Custom Playbook questions

Postby GP089 » Sat Nov 14, 2020 10:03 am

I'm struggling with the process of exporting a custom playbook and importing to another league. I have the Steam version.

I understand where the stock 'plays.xml' is located and the fact that the *.offense file located in the //docs/leagues/league_X folder is just a list of plays and frequencies.

As expected, when trying to import the playbook I get the error message
'Import Done The following plays were not imported because they do not exist in the Default playbooks in the Plays.xml file:.......'

Trying to connect the dots from various posts here on the boards prompts a couple of questions.
-Is there supposed to be an *.xml file related to the custom playbook(?). I've been unable to locate it. Assuming this is where I'm expected to copy from when pasting into the base //DDSPFB21/Data/Plays.xml file.

-What does the 'Export Playbook' button do, specifically? My /Exports folders are all empty. Pressing the button does give me an 'Export Complete' message.

Thanks in advance.

Export playbook creates the .offense and .defense files depending on which playbook you're exporting. You can export and import the playbooks like you've been doing.

Plays.xml is completely separate and has the actual plays the game runs. You don't import/export into that, you mod it. You can also create plays in game using the play creator, but those are stored internally to that league and are not exportable

Sorry, I realize I wasn't clear....I created a book with stock run plays and virtually 100% custom pass plays. The import error cited that fact that none of the pass plays were resident in the plays.xml file.

So we can import and export freely as long as the book contains only the stock plays. Any custom plays created in the editor, we need to mod/append to the plays.xml file for each before the book can be successfully imported/exported. Hopefully I have it right now.
