Hereafter

2/17: Their guards aren't missing. Down 2 after 10. Down 2 at the break. Close all the way so far and their guards are just scoring. Up 3 with 10 left.

76-71. We just do not quit late in the game.

18, 9 for Hart, 11, 9 for Mann, 11, 4, 6 for Maxx. They actually took 6 more shots than we did; very unusual. We won it at the line, 26-34 to 12-16.

Their guards finally cooled off, thankfully, and our bench was up 19-6. We worked for this one.

Utah lost. We're up 3 with 4 to play.

18-8, 10-4 Utah, tied for 2nd, is here. They won by 10 at their place last month. They shot 49.1% to our 31.9%, and they played us tough inside. On paper we're better but we need to make shots and play our game inside.

2/21: They take a lead. Tied after 10. Up 7 at the half. We're smokin'! Up 22 with 10 to go. Mann is hitting everything.

80-67 but we were in total control for most of the 2nd half.

30, 11 for Mann, 13, 9, 4 for Hart, 13, 2, 3 for Maxx. We didn't shoot well, as usual, but we won it at the line, 26-32 to 10-18.

11-15, 5-10 USC is here. We won by 28 there. This should be an easy win.

Campaigning is going on. It's hard to say but their candidates seem to have some support. All of them are outsiders. No members of the bridge crew, no department heads. People who have always been vocal but have never had much experience in actually running things.

Our elections are not heads up, as such. The 12 candidates who get the most votes win. I have to say that they're working hard to make their case.

They say changes need to be made and doing things the same old way is not working.

We say we have the team that stands for stability, good judgment, and experience. A steady hand at the wheel.

We'll see what happens.

2/24: Tough to get the team up for a team like this. We're flat, and they take an early lead. Down 2 after 10. We finally take a lead with 4 left in the half. Up 5 at the break. We're still flat though. Up 11 with 10 left so we're waking up a little. Late run.

82-51. Nothing wrong with the D! 19, 6, 2, 4 steals for Mann, 17, 2, 4 for Maxx, 10, 7 for Hart.

We outshot them, 44.4% to 34.8%, and we were +17 at the line. We controlled the paint.

Really bad news. Starting SF Jon Blen hurt his foot late. It's broken. His college career is over. Sims will take his spot with Milt getting lots of time as the 6th man. This shortens our bench.

At 19-8, 11-5 AZ ST. We won by only 9 at our place. We shot well, controlled the inside, and got good bench play. They can play.

3/3: We're flat again tonight. NOT happy! Tied after 10. Up 7 at the half but I don't like what I'm seeing. Their PF is lighting us up. Run puts us up 12 with 10 left.

93-74. We sure didn't play the D we did last time against them. Their PF had 30.

25, 11 for Hart, 19, 8 for Mann, 16, 3, 5, 3 steals for Maxx, 15, 8 for Milt. Good bench play.

Shooting % was about even but we took 15 more shots, made 6. +9 from the line. We were +18 in the paint.

Mal Mann hurt his back. He's day to day. We can't afford to have him out with our short bench.

We end the regular season 27-3, 16-2, #4, NET #3. No one leaves for the NBA. Didn't expect anyone to but you never know.

+12 PPG, +4.3 RBs, -6.4 TOs.

Mann leads us with 13.4, 8.7. Blen is gone but he was 2nd in scoring, 3rd in RBs. Maxx is 3rd. Hart is 2nd in RBs. Maxx and Ward do a great job of taking care of the ball.

On to the post season!

3/9: We play #8 seed Arizona, 17-14, 7-11, in the PAC 12 quarter finals. Beat them twice. We need to contain their very good guards and control the inside.

The campaign is continuing. The other side is making veiled references to corruption, which is ridiculous. Corruption? We all live in assigned quarters, all the same sized based upon the number of people living in a unit. We don't use money so no one is rich. There's nothing to tempt anyone with. It really is idiotic.

3/10: They score the first 9. We come back. Up 2 after 10. Up 6 at the break. Their guards are getting the points. Up 8 with 10 to play.

80-60. Another late run. 18, 8 for Mann, 17, 7 for Hart, 12, 5 for Milt.

+10 RBs. 14 TOs but they had 21. +12 at the line. +16 in the paint.

#4 seed Utah, 21-10, 12-6, in the semis. We split a pair during the regular season. They're a tough team and they match up well against us.

3/11: Early lead. Up 16 after 10. We're playing well. 50-17 at the half; unbelievable! Up 29 with 10 left.

78-56. It was never a game. 22, 13, 3 for Hart, 13, 7 for Mann, 15, 2, 4 for Maxx. 40-18 in the paint.

It's #2 seed, #21 ranked Arizona ST, 23-8, 13-5, for the title. They crushed UCLA. We split with them, losing badly there. They can score outside and in, and they play good D. We'll have our hands full.

3/12: We take an early lead. Up 4 after 10. It's close! Up 4 at the half. Tied with 10 left.

62-69. They scored the last 8 points. Disappointing.

12, 10 for Sims, 10, 11 for Hart. Neither team shot well. They won it at the line, 16-18 to 6-6.

We really wanted the PAC 12 tourney title. This will drop us from a #1 seed to a #2 or possibly even a #3, though that's not likely.

#1 West. Love it!

We play #16 seed Lipscomb, 15-18. This won't be pretty.

3/17: Early lead as expected. Up 7 after 10. My guys are sluggish. Down 1 at the half. NOT happy!!! Down 10 with 10 left.

We escaped! 77-67. We scored the last 12 points. We were absolutely awful tonight. No energy at all. We're lucky to still be playing.

We shot 36.9%. Took 12 more shots and made one. +8 at the line helped a lot. Their C lit us up for 26, which was a career high for him; doesn't say much for our big guys.

We caused 23 TOs, while committing 12. 9-0 on 2nd chances. I'll probably have a lot of trouble sleeping tonight.

In round 2 we face #8 seed Temple, 22-12. If we actually show up we should beat this team. They're 3-5 vs. ranked opponents so on a good night they can be a challenge.

Tough night for the PAC 12. Three other teams were in the dance. Every one of them was favored to win. Every one of them lost. We almost made it unanimous!

The election is the talk of the ship. The other side is selling paranoia- we're on your side. We're just like you, no bosses, just working people. We haver your interests at heart.

They're also selling corruption- you should see how the Council members live. They've got it made. Every luxury imaginable and they only work a few hours a week. Both of those things are lies. I'd guess most Council workers work many extra hours every week. And luxuries? What luxuries? If anyone wants luxury they simply book time in one of the hole chambers, which anyone can do. There are no luxuries in anyone's living quarters. Hell, there wouldn't be room for any!

I want to fight back and fight hard, but I'm outvoted. Our side has decided to stay with calm, cool, always in control, always in charge, always working for what is best for everyone.

I say crap! You don't beat emotion with logic. Hope I'm wrong.

3/19: Early lead. Hart is getting it done. They come back; down 1 after 10. Down 2 at the break. I raised the roof at halftime. Maxx is lighting it up.

Up 9 with 10 to go.

64-55 and the Sweet Sixteen! We weren't great but we played solid D; they shot 33.3%, 4-14 on threes. We didn't shoot much better but we took 12 more shots, made 5 of them. +6 RBs, 8 fewer TOs.

19, 6, 4 for Maxx, 11, 7, 3 with 4 steals for Hart, 11, 6 for Milt, 9, 11 for Sims.

We'll need to keep playing this kind of D, and find some O, if we hope to keep playing.

#4 seed, #7 ranked Wisconsin, 26-11, in the Sweet Sixteen. Everyone left in this tourney is good. No easy games from here on. They play great D but don't score a lot, and they don't have a go to scorer. We think we're better in the paint but their PF can play. We'll need to turn them over. And offense! We need offense!

Crazy stuff in the tourney. In the East the round of 8 is #7 vs. #8. In the Midwest it's #1 vs. #15. The South has #1, #2, #$, and #11. Our region held except #6 beat #3.

3/24: Early lead but it's close. Up 1 after 10. They go on a run. Uh oh! Down 12 at the half. Down 6 with 10 left.

61-69. They were better. They shot better, they defended better, they made threes, they rebounded.

Hart had 18, 11. No one else did much.

We're losing Jon Blen, Flip Hart, Nat Sims, all starters, and sub guards Hal Huss and Jim Culn. Some good looking recruits coming in though.

The campaign is vicious. I decided to follow my own beliefs and I hit back at the other guys, HARD. I'm convinced it's helping. The rest of the team still isn;t buying it though.

3/28: In a round table forum I did my best to destroy all of the lies and nonsense the other side is putting out. I got lots of applause.

3/31: Election day is tomorrow.

4/1: We won. 8 of our candidates were elected to 4 of theirs. I was hoping for a shutout. It wasn't that. And the 4 they won and 3 that we won were close. I got the most votes and won by the biggest margin. I think that the Council won't be as enjoyable with 4 malcontents there.

4/3: #2 Oklahoma beats #1 Memphis by 9 for the title.

4/4: Awards: Mal Mann is PAC 12 Def. POY and 1st team. Flip Hart makes the 2nd team. I am Conf. COY.

The annual question: Will I move?

No. I received lots of calls but none interested me.

4/15: First Council meeting. The rebels questioned everything, fought against everything, voted against everything. It was awful.

4/23: I ask for a budget increase.

We get $11,500. It will help.

31-5, 262-82, .762 overall. My 3rd 30 win season. Lots of new faces next season!

4/29: 2nd meeting of the new Council. Same nonsense as last time. Council meetings are open to the public, and they're video'd, with the video available both live and at any time after the meeting.

Oh, I was nominated to be the new chair of the Council. I declined and made it very clear that I didn't want the job.

I've been very vocal about asking people to watch. I even put up my own video urging people to watch. It ended with:

“The job of the Council is to work in your best interest. We're supposed to do everything with that in mind. Please watch these last two Council meetings, or as much of them as you can stand. Then ask yourself if that's what you're seeing. If it is. Fine. If not, ask yourself what can be done about it. We had a special election a little while ago. Did it lead to an improvement? If you think it did, fine. If not, you have the right to do something about that.”

That's my message. Yes, I want another special election. These people have nothing positive to say, nothing positive to bring to the Council. They're making it very difficult for the Council to do its work. I'm not happy.
