Hereafter

1/31: #6 Michigan, 18-1, 9-1, is here. This is a very good team. The oddsmakers have it dead evan. There's not much difference in the stats. Their best players are their C, their SF, and their PG. They score 6 more then we do and give up 7 more.

2/1: We take an early lead. Up 9 after 10 in a real shoot out. 43-44 at the half after they stage a big comeback. 3 fouls on Beja. 10 each for Prio and Rich. Their SG has 17. +14 in the paint. They have 10 threes to our 3. Up 10 with 10 to play.

81-68! Big win! 18, 5 for Rich, 18, 1, 3 for Beja, maybe his best game all season. 14, 5, 6 for Prio, 10, 8 for Kruo. +12 for the bench. +13 RBs, +22 in the paint. 9 fewer TOs.

This was a very big win. We have 8 left to play, 4 against top 15 teams, 3 of those on the road. Michigan is now 1 back of us, Maryland is 2 back, Wisconsin and Penn ST are 3 back. We play them all except Penn ST.

Don Beja: Before the game I told Coach I'm really frustrated having to play the Point. I don't feel like I'm getting my shot. He told me to find ways to get my shot. He said he'd love to have a Point who scores. That's all I needed to hear. I wasn't shy about taking my shots and at least tonight, they were going in. That makes me feel a lot better about playing PG.

(Author's note: We're at 100 pages of this Association. Not sure any other association has gone this far. I planned this as a "forever" association, figuring since Jed is in the afterlife he can go on virtually forever. I'm guessing I'll keep it going until i feel like I'm out of ideas. I know PG checks in now and then. Don't know if anyone else is reading this.)

2/5: At 15-6, 5-5 Ohio ST. We won by 26 at our place. They're 1-3 vs. Top 25 teams. They're strong inside but they turn it over.

2/6: It's close early. Up 2 after 10. 42-47 at the half. The numbers are not good, 4 RBs! They're shooting 80%! We really need to wake up! Down 2 with 10 left. We need a run!

77-68. It was 59-59. From there we went 18-9, so we got the run!

17, 3 for Prio, 12, 3, 3 for Rich. 11 each for Walk, Barr, and Lowe. Kruo was plagued by fouls in the 2nd half. +18 for the bench.

11 fewer TOs, +14 down low. They couldn't miss in the first half, and they couldn't make a shot in the 2nd, 35%.

The Council made it illegal to enter a holo chamber alone. The chambers are set up so that they will not admit anyone who is alone. Only one murder happened in the holos but it's a good precaution. People are using the “comfort” programs in the holo and we just don't want them exposing themselves to danger.

“I don't like the 'mommy' aspect of this but I suppose if there's a chance that it will safe lives it's okay as long as we make it clear that it's temporary.”

“I think we all agree that it is only temporary, Mick.”

“I'll be making a motion to end this as soon as we catch the killer.”

I'm reading this (at least now and occasionally, haha :D ). Really interesting concept! I also appreciate your attention to detail.

I need to find a way to liven up the hoops part of this though. I'm getting in a rut regarding game reporting. Thinking about how to change that. My associations always have a back story, often sci fi or sci fi-ish, but not always. Last season I had a coach who was a serial killer. He made through several seasons before he got caught. That one was a lot of fun to write. I've done other in the past, 100 years ago or more, where the team travels by train, and the focus was on what life was like in those days.

2/7: 11-12, 6-7 Iowa is here. We won by 12 there. Their SG and SF can score but we're the better team.

2/8: It's close early. Up 6 after 10; Kruo has 17 already. 45-33. 20 and 5 for Kruo, 10, 7 for Barr. Only 2 TOs. +12 in the paint, +10 from the line. Rich has 3 fouls. Up 26 with 10 to play.

90-69. 22, 11, 6, 10 steals for Prio, a triple double! 28, 11, 3 for Kruo, 14, 9 for Barr. +16 RBs, 9 TOs.

2/10: We have our killer, and it damn near cost June her life. She was at her job in engineering.

Her supervisor, without thinking, sent June to get something on deck 11, in a remote part of the engineering wing. She should have sent two people.

When June got to the room she said she “had a feeling.” She looked around for something to use as a weapon and found a piece of PVC pipe that had been cut to a length of about six inches. She pretended to be looking for something while remaining alert.

After a short time she noticed, out of the corner of her eye, someone sneaking up on her. She waited until he was within range, turner quickly, and jammed the pipe into his groin. She then slammed it across his nose, breaking it.

This slowed him down enough for her to run into the hallway and call for help. Several people working in the area came to her very quickly, and all of them stood guard at the door to the room the killer was in. They held makeshift weapons in case he tried to escape. He didn't.

Eventually security arrived. After a short discussion six security agents rushed through the door.

They found the perp dead. He had slashed his wrists and his own throat.

“Willard Kale. Age 33. I'm sad to say, he was a member of the security team. We're going through his living quarters and his home and work computers to see if we can find anything related to why he did this.”

2/12: At #11, 20-6, 12-3 Maryland. We won by 26 at home. They're 3-5 vs. ranked teams. This shapes up to be a tough road game. They're alone in 3rd, one back of 2nd, one up on 4th, so this is a very big game for them. They score more outside than in. We think we should be able to control the paint; we did last time. We held them to 49 in that game. It will be very difficult to do it again.

Emi Kruo is #12 on the Norton list.

June is not at all traumatized. I was worried that she would be.

“Heck no! I'm so relieved that we don't need to worry about this guy any more. You can feel how relaxed people are after those months of never feeling safe anywhere.”

“You really kept your cool in a terribly dangerous situation.”

“I got the feeling someone was in there and knew I had to be smart or I'd get killed. I couldn't afford to panic. I tried really hard to make it look like I wasn't even thinking about the murderer and had no idea he was sneaking up on me. In pretending to look for something I was able to turn my head just enough to see him without him knowing it. I maybe got a little lucky with my timing; it was close. I knew I wanted to go for his groin and then his nose and I was lucky enough to get him real good in both spots.”

“I'm really proud of you and so happy that it ended the way it dead. The whole ship owes you big time.”

2/13: Early lead. Up 5 after 10. They come back. Down 23-32 at the half. Both Rich and Walk have 3 fouls. 16 called on us, 10 on them. We're shooting very poorly, 29.2% to 47.6% and that's the difference.

“Move without the ball and get open!”

Down 5 with 10 to go. Mini-run puts us ahead.

60-53 in a very low scoring game. We won the 2nd half by 37-21.

17, 4 for Kruo, 10, 12 for Prio.

+11 RBs, +22 in the paint, almost all of it in the 2nd half. But 20 TOs.

#9 Michigan is still one back. Maryland and #14 Wisconsin are 3 back. 6 to play.

“Marta, report.”

“We're still going through Willard's home and work computers. We haven't found anything related to the killings, and there's no journal or diary, or anything like that, either on the computer or paper and pencil.”

“What was he like? What do the people he work with say about him? Any friends? Any romantic affairs?”

“No surprise, but he was a loner. People who do these kinds of things are almost always loners who live in a fantasy world. He really didn't have any friends at work, or anywhere else we can find. No romantic partners. He regularly used holo programs related to sex, especially violent sex, but lots of people use those programs and they don't ever hurt anyone.”

“The psychologists say most people who use those programs get out their hostilities in the holo and don't need to act them out in real life, which is why they're available.”

“Oh believe me, security has read all of those reports. The crime stats bear that out. There are almost never any rapes. Hard to know how much spousal abuse there is because that is so rarely reported, but we think the numbers are likely very low. When we've finished going through the computers we'll report back. If we find anything significant before we finish I'll apprise the Council of that.”

Game recaps seem to be the most boring element of any story narrative. I think your concepts are pretty intriguing, I’ll definitely keep an eye on future threads of yours (it is tough to jump into one that’s already almost 100 pages deep haha). You and PointGuard seem to be the local legends in the Dynasty Reports realm.

PG and I kind of feel like we "host" the College hoops forum and we both create lots of dynasties. But we love it when new people join in.

2/16: We're in the middle of a 3 game road trip. At 8-14, 5-8 Minnesota. Their starting SG and his backup are both out with severe back issues. They have a very good PG. They don't score many and they give up 3.5 more than they score. 2-5 vs. ranked teams.

2/17: Early lead. Up 16 after 10. 33-15 at the break. 12, 8 for Kruo. PG Don Beja has 3 fouls. +12 RBs, +12 inside. They're shooting 24%, 0-7 on threes. Up 17 with 10 left.

71-48. Our O has been sluggish lately but there's nothing wrong with our D!

25, 13 for Kruo, 15, 5, 5, 4 for Prio, 11, 6, 5 for Walk, 7, 12 for Rich. But 22 TOs; not good!

Michigan lost so we now have a 2 game lead with 5 to play. 3rd place teams are 4 back.

Sam Prio: I'm a little disappointed in my season. I expected to be one of the top 25 players in the country, in the least. I hoped to be good enough to be a lottery pick in the draft. Now I'm not sure I'm going to go pro. I might stay for my senior year hoping to have the kind of year I'm not having this year. I mean I'm doing okay, but just not that great.
