Newbie: can't play a game

This may seem like such an obvious question but I'm feeling pretty frustrated. I have worked thru pre-season and I am ready to play my first game. However, when I press the green play/sim button I just get returned back to the same screen. I have checked settings and I can't see any reason why I can't play and watch my team. I am stuck.

it shows October 17th on the top right?

Check your d league team and make sure they have enough players. You may have to use commish and sign some players. That happened to me a couple times.

Thanks for the reply but I finally found how to access the D-league and it is fully rostered. This is hugely frustrating for new players. The game should provide an error message to let me know what the problem is and how to fix it. What are the min. max. roster sizes in the NBA. The Suns start with 10 players on their roster and they are over their cap. Do I need to buy more players?

You need at least 11 players, I believe. A full roster has 15. You should be able to get a free agent for minimum(?), or call some guys up from D-League. Or go into commish mode and maybe add some players to the roster?
