Dick Vermeil and Jahri Evans Join Brawlers' Ownership Group

May 8, 2015

Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia Brawlers are pleased to announce two new exciting additions to their ownership group - Super Bowl Championship-winning and former Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach, Dick Vermeil, and current New Orleans Saints' Offensive Lineman and Philadelphia native, Jahri Evans. The dynamic duo join the existing ownership group which consists of George Randolph Hearst III, Ron Jaworski, Craig Spencer, Pete Ciarrocchi, Cosmo DeNicola, Marty Judge and New Orleans Saints' Marques Colston as minority owners.

"These are dynamic additions to an already impressive ownership group," said Philadelphia Brawlers minority owner, Ron Jaworski. "Dick Vermeil is a legendary name in Philadelphia and in professional football. Jahri clearly has a vision of 'life after football' and is serious about his involvement with the business side of sports. Both are champions at the highest levels and match our group's core values and drive to be the best on and off the field."

"Philadelphia is the greatest football city in America. I am absolutely thrilled to be associated with a group of people who want to bring quality professional football to Philadelphia and who are committed to winning," said Vermeil.

Very impressive longevity and you have some very interesting insight about the ownership side of operations!!! The story elements are excellent, going back into the previous history and enhancing it since you already have the outline already would be awesome as well, it is absolutely adding. It seems the McMahon group is owning less and less of the league.

If there's one thing I would love to see, maybe like a by-the-decade recap of each franchise. I can figure pretty well from the finances summary who are the most successful franchises with the bonus structure you mentioned earlier, but would be great to see a summary of the decisions that ended up being champion-makers or totally disasterous!! Even in the simplest way maybe just some prior championship years under the team logos on the season roster previews. Love it man, keep it up!!!

Appreciate the compliments and that is a great idea. I think I can add those prior to the next season while I'm going back and adding story elements.

Conquerors Moving To Germany

July 26, 2015

Las Vegas, NV - Las Vegas Conquerors owner Bill Hambrecht announced the team is in the final stages of moving to Cologne, Germany for the 2016 season. "It became quite obvious over the last couple of years we were going to eventually move to a different city," stated Conquerors Owner, Bill Hambrecht. "Constantly growing stadium expenses had led to crippling operational cost in Las Vegas. Now was the right time to move the Conquerors into an exciting new city that will help us become the premier franchise in the XFL."

Second Developmental Team Coming to Austin

August 10, 2015

Austin, TX - Former XFL players Tommie Harris, a three-time NFL Pro Bowl defensive tackle, and Eric Bassey have plans to launch the Austin Generals as a developmental team with a lot of innovative ideas. The XFL will now be having two developmental teams for the 24 team league. The already established Austin Road Warriors will serve as the universal practice squad for the Eastern division while the Generals will now be that team for the Western division.

“This team will provide the opportunity for players who otherwise might not get it,” Bassey says. “There’s those 30-50 players who don’t get drafted and this would be a perfect opportunity for them. We’re talking about extremely good athletes, and we will set up a platform for those guys to get an opportunity to prove themselves. Sometimes they are not ready to play at that pace of the NFL, XFL or CFL when they get out of school. Maybe they just need that one year or two years.”

“The reason I locked into this is because I had an opportunity to play ball,” Harris says. “I had an opportunity to see great talent come along that was cut before they even had a chance to show their talent off. What’s greater than to have another opportunity where you can put this kid on ice, then call him up when he’s ready? They can go somewhere, get six games, and get fresh on their talent. I want to be judged by how many guys you develop and advance.”

Cologne Defenders Set to Join XFL

September 5, 2015

Cologne, GERMANY - Hambrecht Sports & Entertainment LLC announced that the team will be named the Cologne Defenders based on a name the team contest. "The XFL is an extremely fan-friendly league and we felt it would be appropriate to have the fans of Germany involved in the selection of the team name," said Bill Hambrecht, team Owner. "I think 'Defenders' is a great name. It has a special meaning because it has obvious ties to the awesome tradition of football here in Cologne and the entire country of Germany. The name 'Defenders' also speaks to the physical, hard-hitting nature of the XFL."

"I have always known that the football fans of Germany are the best around, but we were overwhelmed by the incredible response to this contest," said head coach Dennis Green. "With such great fans, I can't wait until our team takes the field in February."

"We want to have a strong foreign presence, and Cologne, a booming metropolitan area with a passionate fan base across all sports, is another step in the right direction," said Dick Ebersol, co-founder. "Fan engagement is critical to our success and we look forward to this city embracing the experience and fueling the XFL forward."

Pittsburgh Maulers change Colors to Black & Gold

November 24, 2016

Pittsburgh, PA - The Pittsburgh Maulers are joining the club. Like virtually the rest of the professional sports teams, the XFL Maulers will wear black and gold this season the team announced. The Maulers had a purple and orang scheme the last two seasons. Now, the Maulers join the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates donning the black and gold. Pittsburgh is the rare city to match colors across all major sports. There's no question this color scheme is serious to the city.

"The decision has been well-received, it's something many fans were asking for," said minority owner Lynn Swann. "We also wanted to strengthen our logo. We think the new logo and colors better represent the strength of Pittsburgh."

Blackmon Arrested for DUI, Rice Blocked from XFL

January 15, 2016

New York, NY - San Antonio Commanders troubled WR Justin Blackmon was arrested for a DUI in his hometown Ardmore, Oklahoma on December 19, 2015 and today, he was suspended indefinitely from the XFL. Vince McMahon commented on the news earlier this morning, "Justin has had plenty of chances to get his life in order in the NFL and he wasn't able to do it. He's a selfish individual. We don't want selfish individuals in our league. I don't want any players like that in our league.”

McMahon blocked the drafting and signing of Ray Rice earlier this offseason by the Memphis Express. Rice was arrested for domestic violence in August of 2014 and subsequently released by the Baltimore Ravens on September 8, 2014.
