Can't see the game

I think I'm going crazy. I have DDS21 loaded on 2 different laptops. After I launch the game (on either laptop) I can't see the opening splash anymore or any other game screen. It (the toolbar at the botton) says the game is running, but I can't see anything. Is there something simple I'm not doing right?
