5/1: #22 recruiting class. We buy East Gold, National Basic.

6/5: No transfers worth chasing.

6/26: 5 scholarships. I need 3 guards.

Henk was not drafted. Ridiculous. He’ll get invited to some team’s camp, make the squad, and do big things in the NBA.

8/21: We offer to 3 PGs, 2 Cs.

9/18: Got 3 PGs, lost 2 bigs. Great PGs though, #51, 64, 69.

Alaskan Classic vs. Furman.

9/25: Got a C, #79. Lost the other one. Still chasing a C.

10/2: Lost another big.

1st day of practice. We’re picked 4th in the A10. We plan to win it.

10/9: Got a C, #557, but he’s better than that.

11/6: 9 man rotation.

Soph Cal Buck starts at PG but the position is open with Frosh Ben Jonn and junior Ad Brig getting minutes.

Junior Ben Hoge is solid at SG with frosh Ahm Aada backing up.

Soph Tom Grif starts at SF, subs at PF. Senior Paul Robb subs at SF.

Junior Vic Walk starts at PF, subs at C. Senior Jon Hays is at C.

11/24: 3-0. We’re headed for the Alaskan Classic. We’re the #3 seed. We face #6 Furman, 2-1.

11/25: 93-71. 30, 11 for C Jon Hays, 14, 6 for PF Vic Walk, 17 for SG Ben Hoge, 19 for sub SF Paul Robb.

#2 seed Southern Cal, 2-0, in the semis. Very good guards.

11/26: 87-100. The O was fine but the D was atrocious. 26, 5 for SF Tom Grif, 17 for Hoge, 12, 6 for Robb. -6 RBs.

12/25: 8-2, RPI #72.. +5.4 PPG (#116), +1.8 RBs, +5.0 TOs. Making some lineup changes.

1/1/2022: 10-2, 2-0. Great start to A10 play.

2/26: We end the regular season at 21-8, 13-5, RPI #61. Alone in 2nd, one back of #22 GW. +4.5 PPG, (#90), +4.7 RBs, +3.0 TOs. Hays leads us with 16.7,
9.2. SG Ben Hoge gets 16.0.

3/7: We play #10 LaSalle, 13-16, 8-10, in the quarters. Given our poor RPI we need to get to the finals of this tourney if not win it.

3/8: 85-73. 26, 13 for Hays, 24 for Hoge. 8 TOs.

#3 seed Duquesne, 17-13, 11-7, in the semis. Won by 14 at our place, lost by 7 there. We need to play well.

3/9: 63-54. We were down by 11 early, 9 at the half, but we held them to 14 2nd half points. 23, 7 for Hoge.

#5 seed UMass, 17-13, 10-8, upset #1 seed GW. They beat us by 12 there, then we won by 18 at our place. We are a 3 ½ point favorite.

3/10: 84-72. 32 for tourney MOP Ben Hoge. +16 RBs. We had a great tournament.

Hoping this gets us a good seed in a good bracket. Anything better than a #10 is probably unlikely, but we’ll see.

3/12: #12 East. I’m disappointed. I thought at least a #11, and the East bracket is always the toughest. We face #5 Marshall, 25-6. I think we can beat them.

3/16: 70-72. It was close all the way, never NOT in single digits. They had the last possession and drained a three at the buzzer. 21, 11 for Hays, who is the only really major
loss. We have some great looking recruits coming in.

4/3: #3 Utah wins it all.

4/4: Awards: Senior Jon Hays is A10 POY and 1st team along with juniors Ben Hoge and Vic Walk.

4/23: We met all of our goals and dropped in TP from 52 to 48.

We ask for $. All 3 assistants left and we spent a lot. No.

24-9, 79.0 PPG, #101. Overall, 69-31, .690.

5/1: #22 recruiting class. We buy National Basic.

6/5: Slots for two transfers.

6/12: We get a PG from Syracuse.

6/26: 4 scholarships. We want 2 and 2.

8/21: We offer to a PG, an SG, an SF, and a PF.

9/18: Got 3, lost 1. Got an SF, #95, an SG, #122, a PG, #161. We need a big.

No in season tourney this season. It happens.

9/25: Got a PF. He’s at #527, but he’s better than that.

10/2: 1st day of practice. We’re picked 3rd in the A10. Hoping to win it.

11/6: 8 man rotation:

Senior Ben Hoge starts at PG, subs at SG. Frosh Mike Dest starts at SG, subs at PG. Junior Cal Buck and soph Ahm Adaa sub at SG.

Junior Tom Grif starts at SF, subs at PF. Soph Ben Jonn subs at SF.

Senior Vic Walk starts at PF, subs at C. Juco junior Jon Pext starts at C.

12/25: 7-2, RPI #118. +9.9 PPG (#12), +8.8 RBs, +3.0 TOs. Pext gets 19.2, 11.9. 16.8 for Hoge, 15.9, 8.6 for Walk.

1/1/2023: 9-2, 2-0, RPI #73. We beat GW there. Considering they finished 1st in the A10 last year that’s a good sign!

1/29: 15-4, 8-2, RPI #54. Tied with VCU for 1st in the A10. 3 teams are one game back. +9.0 PPG (#13), +6.2 RBs, +4.0 TOs. Pext gets 21.5, 11.6.

2/26: We end the regular season 20-8, 13-5, RPI #58. In a 2 way tie for 2nd and the #2 seed.

3/7: We play #7 seed UMass, 17-12, 9-9, in the quarters.

3/8: 81-60. 21, 8 for C Jon Pext, 17 for SF Tom Grif, 11, 12 for PF Vic Walk.

The worst team in the league, #14 seed GW, 11-19, 5-15, has gotten hot and we’ll meet them in the semis. If they play the way they’ve played in the tourney so far this won’t be easy.

3/9: 65-56. Sloppy game but we led it all the way, by as many as 24. 23, 19 for Pext, 10, 11 for Walk.

#5 seed St Joe, 21-12, 11-7, for the title. They crushed us at their place and won by 3 at our place. We’d better come to play.

3/9: 76-90. These guys just have our number. 15, 10 for Pext, 17 for Grif.

22-9, 13-5, RPI #60. Not sure we’ll make the tourney.

3/12: NIT, #3 East. We play #6 BYU, 18-12. This can only end well if we win the whole thing.

3/13: 98-73. 31 for Ben Hoge, 19, 8 for SG Cal Buck, 16 for sub guard Mike Dest, so our guards won it for us. +16 RBs, so the big guys did their job, too.

#2 seed Southern Illinois, 23-9, in the 2nd round. This is a team we should beat but we need to play.

3/15: 105-90. A real shootout. 31, 9 for Pext, 21, 4, 7 for Buck, 20, 6, 5 for Hoge.

#1 seed Cal-Poly, 26-7, in the quarter finals. We think we’re better but they can play.

3/20: 80-78. Close one! Cal Buck hit a three at the buzzer for the win. He had 16, 3, 5. Pext had 17, 8. -7 RBs, but +9 TOs.

#4 seed Wake Forest, 19-14, in the semifinal game. They do a lot of things well.

3/28: 81-68. 23, 8, 4 for Tom Grif, 20, 4, 4 for Hoge, 16, 11 for Pext. +13 RBs.

#1 seed Kent ST, 25-10, for the NIT title. Their strength is inside but we think we’re pretty good there, too. They are favored by 1 ½.

3/30: 68-82. Sadly, we came up short. They led most of the way. The shots didn’t drop and we gave up 14 threes. 21, 10 for Pext. -7 RBs and 19 TOs.

4/3: #4 GA Tech is the champ.

4/4: Awards: Junior Jon Pext is A10 POY and 1st team. Senior Vic Walk made the 2nd team. I thought Ben Hoge should have made at least 2nd team. I am A10 COY.

4/23: I ask for a facilities upgrade. No.

26-10, 82.5 PPG, #40. Overall for 4 seasons, 95-41, .699. Heading for our final season.

5/1: #26 recruiting class.

6/5: No recruiting since it’s the last season of this test.

9/18: Preseason NIT vs. Xavier.

10/2: 1st day of practice. We’re picked to win the A10.

11/6: 8 man rotation:

Soph Mike Dest starts at PG with junior Ahm Adaaa backing him.

Red shirt soph Jay Wert starts at SG. Frosh Dal Paez backs up.

Frosh Jal Mart is at SF. Red shirt soph Ric Good subs at SF and PF.

11/13: We head for the NIT tomorrow vs. #7 seed #16 ranked Xavier. We’re the #10 seed.

11/14: 100-71. Great way to start the season. 24, 18 for Pext, 20, 4, 5 for SG Jay Wert, 22, 7 for SF Jai Mart, 12, 3, 9 for PG Mike Dest, 9, 10, 3 for PF Tom Grif. +27 RBs.
And this was against #16 in the country!

It doesn’t get easier, #2 seed, #9 ranked UCLA in the quarters. They’re a big favorite in this one. Hopefully we’ll give it all we have.

11/16: 92-84. It was close most of the way. 23, 6 for Pext, 17, 8 for Grif, 18, 6 for Mart. This team can SCORE!

#6 seed, #5 ranked Memphis in the semis. They’re a huge favorite. They’re solid at every position.

11/18: 65-81. In over our heads. 19, 12 for Pext, 16, 3, 7 for Wert, but that’s a really good team.

11/20: 2-1. Memphis won the NIT. We’re not ranked. I think we should be after beating both #16 and #9.

12/4: 6-1, ranked #25, RPI #13. Pext leads us with 19.0, 14.1.

12/25: 9-2, RPI #15. We should be ranked. Pext leads us with 17.5, 13.2. +10.5 PPG (#13), +7.2 RBs, +2.7 TOs. Our 5 starters get between 17.5 and 11.5 PPG.
