3/7: We face #9 seed GW, 16-13, in the quarters of the A10 tourney. We won by 19 there.

3/8: 87-76. They led by 8 early and by 6 at the half but we woke up after the break. 19, 13 for C Art Tigg. 4 others with 12 or more. 10 TOs.

#4 seed ST Louis, 17-13, 10-8, in the semis. Beat them by 10 at our place.

3/9: 86-65. An easy win. 23, 7 for SF Kal Coff, 18, 11 for Tigg. 11 TOs.

#6 seed St Bonnie, 16-15, 10-8, shocked #2 seed, #17 ranked Duquesne. We play them for the title.

3/10: 96-85. A breeze. We led by 24 at the half. 30, 7 for Coff, 22, 8 for Mamm, 12, 10 for 6th man Luke Bord. 8 TOs.

#8 ranked, #4 RPI. I can see a #3 seed and a #2 is not out of the question.

3/12: #4 East. I’m livid. A #4 in the hardest bracket. I unloaded at the press conference which was probably not wise, but this is outrageous! We play #13 CCSU, 24-6.

3/16: 91-82. They led by as many as 8, and by 3 at the half. We finally started playing with about 12 minutes left. 16, 6 for Coff, 12, 10 for Tigg, but -11 RBs. I am not happy.

#12 seed GA ST, 23-9, shocked #5 Arkansas. We play them in round 2 and the door is open to our first Sweet Sixteen! Overconfidence is my biggest worry.

3/18: 81-54. A walk in the park. 16, 12 for Coff, 15, 10 for Hugg, 13, 10 for Tigg, 13 for Bord. +15 RBs, 9 TOs, and our first Sweet Sixteen.

We face #1 seed, #1 ranked Kentucky, 30-3, the best team we’ve faced in my 5 years at RI. We don’t match up badly inside, but they have a huge edge outside.

3/23: 62-86. We never had a chance. 20, 13 for Mamm, 19, 10 for Tigg, but as expected they killed us outside. Great season!

4/3: We lost to the national champs.

Final stats for the Flex offense: 82.3 PPG (#28), 31-4. Overall, 134-37, .784. On to the Princeton offense (I’m skipping High Post and Shuffle for now.).

11/20: 2-0. All 3 recruits sign. Still chasing a big guy. We’re picked to finish 5th in the A10.

12/4: 4-1, RPI #103. We’re playing a weak schedule but we are 3-1 on the road. Henk leads us with 24.4 and 10.4. We’re still tweaking the lineup.

12/22: 7-1, RPI #66. Headed for the Hoops tourney. We play #3 seed Iowa ST, 8-0. We’re the #6 seed. They’re good!

12/23: 81-88. We blew a 21 point lead, just fell apart in the 2nd half.

2/26: We got hot in the 2nd half of A10 play, 18-10, 11-7. RPI #63. We finish tied for 3rd, the #4 seed. +4.8 PPG (#35), +4.5 RBs, +0.7 TOs.

3/7: We play #5 seed ST Louis, 17-11, 10-8 in the quarters. We beat them by 20 at our place but they’re favored by 2 ½.

3/8: 87-82. Great win in a close game. 36, 13 for C Joe Henk. +9 RBs.

#9 seed Duquesne, 18-12, 9-9, knocked off the #1 seed. We play them in the semis. Beat them by only 3 at our place then lost by 20 there. They’re favored by 1 ½.

3/9: 74-65. Henk is on fire, 35 and 12 tonight. 16 for SG Ben Hoge, 11, 10 for PF Jon Hays. 46 RBs.

We play #3 seed ST Bonnie, 18-12, 11-7, for the title. They won by 19 there then we won by 17 at our place. They’re favored by half a point.

3/10: 76-71 and the title! Tourney MOP Joe Henk had 38 and 8. He had an amazing tourney! We’re in the big dance. Hoping for a decent seed.

3/12: #11 Midwest. We play #6 seed, #16 ranked Nevada, 25-5. They have a terrific backcourt. Our bigs need to take control and our guards need to step up.

3/16: 68-84. We kept it close for 25 minutes, then they went on a 12-3 run and that was that. 26, 9 for Henk. Great first season!

4/3: #21 ranked Temple wins it all!

4/4: Awards: Joe Henk is A10 POY and 1st team. That’s our only award.

11/14: 93-69. We were on fire! 32, 10 for Henk, 17 each for PF Jon Hays and SG Ben Hoge. +14 RBs, +7 TOs.

#1 in the nation Duke in the quarter finals. Yikes!

11/16: 89-81. Biggest win EVER!!! 38, 8 for Henk. Great bench play, 42 RBs, 9 TOs. WOW!!!

#5 seed, #11 ranked Michigan in the semis. Tough team, especially inside, and with a great SG.

11/18: 69-84. Henk remains hot with 27, 12, but they had too many weapons. Great tourney for us though.

11/20: 2-1. Not ranked. I really thought we should have been after knocking off the #1 team in the country.

All 4 recruits sign.

12/4: 6-1, RPI #36. Henk is playing terrific basketball, 29 and 8.0. SG Ben Hoge gets 14 PPG. Jon Hays gets 10 and 6.7.

12/25: 9-2, RPI #12. +9.2 PPG (#27), +5.7 RBs, +2.0 TOs. Henk gets 24.2, 8.1. Hoge gets 14.2, Hays gets 10.5, 7.8. Walk will start at SF for Robb.

1/29: 16-5, 7-3, RPI #24. In a 3 way tie for 1st in the A10 with 3 teams one game back. +7.7 PPG (#14, +7.1 RBs, +2.0 TOs. Henk gets 22.6, 9.5.

3/7: We play #7 seed Davidson, 11-17, 9-9, in the quarters. We won by 18 there.

3/8: 93-96 in OT. They jumped out to a 16 point lead and held it throughout the first half. We came all the way back, even took the lead a few times, but then we missed an open 15 footer at the buzzer in regulation, and we lost it in OT. Not good! 26, 15, 5 for Henk. Great bench play.

We’ll be lucky to get a #8 seed.

3/11: Davidson stayed hot and won the A10 tourney.

3/12: #11 West. We play #6 Colorado, 19-12. No complaints. When you lose in the first round of the conf. tourney this is what you get. If we play our game we can beat these guys.

3/17: 77-74. Whew! They were up by 16 early, 6 at the half. We didn’t quit, finally took the lead with 5:22 left, and it was back and forth after that. . Our bench won this one. They doubled Henk all the way and we found the open man, at least in the 2nd half. Bench had 30, 12, 4.

#3 seed Marshall, 30-4, in round 2. All 5 of their starters average in double figures but we think we can beat them.

3/19: 77-74- same score as last game, and same type of game in lots of ways. +14 RBs. 13, 17 for Henk, 13, 12 for Hays.

We’re in the Sweet Sixteen! We’ll play #15 seed Alabama A & M, 20-12, who knocked off #2 and #7. They’ve been winning by hitting threes. If we can contain their SG and SF we can move on. LOTS of upsets in 3 of the 4 brackets.

3/24: 102-96 in a real slugfest. An unbelievable 32 lead changes, and 10 ties. We got hot in the final minute, hitting a three by Hoge, getting a steal, hitting two free throws from Henk, forcing a TO, hitting a lay up by Henk. Henk led us with 28, 9. Hoge had 19, 2, 8. 6th man Paul Robb had 13 and 12. +15 RBs.

We’re in the Elite Eight vs. #4 seed, #23 ranked Virginia, 24-7. We need to contain their very good guards, but we have a shot. There is 1 #1 seed left, 1 #2, no #3 seeds.

What a tourney!

3/26: 73-91. It was a great ride but we were in over our heads in this one. 27, 10 for Joe Henk in his last game.

4/3: We lost to the national champs. VA won it all.

4/4: Awards: Joe Henk repeats as A10 POY and 1st team. Soph Ben Hoge and junior Jon Hays make the 2nd team. I get A10 COY.

4/23: We ask for a budget increase. Didn’t get it last year but it would be nice. We get $10,450!

24-11, 83.4 PPG, #16. Overall, 45-22, .672.
