Solitary Man

1/27: 69-64 over Maine. Too close considering they only have 4 wins. We led all the way but they kept the pressure on us and kept it close. 21, 6 for Engo, 17, 4, 3 for Mack, 10, 12 for Jete. 7 TOs.

We're just not playing that well. Or maybe we're just not that good. We've moved up a conference every season, and maybe this is about as high as we can go. Hard to say. I'm thinking that if I get a reasonable offer in April it might be a good time to move to another school.

1/31: 92-84 at South Carolina Upstate. They're a decent team so I'm happy with this road win. We led by 11 after a 50 point first half. 21, 11, 5 for Jete, 10, 10 for Engo, 17, 3 for 6th man Brad Hook. +10 RBs, 12 TOs.

Kyle Ourn hurt his knee. Out for about a week.

We're 13-5, 5-2, in a 2 way tie for 3rd, 2 back of 1st.

I got my job back! I'm thrilled. The guy who had it mouthed off to the civilian supervisor once too often.

This job really had a positive psychological effect when I held it before and I'm looking forward to a return to those feelings. I loved the work and the responsibility, and it will be great getting away from the mundane, boring work I've been doing. The little things mean a lot when you're locked up.

I think the groundswell of support from the SNA (Solitarians Network of America) was what got your job back. There's only one member in the SNA, but he's persuasive as hell.

2/3: 67-74 at Samford. They're a pretty good team, 12-7, but we had opportunities we didn't take advantage of. -5 RBs and 4-27 on threes, and way too many dumb fouls. 19, 7 for Engo, 18, 5 for Hook but too little from everyone else.

5 of our last 8 are at home, which should help some.

2/7: 70-58 vs. Jacksonville ST here. This one was back and forth for a little over 30 minutes before we finally took control. 18, 9 for Hook, who is getting more minutes; we're thinking about putting him back into the starting lineup. 17, 6 for Jens. Jete, who has been inconsistent, had a poor game.

We're 14-6, 6-3, in a 3 way tie for 3rd, 2 back of 2 teams.

There's a lot of tension in the kitchen. The guy who I just replaced as a supervisor is not happy and he appears to have a following. His people haven't done anything but their looks and body language are very threatening. There could be trouble ahead.

2/10: 71-49 at ST Francis. Powerful road win! Half of our points came from our guards, which is unusual. 11 TOs. 11, 2, 6 for Jens, 13, 2, 3 for Mack.

2/12: I'm back in the infirmary. I was attacked in the kitchen. Whoever did it waited until I went into the freezer, somehow followed me in without being seen or heard by anyone in authority or by me, and hit me in the back of the head with a frozen chicken. It may sound funny but that's a deadly weapon and I'm lucky to be alive. I suffered a concussion but no skull fracture. I'm having severe headaches, am blacking out now and then, two days after it happened, and I'm nauseous, dizzy, and disoriented.

2/14: 77-68 over Long Island here. 23 lead changes, 12 ties. We went on a 12-2 run with 3 1/2 minutes left to finally take charge. 17, 8 for Jete, 16, 2, 4 for Mack, 14, 5 for Engo. 9 TOs.

We're tied for 3rd, one game back of 1st, with 5 to play.

Still in the infirmary with all of the same symptoms. I really haven't made any progress and I feel like crap.

Of all the pain and indignity I have suffered here at Walpole State Prison, this may be the worst!

Since you're working in the kitchen, more appropriately the wurst?
