Suspect less about the names, more about the styles/systems the coaches use.

Precisely.

Is anyone interested in putting together a coach file spreedsheet with play styles so that we can all plug them in? I am even willing to make a sort of quick start from sandbox mode can then be then converted to a career mode. I personally just need help with data.

It also seem like a lot of real players are missing traits as well. Lamar Jackson not having a Dual Threat trait probably doesn’t help his running stats. I’m definitely interested in digging into that as well.

Watched a sim on YT by Cards and having Lamar Jackson on just about +200yds rushing, but +5000yds yds looked a bit odd.
If that's the game not giving him that many shots of running as a QB, the coach he is with not letting him, OR something else.

Clearly not very realistic with a running QB like Lamar ending up on just +200yds for a season.

Maybe a tweak is needed in upcoming patches.

For QB rushes you pretty much have to have a coach with the right strategy and a playbook with the right makeup. The CPU doesn't know who Lamar Jackson is... it's only looking at ratings. I've had some seasons where I get him over 800 yards on CPU control, but to get him higher than that the playbook needs to be more highly weighted than what the game does now.

I get that the AI doesn't know who Lamar is, but then maybe the ratings on him, as speed should incite the coach to use him more often. Just as a human would try to do. That's a game programming that if you have a fast QB, as more and more teams have nowadays, the coach should be more willing to use the QB on some running plays or take off from originally a passplay.
Maybe it's the plays in the game that should have more QB-runs in them. I don't know, but to make this game even better I do think something needs to be done on this issue. Perhaps more plays that initially is a pass-play but with a good running QB could send him out on a rush.
The game has changed much on this the last 10 years. In the past you almost only got Randall Cunningham, Bobby Douglas before Michael Vick came along. Today more QBs a tending to take off than just try to pass the ball.

If it is strictly a Coach issue, the possibility to mod the coaches is even greater. Why not make it as in the basketball games. Coaches are moddable in those games. I know NFL coaches needs to be much more complex but you already got many stats in the game so for future version it would be fun to see this area improve.
