12/22: 6-3 Charlotte in the JAG Holiday Invitational. We’re the #1 seed, they’re #8. . They’re good. We’ll need to play well.

12/23: Early lead. They come back. Down 1 after 10. 51-42 at halftime. 14 for Shin, 11 for Pipe, 10 each for Bant and Garr. +18 in the paint. But they’ve hit 11 threes.

Holding our lead early. Up 15 with 10 left.

90-74. 24, 5 for Bant, 19, 8 for Garr, 17, 5 for Shin, 13, 3, 4, 3 for Pipe. 6 TOs. +30 in the lane.

#5 seed Boston College, 6-6, in the semifinals.

12/24: Close early. Down 2 after 10. 45-48 at the half. Lousy D, they’re shooting 67.9%. 13 for Pipe, 11, 2, 3 for Bant.

Close early. Up 1 with 10 to play. Close late.

95-98. We miss a late three. 27, 4, 3, 4 for Pipe, 15, 4, 3 blocks for Garr.

This is a team we should have beat.

We end pre-conf play at 7-3.

Bant leads in points and RBs with 15.1, 7.1. Pipe gets 14.2. Mast gets 12.1, 6.4 assists. 11.5, 5.0 for Garr, 10.8, 5.1 for Shin.

+9.1 PPG, +0.5 RBs, -5.9 TOs but a not very good 12.5 per game.

12/26: Back and forth early. Down 2 after 10. 41-34 at halftime. 13, 3, 6 for Mast, 10, 3 for Bant.

Big lead early. Up 11 with 10 to go.

74-61. 22, 8 for Bant, 13, 3, 11 for Mast, 13, 5, 1, 3 for Shin.

The baby’s bedroom is now ready. It’s a long way until the end of May but better to be prepared.

11/27: At 4-6, 0-1 VA Tech. They give up a lot of points.

11/28: Back and forth early. Down 5 after 10. They take a double digit lead. 37-52. Poor D again.

We’re way behind early. Down 18 with 10 left.

92-100. Our D is pretty awful. 24, 12, 3 blocks for Bant, 16, 7 for Garr, 13, 9 for Mast.

“Damn this is frustrating.”

“We’re a year away, Jess. That’s all there is too it. Maybe 2 years.”

“Yeah but I don’t feel like we’re playing as good as we should be.”

1/1/2036: #6 ranked Duke, 11-2, 2-0, is here. This could be ugly.

1/2: Back and forth early. Down 1 after 10. 32-41 at halftime. The calls are going against us.

Trailing early. Down 7 with 10 to play. Tied with 6 to play. The refs are killing us.

66-76. The refs did us in. They went to the line 36 times, to our 20. 14, 6 for Garr. +12 in the paint. A terrible 21 TOs.

“Dan Fran, EPSN. Tough loss, Coach.”

“I thought we played well against an excellent team. I don’t talk about officiating much but the refs were exceptionally awful tonight.”

1/3: At #13 Virginia, 10-4, 0-3. They play really good D.

1/4: Early lead. Up 7 after 10. 31-28 at the half. 10, 4 for Shin.

Close early. They take the lead. Down 15 with 10 to go.

53-84. We were awful in the 2nd half, 22-56. 14, 4 for both Garr and Shin.

Von continues to be healthy and to work normally.

1/9: We score the first 11. Up 3 after 10. Run! Up 51-35 at the half. 12, 3 for Pipe. 3 TOs.

Up 11 with 10 to play.

95-78. 17, 4, 3 for Pipe, 17, 6 for Shin, 10, 5, 8 for Mast. 6 TOs.

1/10: At 10-6, 3-2 Florida ST.

1/11: Back and forth early. Down 7 after 10. 37-44 at halftime. 14, 3 for Mast, 11, 4 for Garr. Down early. Down 10 with 10 to go. We fall way behind.

52-77. Awful. 16, 6 for Garr, 14, 3 for Mast.

“We don’t have a consistent scorer. I thought Bant and Pipe would do that but they haven’t.“

They narrow the gap early. We widen it again. Up 13 with 10 left.

85-68. 18, 9 for Bant, 12, 11, 3 for May, 13, 6 for Garr, 16, 3, 4, 3 for Pipe. 5 TOs.

1/17: #24 North Carolina, 11-7, 2-5.

1/18: Close early. Down 1 after 10. 38-42 at halftime. 11 for Wall.

They lead early. Down 5 with 10 to play. Tied with 6 to go.

76-84. 18, 9 for Garr, 13, 0, 6 for Mast.

“How many kids do you want, Jess?”

“Maybe 3 or 4.”

“I’d like that, too, if we can handle them. I don’t want a nanny to bring up my kids.”

Shin strained his abdominals. 2 weeks. He’ll play but his time will be limited.

1/24: At 12-8, 5-4 Southern Methodist.

1/25: Close early. Down 3 after 10. 4-22 shooting. They take a double digit lead. 24-41. We shot 28.6%.

Down 12 with 10 to go.

65-79. 18, 3 for Bant, 17, 5 for Garr, 12, 10 for May.

Good lead early. Up 11 with 10 left.

86-65. 23, 11, 4 for Bant, 15, 7, 4 for Garr, 11, 3, 7 for Mast, 10, 7 for Malo.

1/31: 14-8, 5-6 GA Tech is here.

Shin is back to 100%.

2/1: Early lead. Up 8 after 10. 42-29 at the half. 10, 3 for Bant who has been hot lately.

20 point lead early. Up 16 with 10 to play.

91-72. 24, 4, 4 for Mast, 17, 8, 3 , 4 blocks for Bant, 10, 6, 5 for Pipe. Only 8 TOs.

83-63. 19, 7 for Garr, 13, 16, 3 for Bant, 14, 11, 3 for Shin. Only 8 TOs.

Jess May has bronchitis. Day to day.

96-79. Terrific bench play, 26, 7 for Shin, 15 for Malo. 15, 12, 3 for May, 10, 5, 5 for Pipe. 8 TOs. +24 in the lane.

2/14: At 16-10, 7-8 NC ST. They’re tough inside.

2/15: Back and forth early. Tied after 10. Down 26-30 at the half. Shooting 33.3%.

They take a double digit lead early. Down 13 with 10 to go.

57-69. We shot 32.7%.

92-121. The most points any of my teams has ever given up. 29, 9, 3 blocks for Bant, 24, 1, 7, 3 for Mast.

2/21: At 12-14, 4-13 Pitt. We won by 30 at our place.

2/22: They lead early. Up 5 after 10. 54-42 at halftime. 16, 10, 3 for Bant, 18 for Pipe.

Up 14 after 10.

106-94. 22, 13, 3 for Bant, 13, 3, 15 for Mat, 19, 7 for Garr, 18 for Pipe.

Von is definitely showing but everything is still going smoothly.
