyle Vickers
25 – Portland – PG Bishop White
26 – Milwaukee – C Lavar Smith
27 – Houston – SF Steven McAfee
28 – Minnesota – C Chris Benjamin
29 – Nevada – SF Ali Pastner
30 – Toronto – C Andre Majerus
31 – Miami – PG Broderick Willis
32 – Golden State – PG Antonio Beck

There was only really one big name trade in the draft with a few others that raised an eyebrow but nothing more.

Charlotte trade:
SG Tom Bryant

Memphis trade:
PF Marco Edward

Winner – Charlotte. It’s not as cut and dry as you would think even with Edward being a much better player because he has to play behind Anthony Davis for at least two more years until Davis (probably) retires.

Miami trade:
PG Luke Owens
2027 2nd round pick

San Diego trade:
PF Lance Ellis

Winner – San Diego. Ellis is a great talent but the Heat now has zero point guards on their roster and currently have Kenneth Long starting there and he definitely is not a point guard. I like Owens paired with James McDaniel as well (if the Riders can re-sign him).

Oklahoma City trade:
PG Dave Coulter

Philadelphia trade:
PG Jason Collins

Winner – Both. At the moment this is still up in the air as Collins was drafted this draft while Coulter was taken last time so both teams won’t know who wins this trade until they finish growing.
