We smash the Bulls 105-86. Kevin King again top scores with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists but he shot 7/20 from the field. Rajon Rondo helped out again with 14 points and 12 assists. Carlos Boozer had a crazy game with 25 points and 18 rebounds but was hindered by Derrick Rose’s 11 turnovers.

Our first loss of the season comes at the hands of the Detroit Pistons 92-86 with rookie sensation Travis Randolph putting up 19 points, 19 rebounds and 6 blcoks, helped by SF Ben Gordon’s 14 points. That’s right, they have Ben Gordon at SF and Andre Iguodala at SG. I guess it’s working for them. Tim Mozgov tries his best against Randolph with 17 rebounds and 5 blocks but fouls out. Rajon Rondo has 15 assists.

We beat a very good Dallas team 106-96 in Dallas behind Tim Mozgov’s 24 points and 17 rebounds. DeMar DeRozan scores 13 points in 19 minutes off the bench. Antawn Jamison is starting over Sam Dalembert now, so I’m going to have to keep an eye on the situation. Dirk Nowitzki scores 25 points as they shoot 51% to our 44% yet we still win by 10.

In a huge game after ours, Philadelphia out lasts Atlanta 133-129 in triple overtime. Joe Johnson scores 50 points (with only 2 free throw attempts) for the loses as the 76ers have 3 players over 20 points.
Shooting 39% from the field is never going to get a win as we lose 116-85 to the Trailblazers. LaMarcus Aldridge rips us for 24 points and 11 rebounds as our only light was Kevin King with 24 points on 24 shots.

We stomp the Cavs 107-89 as we had 7 players in double figures behind Tim Mozgov’s 21 points. Carmelo Anthony had 29 points for his new team.

Lebron James isn’t back yet and Kevin King takes full advantage with 25 points on Rasual Butler. Ed Davis has 12 points and 5 blocks off the bench as Rondo again had 15+ assists with 16. He also had Dwayne Wade’s number as the Wade only shot 3/12 for 10 points and 5 turnovers.

Cole Aldrich has been sensational for Oklahoma City and again he stepped up with 22 rebounds and 4 blocks. It wasn’t enough though as we win 92-86. Tim Mozgov goes toe to toe with Aldrich with 12 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks, coupled with Ed Davis’ 7 blocks in Antawn Jamison’s injured absence.

In the first 10 games, Rajon Rondo has 127 assists to 15 turnovers which is an assist to turnover ratio of 8.5. Crazy.
The Cavs goes down again as we beat them 93-83 in Cleveland. Rajon Rondo is player of the game with 17 points and 15 assists, helped by Shane Battier’s 17 points. Yao Ming tries his best with 20 points and 10 rebounds while Carmelo Anthony shoots 7/19 for 16 points.

It’s an ugly win over Philadelphia 96-79. They shoot 36% with Jrue Holiday top scoring with 16 points. DeMar DeRozan keeps it from being a total snore with 19 points off the bench.

Its 8 wins on the trot with a 116-109 silencing of Milwaukee. Kevin King shoots better for 33 points and 6 steals helped by Sam Dalembert’s 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks off the bench. Our bench is really stepping up this year, giving our starters plenty of time to rest. Andrew Bogut stellar play against us continues with 24 points and 15 rebounds.

Another night, another win over Minnesota 105-98. Andre Miller scores 13 points and dishes 5 assists in 12 minutes to back up Rajon Rondo. Kevin King again tops 20 points with 25. Newly loaded Kevin Love top scores with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

So much for Boston being ranked second last, as they are now 9-3 and we go into Boston having a huge target on our back and we win by 37 points 111-74. Kevin King is monstering it with 37 points and 10 rebounds. Sam Dalembert has 13 rebounds off the bench as we out rebound the Celtics 55-31. Andrea Bargnani was the only one who showed up with 18 points on 5/14 shooting.

Kevin Durant from the Oklahoma City Thunder won the first Player of the Month award by averaging 28.8 points, 2.3 assists, 7.5 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks while leading his team to a 10-6 record.
#1 draft pick Travis Randolph was named Rookie of the Month of November with is 13.4 points, 0.9 assists, 10.6 rebounds, 0.5 steals and 3.1 blocks with the Detroit Pistons who started the season 8-6.
Randolph is made of glass and has a terrible attitude as I have said before, so I’m interested to see what happens with him this season. He will put up great numbers but his teammates will hate him.
We beat the quality Knicks 121-105 behind 7 players in double figures, lead by Kevin King and Antawn Jamison with 23 each. Amar’e Stoudemire nets 22 points, 16 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Atlanta has been bad this year and we lump more pain on them with a 97-81 win in Atlanta. Rajon Rondo has 15 points, 12 assists and 8 rebounds with help from Tim Mozgov with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Joe Johnson scores 24 points and surprising rookie Brian Johnson has 12 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks.

Huge game tonight with the top two teams of the East (us and 15-4 Orlando) matching up and our streak is finally broken as we go down in Orlando 109-90. Dwight Howard has 30 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. We have 5 players in double figures but we shoot only 38% to their 55%. We will get back at them in Toronto.

We get back to our winning ways with a home victory 110-80 over San Antonio. Rajon Rondo plays sublimely with 32 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds but Antawn Jamison came back too early and re-sprained his finger and will be out for 2 weeks. Manu Ginobili top scored with 23 for the Spurs but their time is over.

We withstand Deron Williams’ 26 points, 11 assists and 6 rebounds as we win 107-96 behind Tim Mozgov’s 29 points and 4 blocks. Shane Battier shows that he still has it with 23 points. Kevin King has a tough game against the bigger Andrei Kirilenko and shot only 3/13 for 11 points.

Miami has been pretty poor without Lebron but they still hammer us 103-80 with Dwayne Wade showing the way with 23 points and 10 assists. Tim Mozgov has 23 points and 21 rebounds but we shoot horribly which doomed us from the start.

We demolish Chicago 122-95 as we shoot 56% from the field. Kevin King comes out of his mini-slump with 29 points, with 5 other people in double figures. Derrick Rose outplays Rajon Rondo with 23 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds but didn’t get any help.

We have a habit of losing to bad teams and it continues here with a 106-96 loss to Philadelphia in Toronto. Wes Johnson is playing fantastically with 29 points and 9 rebounds helped by Rodney Stuckey’s 22 points. Kevin King has 25 points but there isn’t much help.

Lightning quick and can pass the ball. Must be talented if a freshman is starting at PG for the Spartans.
3 – C Justin Cabrera (Vanderbilt) Sophomore
Another small C in the mould of recent #1 pick Travis Randolph who engulfs rebounds. No where near the offensive juggernaut Randolph is but is a great defender.
4 – PF Andrew Reed (Connecticut) Freshman
A skinny PF who is in the mould of Lamar Odom who can run the fast break and take bigger guys off the dribble.
5 – SF Joe Taylor (Missouri) Sophomore
Massive SF who is the same height as Cabrera and nearly as heavy. Think Lebron James size (not skills though) who just bulldozers over everyone.

The winner of the December Player of the Month went to Golden State’s Monta Ellis. Ellis averaged 26.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.1 steals in the month, with the Warriors going 11-2.
Travis Randolph from the Detroit Pistons was again named Rookie of the Month. For the month of December he averaged 14.0 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 3.3 blocks per game as the Pistons went 3-13 for the month.

Jamal Crawford steps up for the Magic with 36 points and Dwight Howard has his usual 16 points and 16 rebounds, but that was diffused by Rajon Rondo’s 24 points and 11 assists.

Ed Davis has 12 points in 9 minutes off the bench. Wesley Johnson continues his stellar season for the 76ers with 22 points.

Tim Mozgov chipped in with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Joe Johnson shoots 22 shots but only collects 17 points for them as their best.

Dirk Nowitzki has 20 points, while Brendan Haywood shows that last season’s all star nod wasn’t a fluke with 13 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks. We have 5 players in double figures and Shane Battier has 5 blocks but we were outmuscled from the start.

We squeak out a 121-120 win in Indiana as they tried to show that they don’t need Al Hoford. Kevin King had 32 points, Tim Mozgov had 22 points, 10 rebounds and Rajon Rondo had 17 assists for the winners while Indiana had 3 players with 20 or more. Michael Sims and Roy Hibbert combined for 18/22 shooting and 44 points.

Andrea Bargnani finally gets his revenge as the Celtics stomp us 123-104 as we finally lose our 10th game of the season. Bargnani has 28 points coupled with Kevin Garnett’s 21 playing as SG! That’s right, the 6’11 Kevin Garnett was at the 2. Bonkers. Kevin King scores 30 points but we didn’t have much help on the other end as Boston shoots 62% from the field.

We go back to Toronto with Boston in tow and destroy them 130-85. We had 7 players in double figures lead by Kevin King’s 35 points. Andre Miller stepped from the bench with 19 points and 6 assists in 16 minutes. Tracy McGrady was their only standout with 21 points off the bench.

Ed Davis and DeMar DeRozan both have 18 points off the bench as we beat the Clippers 107-78. Blake Griffin is held to 5 points and we hold them to 34 points in the second half alone.

Kevin King and Rajon Rondo are becoming a great pairing with the former netting 25 points and 8 rebounds while the latter had 16 points and 16 assists. Gilbert Arenas led the Wizards with 27 points.

Charlotte put up a fight as we eke out a 92-90 win in Charlotte. They shot better than us and we shot 8/18 free throws so it’s amazing that we won. Gerald Wallace had 21 points and the rookie I panned, Michael Webb, had 10 points and 11 rebounds. 6’8 Stephen Jackson is their starting PG and he had 18 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Kevin King was again over 20 points with 23, but there wasn’t much else.

This is a good stretch for us against sub 500 teams, this time we win 110-96 over a pitiful Houston outfit. Tim Mozgov has 24 poinst and 10 rebounds, while Kevin King has 33 points. Rajon Rondo only scores 4 points but dishes 11 assists. Houston is looking awful this year, and are already looking to next season.

Monta Ellis has won his second consecutive Player of the Month award, winning the January title. He averaged 28.1 points, 4.3 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 steals for the month as Golden State went 12-4 for that period.
Detroit’s Travis Randolph again won the Rookie of the Month title, this time averaging 12.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.7 blocks in 10 games before breaking his hand. The Pistons went 3-7 in those 10 games.
There were no trades for the month, and I don’t think I will be making any moves in the near future.
We let Milwaukee shoot 51% from the field as we lose our first game of the month 118-106. Andrew Bogut always well against us and puts up 23 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks, coupled with Brandon Jennings’ 23 points and 13 assists. Kevin King had 30 points but only 4 rebounds while DeMar DeRozan had 17 points off the bench.

We keep Kevin Love to 4/12 for 14 points and only 6 rebounds as we win big 117-89 over Minnesota. Kevin King scores 27 points, helped by Antawn Jamison (15 points), Tim Mozgov (17 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks) and Rajon Rondo (17 points and 13 assists). It’s always good to follow a loss with a win so a losing streak doesn’t get going.

The Knicks have been good but we have been better as we win in New York 119-96. Rajon Rondo serves up the plates with 19 assists with 19 points, and Ed Davis is a supersub with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Amar’e Stoudemire shows that he doesn’t need Tim Mozgov with 32 points and 13 rebounds while keeping Tim to 15 minutes because of foul trouble.

A ripper of a game between two giants of the league as the Lakers claw back from a 23 point deficit to force overtime, and then double overtime but we get out in the end with a 131-125 win. Kevin King has his best game as a Raptor with 29 points, 11 assists and 8 rebounds with 5 other players in double figures with Rajon Rondo had 16 assists. Pau Gasol had 27 points and 10 rebounds while Jonas Jerebko had 22 points in 20 minutes. This game put a smile on my face because we out rebounded their monster front line 43-34. Last year it would have been the other way around.

We sneak out a 110-105 win in Philadelphia. Another game and another 5 players in double figures led by Rajon Rondo with 17 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds helped out by Sam Dalembert off the bench again with 16 points in 14 minutes. Rodney Stuckey had 30 points and Jrue Holiday 22, but nothing much else.

I’m so excited about our depth as we outlast Memphis 112-97, led by Kevin King’s 20 points and Antawn Jamison having 17 poionts and 13 rebounds. We keep the Grizzlies to 40% with Boleslav Silajdic playing best with 17 points and 13 assists. I was quick to peg him has a small lazy player but he has made me eat a little crow, averaging 11.8 points and 6.2 assists this year. I’m sorry Boleslav.

The Spurs have been poor this year but that didn’t stop them from whomping us 106-86 in San Antonio. Tiago Splitter has been playing well this year and gets 22 points tonight helped by Manu Ginobili’s 23 points. Kevin King is the only Raptor to put up any resistance with 37 points but I want to put this game behind us.

We lose to the awful Rockets 99-92 as we shoot 35% to their 51%. Aaron Brooks was electric with 26 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds as Tim Mozgov tried to counter with 25 points and 16 rebounds but we flat out sucked.

It’s All Star Weekend Time! Woo-woo!
Pape Sy (ATL) shows his mastery of the dunk contest, going back to back with a 78-66 victory over Stanley Robinson (NOH). Other contestants were Rodney Benoit (SAC) and Gerald Henderson (CHA).
Nate Robinson (CLE) is more than a tiny dunker as he won the long distance shootout, beating Mike Miller (MIA) and Anthony Morrow (NJN) in the final. Andrea Barganani was asked to play and did not embarrass himself.
Kevin King does Canada proud by taking the Rookie/Sophomore game MVP as the second years won 129-101. Brandon Dawson (NOH) helped him with 21 points. The best for the rookies was Richard Ward (BOS) with 16 points and 8 assists while Corey Hines (PHI), the player I was tossing up with Trent Bailey, had 17 points off the bench.
For some reason Rajon Rondo was not invited to the All Star game, but we did have one Raptor, Kevin King, who had 9 points and 7 steals as the East won comfortably 143-114. Chris Bosh (MIA) was named MVP with 24 points and shooting 9/9, shading out Danny Granger (IND) shooting 7/7 for 23 points. Monta Ellis (GSW) was the best for the West with 31 points. The strangest selection BY FAR was Trevor Ariza (NOH) STARTING. This is a guy averaging 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists this season over Kevin Durant, the leading scorer for the league. Sure Durant has missed 12 games but that is definitely not enough to not be selected.
We break our small losing streak with a 106-103 away win over Utah. Rajon Rondo is the player of the game with 18 points and 16 assists while Sam Dalembert has 14 points off the bench. Newly traded Andre Iguodala (trade report next month) had 20 points, while starting C Nikola Pekovic had a field day with 24 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. Deron Williams helped out with 13 assists.

We lose again against the Clippers 112-100 as Blake Griffin goes off for 34 points and 14 rebounds on 15/18 shooting. Kevin King again was the highlight for our team with 32 points but only shot 1/10 from the 3. After the game Sam Dalembert blasted Rudy T over playing time, and of course I sided with the coach. And of course Sam was not happy with that. I’m not sure what to do with him, I can’t trade him because it’s too late and I trust Rudy T’s judgement over playing time so I’m just going to sit on it for a while.

Hmm, Blake Griffin is a free agent this year as well, makes things very interesting.
Another high scoring game as we get past Oklahoma City 115-107. Kevin Durant is still out so our Kevin went to town with 28 points. Rajon Rondo will get a triple double one day, but not today as he racked up 17 points, 15 assists and 9 rebounds helped by Tim Mozgov’s 14 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks. Cole Aldrich was the best for the Thunder with 20 points and 8 rebounds as they had 7 players in double figures but it wasn’t enough.

Golden State has been a great surprise as they are second in the West but we keep them under 80 points in a 91-79 win. Tim Mozgov keeps Spencer Hawes scoreless and he had 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks in return. Sam Dalembert had 9 rebounds in 14 minutes but he still isn’t happy. The Warriors great backcourt kept them in the game as both Steph Curry and Monta Ellis had 18 points apiece.

So at the end of February we are running away with the East lead as we are 6 games in front of second place Orlando and 7.5 games in front of third (New York). Atlanta is last with a 20-38 record, 24.5 games behind us.

Detroit’s Travis Randolph again won the Rookie of the Month title, this time averaging 12.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.7 blocks in 10 games before breaking his hand. The Pistons went 3-7 in those 10 games.
There were no trades for the month, and I don’t think I will be making any moves in the near future.
We let Milwaukee shoot 51% from the field as we lose our first game of the month 118-106. Andrew Bogut always well against us and puts up 23 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks, coupled with Brandon Jennings’ 23 points and 13 assists. Kevin King had 30 points but only 4 rebounds while DeMar DeRozan had 17 points off the bench.
Toronto Raptors 37-11
We keep Kevin Love to 4/12 for 14 points and only 6 rebounds as we win big 117-89 over Minnesota. Kevin King scores 27 points, helped by Antawn Jamison (15 points), Tim Mozgov (17 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks) and Rajon Rondo (17 points and 13 assists). It’s always good to follow a loss with a win so a losing streak doesn’t get going.
Toronto Raptors 38-11
The Knicks have been good but we have been better as we win in New York 119-96. Rajon Rondo serves up the plates with 19 assists with 19 points, and Ed Davis is a supersub with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Amar’e Stoudemire shows that he doesn’t need Tim Mozgov with 32 points and 13 rebounds while keeping Tim to 15 minutes because of foul trouble.

A ripper of a game between two giants of the league as the Lakers claw back from a 23 point deficit to force overtime, and then double overtime but we get out in the end with a 131-125 win. Kevin King has his best game as a Raptor with 29 points, 11 assists and 8 rebounds with 5 other players in double figures with Rajon Rondo had 16 assists. Pau Gasol had 27 points and 10 rebounds while Jonas Jerebko had 22 points in 20 minutes. This game put a smile on my face because we out rebounded their monster front line 43-34. Last year it would have been the other way around.
Toronto Raptors 40-11
We sneak out a 110-105 win in Philadelphia. Another game and another 5 players in double figures led by Rajon Rondo with 17 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds helped out by Sam Dalembert off the bench again with 16 points in 14 minutes. Rodney Stuckey had 30 points and Jrue Holiday 22, but nothing much else.

I’m so excited about our depth as we outlast Memphis 112-97, led by Kevin King’s 20 points and Antawn Jamison having 17 poionts and 13 rebounds. We keep the Grizzlies to 40% with Boleslav Silajdic playing best with 17 points and 13 assists. I was quick to peg him has a small lazy player but he has made me eat a little crow, averaging 11.8 points and 6.2 assists this year. I’m sorry Boleslav.

The Spurs have been poor this year but that didn’t stop them from whomping us 106-86 in San Antonio. Tiago Splitter has been playing well this year and gets 22 points tonight helped by Manu Ginobili’s 23 points. Kevin King is the only Raptor to put up any resistance with 37 points but I want to put this game behind us.

We lose to the awful Rockets 99-92 as we shoot 35% to their 51%. Aaron Brooks was electric with 26 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds as Tim Mozgov tried to counter with 25 points and 16 rebounds but we flat out sucked.

It’s All Star Weekend Time! Woo-woo!
Pape Sy (ATL) shows his mastery of the dunk contest, going back to back with a 78-66 victory over Stanley Robinson (NOH). Other contestants were Rodney Benoit (SAC) and Gerald Henderson (CHA).
Nate Robinson (CLE) is more than a tiny dunker as he won the long distance shootout, beating Mike Miller (MIA) and Anthony Morrow (NJN) in the final. Andrea Barganani was asked to play and did not embarrass himself.
Kevin King does Canada proud by taking the Rookie/Sophomore game MVP as the second years won 129-101. Brandon Dawson (NOH) helped him with 21 points. The best for the rookies was Richard Ward (BOS) with 16 points and 8 assists while Corey Hines (PHI), the player I was tossing up with Trent Bailey, had 17 points off the bench.
For some reason Rajon Rondo was not invited to the All Star game, but we did have one Raptor, Kevin King, who had 9 points and 7 steals as the East won comfortably 143-114. Chris Bosh (MIA) was named MVP with 24 points and shooting 9/9, shading out Danny Granger (IND) shooting 7/7 for 23 points. Monta Ellis (GSW) was the best for the West with 31 points. The strangest selection BY FAR was Trevor Ariza (NOH) STARTING. This is a guy averaging 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists this season over Kevin Durant, the leading scorer for the league. Sure Durant has missed 12 games but that is definitely not enough to not be selected.
We break our small losing streak with a 106-103 away win over Utah. Rajon Rondo is the player of the game with 18 points and 16 assists while Sam Dalembert has 14 points off the bench. Newly traded Andre Iguodala (trade report next month) had 20 points, while starting C Nikola Pekovic had a field day with 24 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. Deron Williams helped out with 13 assists.

We lose again against the Clippers 112-100 as Blake Griffin goes off for 34 points and 14 rebounds on 15/18 shooting. Kevin King again was the highlight for our team with 32 points but only shot 1/10 from the 3. After the game Sam Dalembert blasted Rudy T over playing time, and of course I sided with the coach. And of course Sam was not happy with that. I’m not sure what to do with him, I can’t trade him because it’s too late and I trust Rudy T’s judgement over playing time so I’m just going to sit on it for a while.

Hmm, Blake Griffin is a free agent this year as well, makes things very interesting.
Another high scoring game as we get past Oklahoma City 115-107. Kevin Durant is still out so our Kevin went to town with 28 points. Rajon Rondo will get a triple double one day, but not today as he racked up 17 points, 15 assists and 9 rebounds helped by Tim Mozgov’s 14 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks. Cole Aldrich was the best for the Thunder with 20 points and 8 rebounds as they had 7 players in double figures but it wasn’t enough.

Golden State has been a great surprise as they are second in the West but we keep them under 80 points in a 91-79 win. Tim Mozgov keeps Spencer Hawes scoreless and he had 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks in return. Sam Dalembert had 9 rebounds in 14 minutes but he still isn’t happy. The Warriors great backcourt kept them in the game as both Steph Curry and Monta Ellis had 18 points apiece.

There was a huge controversy with the Player of the Month crown as Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder. He averaged 31 points and 7 rebounds a game, in 1 game. He played the first Thunder game of the month then broke his leg but somehow he won the title. This baffles me and I’m sure it is a technical glitch and will be sorted out eventually.
The Rookie of the Month award had less outrage as Washington’s Rashid Shiran won the title for February. He averaged 14.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 blocks with the Wizards going 5-7 on that stretch.
There were a few trades last month close to the trade deadline.
Indiana trades:

PF Greg Monroe
Why for Indiana:
They are sitting 5th in the East so trading their first round pick for a 23 year old that is averaging 9.1 points and 6.4 rebounds is a no brainer. Monroe fits in with Roy Hibbert as their starting frontline.
Why for Detroit:
Monroe was the odd one out in the Pistons frontline so they wanted to get someone for him before he infects the whole team. The first rounder will help shore up their PG woes.
Winner – Indiana
The Pacers are starting to become the trade kings. First they got Al Horford for peanuts then Monroe for a pick in the 20s. Although Horford was a bust Monroe will fit right in.
Miami trades:
SG Michael Redd
Atlanta trades:
SF Josh Howard
Why for Miami:
With Lebron James starting at SG they need some depth at SF and Josh Howard fits the bill. He now slips into the 7th man position.
Why for Atlanta:
Jordan Crawford is playing out of his mind lately but isn’t quite at the stage where he is consistant enough to be the starter so they bring in Michael Redd for tutelage and a backup if Crawford goes cold.
Winner – Miami
Atlanta gets something out of this trade but Howard is a better player and will fit in with their bench.
Orlando trades:
PF Lamar Odom
Charlotte trades:
SG Stephen Jackson
Why for Orlando:
Rashard Lewis has been complaining about playing time but instead of trading him the Magic traded their best PF in Odom. Jackson gives them another legitimate scoring threat but they now have Reggie Williams playing PG which could be disastrous.
Why for Charlotte:
Jason Beck and Michael Webb are two very good prospects but need some guidance in the first few years, and this is where Lamar Odom comes in. Odom is a veteran of multiple championship teams and will give those lots of knowledge. They are losing so trading away their second best player (who is 34) is not a worry.
Winner – Both
They both get something out of this trade but we are worried about Orlando’s depth at PG now.
Utah trades:
C Al Jefferson
Detroit trades:
SF Andre Iguodala
Why for Utah:
Iguodala is a decent scorer and will take the strain off Deron Williams and will playing quality defense. They now have a HUGE line up with 6’9 Andrei Kirilenko starting at SG.
Why for Detroit:
They now have one of the best frontlines in the league with a combination of Al Jefferson, Luis Scola and injured rookie sensation Travis Randolph send shivers down the spines of the rest of the big men. Some pundits are saying that this trade was made so if Randolph becomes even more of a problem they have backup.
Winner – Detroit
Al Jefferson is a great rebounder and scorer, but a little light on defense. But at least they have backup for when Randolph gets injured again.
Golden State trades:
C Andris Biedrins
Memphis trades:
C Omer Asik
Why for Golden State:
Asik is owed half the amount that Biedrins is owed and is a decent enough player. He will be the first big off the bench.
Why for Memphis:
Gasol has been asking for a better backup and he gets it with Biedrins. He inhales rebounds but I’m not sure why a 19-38 team is taking on salary.
Winner – Golden State
It is a downgrade in talent but not that much and more contract friendly. Memphis’ side is not too clever.
Utah trades:
SG Raja Bell
2013 1st round pick (UTA)
Minnesota trades:
C Nikola Pekovic
Why for Utah/Minnesota:
A very similar deal and reasoning for the Indiana/Detroit trade, so look that up.
Winner – Utah
Pekovic is a good player and the pick will be fairly low, great steal by Utah.

Why for Golden State:
Steph Curry and Monta Ellis are great and all, but they are playing heavy minutes so getting a backup for both was needed. Stuckey fills both the PG and SG positions and will give their big 2 very welcome rest.

The pick won’t be lottery and Stuckey was a great backup like he will be in Golden State so this trade is a little of a head scratcher.
Winner – Golden State
Their bench just got good and will make them a much better team without relying on the Curry/Ellis duo playing 40+ minutes every night.

We outscore Milwaukee 37-12 in the first quarter on our way to a 111-87 blowout. Kevin King again scores over 30 with 34 points helped out by 5 of his friends in double figures. We have never found a way to stop Andrew Bogut as he has 15 points and 15 rebounds on us again.

3 games in a row for Kevin King over 30, this time 35 points in a 117-110 win over New Jersey. Rajon Rondo had 15 assists while Tim Mozgov had 16 points and 3 blocks. Al Horford had 22 points and 12 rebounds but Brook Lopez is mighty unhappy playing only 14 minutes and the drama in the offseason will be interesting.
Toronto Raptors 47-15
A 1 point win over the resurgent Indiana Pacers 104-103 comes the next night as Kevin King has a rare off night with only 13 points. Antawn Jamison (22 points, 8 rebounds) and Ed Davis (11 points in 16 minutes) pick up the slack. Newly minted Pacer Greg Monroe shoots 8/9 for 21 points while Darren Collison shoots badly but passes well with 15 assists.
Toronto Raptors 48-15
Keeping a team to 69 points is always a great feeling while we scored 99 against Charlotte. Not one Raptor stood out as we finally have a team win instead of Kevin King scoring 30+. Gerald Wallace had 10 points but no-one had more than 12 for the Bobcats.

We lose our first game in 5 tries as we go down 117-111 in Washington. Reigning Rookie of the Month Rashid Shiran had 26 points aided by Gilbert Arenas’ 26 points. On our side Shane Battier actually scores some points with 28 while Tim Mozgov had 22 points and 16 rebounds.
Toronto Raptors 49-16
Kevin King shoots 15 free throws (hitting 14) on his way to 30 points in our 95-87 win over New Orleans. Rajon Rondo again flirts with a triple double with 11 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds. He battled with Chris Paul all night, who had 15 points and 8 assists but was ultimately bested.
Toronto Raptors 50-16
This game put me in a pickle, with Rajon Rondo playing so well do we really need Chris Paul? Both players can only play PG so they can’t be on the same court on the same team and Rondo is on an extremely good contract for his play. Rajon didn’t complain when we had a terrible season in my first year, he just got through the games and is being rewarded with this team. I can’t desert him now for someone else, even if he is better. Maybe Blake Griffin will want to get some oops from Rondo. Oh yeah, 50 wins!
121-112 was the score of our next win, this time over Cleveland. Carmelo Anthony was unstoppable with 37 points but we had 7 players in double figures and 3 over 20. This is how good the Raptors can be if they all play together.
Toronto Raptors 51-16
Kevin King finds his shooting stroke with 35 points in our 116-98 win over Chicago but it was Rajon Rondo’s utter and complete demolition of Derrick Rose to the tune of 12 points, 12 assists, 8 assists and 7 steals was a great showing. Rose had a meagre 15 points and 8 assists with JR Smith having 22 points.
Toronto Raptors 52-16
We get revenge on Washington with a 108-85 win in Toronto behind Kevin King’s 38 points and 9 rebounds. Both Tim Mozgov and Rajon Rondo have double doubles as Gilbert Arenas top scores with 25 for the losers.

Another loss against a bad team, this time going down to Memphis 109-104. Marc Gasol and Tim Mozgov have a battle of the giants with Gasol coming out on top with 19 points, 20 rebounds and 8 blocks to Mozgov’s 14 points and 18 rebounds. Boleslav Silajdic had 22 points and had Rondo fouled out in 30 minutes. I’m pretty sure Silajdic plays extra hard every time he plays my team because of my comments at draft time.
Toronto Raptors 53-17
Ed Davis steps into the starting PF slot when Antawn Jamison hurt his leg and promptly snags the player of the game award with 16 points and 12 rebounds in our 101-86 win over New Orleans. Shane Battier has 20 points but needs 22 shots to get it. Chris Paul shows his class with 29 points but only has 6 assists.
Toronto Raptors 54-17
Golden State has slipped to 3rd in the West and we pile on the misery with a 121-106 win. We have a staggering 4 players in double figures – Kevin King (20 points, 9 assists), Tim Mozgov (24 points, 13 rebounds), Shane Battier (23 points) and Rajon Rondo (25 points, 11 assists). Monta Ellis has 35 points and newly acquired Omer Asik had 12 rebounds off the bench.
Toronto Raptors 55-17
The Bobcats just can’t score against us as we hold them to a 104-76 beating. Our starting five all scored over 13 points and Rajon Rondo hands out 16 assists. Sophomore Jason Beck has 18 points and 11 rebounds but also 7 turnovers for the vanquished.

Our last game for March is a huge win over one of our main rivals Miami, winning 113-106. Tim Mozgov beats up the smaller Udonis Haslem for 25 points and 12 rebounds, helped by Kevin King’s 24 points. Lebron James has 28 points helped with 24 points from Dwayne Wade. Chris Bosh was held to 15 points.

We won 8 out of the last 9 games has put us 8 games ahead of Orlando for the East lead and 10.5 games in front of third place New York. This season is ours to lose I think, but I don’t want to get too cocky.
Other than us the Lakers are the only team with 50 wins at the moment and they are leading the West by 2 games over Dallas, with Golden State 2 games behind them.

Back into the top 5 with a stellar showcase in the tournament. Still too thin for my liking but can fill it up when he wants to.

Is very consistent, which is always a good thing. Still grabbing major rebounding numbers and blocking shots like each opponent basket is an insult to him.

While Carrera is the consistent PF, Beketov is the opposite. No scouts know where he will go in the draft, 1st or 8th? Could go anywhere.

Showing that he can pass the ball without turning it over is the reason he has jumped back in the top 5. Still bulldozing over people as well.
The Rookie of the Month award had less outrage as Washington’s Rashid Shiran won the title for February. He averaged 14.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 blocks with the Wizards going 5-7 on that stretch.
There were a few trades last month close to the trade deadline.
Indiana trades:

Detroit trades:
PF Greg Monroe
Why for Indiana:
They are sitting 5th in the East so trading their first round pick for a 23 year old that is averaging 9.1 points and 6.4 rebounds is a no brainer. Monroe fits in with Roy Hibbert as their starting frontline.
Why for Detroit:
Monroe was the odd one out in the Pistons frontline so they wanted to get someone for him before he infects the whole team. The first rounder will help shore up their PG woes.
Winner – Indiana
The Pacers are starting to become the trade kings. First they got Al Horford for peanuts then Monroe for a pick in the 20s. Although Horford was a bust Monroe will fit right in.
Miami trades:
SG Michael Redd
Atlanta trades:
SF Josh Howard
Why for Miami:
With Lebron James starting at SG they need some depth at SF and Josh Howard fits the bill. He now slips into the 7th man position.
Why for Atlanta:
Jordan Crawford is playing out of his mind lately but isn’t quite at the stage where he is consistant enough to be the starter so they bring in Michael Redd for tutelage and a backup if Crawford goes cold.
Winner – Miami
Atlanta gets something out of this trade but Howard is a better player and will fit in with their bench.
Orlando trades:
PF Lamar Odom
Charlotte trades:
SG Stephen Jackson
Why for Orlando:
Rashard Lewis has been complaining about playing time but instead of trading him the Magic traded their best PF in Odom. Jackson gives them another legitimate scoring threat but they now have Reggie Williams playing PG which could be disastrous.
Why for Charlotte:
Jason Beck and Michael Webb are two very good prospects but need some guidance in the first few years, and this is where Lamar Odom comes in. Odom is a veteran of multiple championship teams and will give those lots of knowledge. They are losing so trading away their second best player (who is 34) is not a worry.
Winner – Both
They both get something out of this trade but we are worried about Orlando’s depth at PG now.
Utah trades:
C Al Jefferson
Detroit trades:
SF Andre Iguodala
Why for Utah:
Iguodala is a decent scorer and will take the strain off Deron Williams and will playing quality defense. They now have a HUGE line up with 6’9 Andrei Kirilenko starting at SG.
Why for Detroit:
They now have one of the best frontlines in the league with a combination of Al Jefferson, Luis Scola and injured rookie sensation Travis Randolph send shivers down the spines of the rest of the big men. Some pundits are saying that this trade was made so if Randolph becomes even more of a problem they have backup.
Winner – Detroit
Al Jefferson is a great rebounder and scorer, but a little light on defense. But at least they have backup for when Randolph gets injured again.
Golden State trades:
C Andris Biedrins
Memphis trades:
C Omer Asik
Why for Golden State:
Asik is owed half the amount that Biedrins is owed and is a decent enough player. He will be the first big off the bench.
Why for Memphis:
Gasol has been asking for a better backup and he gets it with Biedrins. He inhales rebounds but I’m not sure why a 19-38 team is taking on salary.
Winner – Golden State
It is a downgrade in talent but not that much and more contract friendly. Memphis’ side is not too clever.
Utah trades:
SG Raja Bell
2013 1st round pick (UTA)
Minnesota trades:
C Nikola Pekovic
Why for Utah/Minnesota:
A very similar deal and reasoning for the Indiana/Detroit trade, so look that up.
Winner – Utah
Pekovic is a good player and the pick will be fairly low, great steal by Utah.
Golden State trades:

Philadelphia trades:
PG Rodney Stuckey
Why for Golden State:
Steph Curry and Monta Ellis are great and all, but they are playing heavy minutes so getting a backup for both was needed. Stuckey fills both the PG and SG positions and will give their big 2 very welcome rest.
Why for Philadelphia:
The pick won’t be lottery and Stuckey was a great backup like he will be in Golden State so this trade is a little of a head scratcher.
Winner – Golden State
Their bench just got good and will make them a much better team without relying on the Curry/Ellis duo playing 40+ minutes every night.
Phew, lots of trades.
Al Jefferson proves his worth with his new team as the Pistons upset us in Toronto 110-105. Jefferson had 26 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks as bench PG Terrico White had 13 points and 6 assists. On our side Kevin King had 31 points and Rajon Rondo had 15 points and 13 assists but fouled out again.
Toronto Raptors 45-15
And no, that Durant Player of the Month title is standing.
We outscore Milwaukee 37-12 in the first quarter on our way to a 111-87 blowout. Kevin King again scores over 30 with 34 points helped out by 5 of his friends in double figures. We have never found a way to stop Andrew Bogut as he has 15 points and 15 rebounds on us again.
Toronto Raptors 46-15
3 games in a row for Kevin King over 30, this time 35 points in a 117-110 win over New Jersey. Rajon Rondo had 15 assists while Tim Mozgov had 16 points and 3 blocks. Al Horford had 22 points and 12 rebounds but Brook Lopez is mighty unhappy playing only 14 minutes and the drama in the offseason will be interesting.
Toronto Raptors 47-15
A 1 point win over the resurgent Indiana Pacers 104-103 comes the next night as Kevin King has a rare off night with only 13 points. Antawn Jamison (22 points, 8 rebounds) and Ed Davis (11 points in 16 minutes) pick up the slack. Newly minted Pacer Greg Monroe shoots 8/9 for 21 points while Darren Collison shoots badly but passes well with 15 assists.
Toronto Raptors 48-15
Keeping a team to 69 points is always a great feeling while we scored 99 against Charlotte. Not one Raptor stood out as we finally have a team win instead of Kevin King scoring 30+. Gerald Wallace had 10 points but no-one had more than 12 for the Bobcats.

We lose our first game in 5 tries as we go down 117-111 in Washington. Reigning Rookie of the Month Rashid Shiran had 26 points aided by Gilbert Arenas’ 26 points. On our side Shane Battier actually scores some points with 28 while Tim Mozgov had 22 points and 16 rebounds.
Toronto Raptors 49-16
Kevin King shoots 15 free throws (hitting 14) on his way to 30 points in our 95-87 win over New Orleans. Rajon Rondo again flirts with a triple double with 11 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds. He battled with Chris Paul all night, who had 15 points and 8 assists but was ultimately bested.
Toronto Raptors 50-16
This game put me in a pickle, with Rajon Rondo playing so well do we really need Chris Paul? Both players can only play PG so they can’t be on the same court on the same team and Rondo is on an extremely good contract for his play. Rajon didn’t complain when we had a terrible season in my first year, he just got through the games and is being rewarded with this team. I can’t desert him now for someone else, even if he is better. Maybe Blake Griffin will want to get some oops from Rondo. Oh yeah, 50 wins!
121-112 was the score of our next win, this time over Cleveland. Carmelo Anthony was unstoppable with 37 points but we had 7 players in double figures and 3 over 20. This is how good the Raptors can be if they all play together.
Toronto Raptors 51-16
Kevin King finds his shooting stroke with 35 points in our 116-98 win over Chicago but it was Rajon Rondo’s utter and complete demolition of Derrick Rose to the tune of 12 points, 12 assists, 8 assists and 7 steals was a great showing. Rose had a meagre 15 points and 8 assists with JR Smith having 22 points.
Toronto Raptors 52-16
We get revenge on Washington with a 108-85 win in Toronto behind Kevin King’s 38 points and 9 rebounds. Both Tim Mozgov and Rajon Rondo have double doubles as Gilbert Arenas top scores with 25 for the losers.
Toronto Raptors 53-16
Another loss against a bad team, this time going down to Memphis 109-104. Marc Gasol and Tim Mozgov have a battle of the giants with Gasol coming out on top with 19 points, 20 rebounds and 8 blocks to Mozgov’s 14 points and 18 rebounds. Boleslav Silajdic had 22 points and had Rondo fouled out in 30 minutes. I’m pretty sure Silajdic plays extra hard every time he plays my team because of my comments at draft time.
Toronto Raptors 53-17
Ed Davis steps into the starting PF slot when Antawn Jamison hurt his leg and promptly snags the player of the game award with 16 points and 12 rebounds in our 101-86 win over New Orleans. Shane Battier has 20 points but needs 22 shots to get it. Chris Paul shows his class with 29 points but only has 6 assists.
Toronto Raptors 54-17
Golden State has slipped to 3rd in the West and we pile on the misery with a 121-106 win. We have a staggering 4 players in double figures – Kevin King (20 points, 9 assists), Tim Mozgov (24 points, 13 rebounds), Shane Battier (23 points) and Rajon Rondo (25 points, 11 assists). Monta Ellis has 35 points and newly acquired Omer Asik had 12 rebounds off the bench.
Toronto Raptors 55-17
The Bobcats just can’t score against us as we hold them to a 104-76 beating. Our starting five all scored over 13 points and Rajon Rondo hands out 16 assists. Sophomore Jason Beck has 18 points and 11 rebounds but also 7 turnovers for the vanquished.

Our last game for March is a huge win over one of our main rivals Miami, winning 113-106. Tim Mozgov beats up the smaller Udonis Haslem for 25 points and 12 rebounds, helped by Kevin King’s 24 points. Lebron James has 28 points helped with 24 points from Dwayne Wade. Chris Bosh was held to 15 points.

We won 8 out of the last 9 games has put us 8 games ahead of Orlando for the East lead and 10.5 games in front of third place New York. This season is ours to lose I think, but I don’t want to get too cocky.

Back into the top 5 with a stellar showcase in the tournament. Still too thin for my liking but can fill it up when he wants to.
3 (4) – PF Claudio Carrera (Brazil) 21 years old
Is very consistent, which is always a good thing. Still grabbing major rebounding numbers and blocking shots like each opponent basket is an insult to him.
4 (1) – PF Boroda Beketov (Russia) 19 years old
While Carrera is the consistent PF, Beketov is the opposite. No scouts know where he will go in the draft, 1st or 8th? Could go anywhere.
5 (NR) – SF Tim Murphy (Wake Forest) Freshman
Showing that he can pass the ball without turning it over is the reason he has jumped back in the top 5. Still bulldozing over people as well.

Lebron James of the Miami Heat won the March Player of the Month title with averages of 28.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 2.2 steals and 0.8 blocks while the Heat went 11-5 in the month.
Washington Wizard Rashid Shiran won the Rookie of the Month crown again, averaging 15.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 blocks with the Wizards going 5-12 over that stretch.
I really like Shiran, he is almost the opposite of Travis Randolph as he is very durable, has a huge work ethic and people can actually stand to be around him. Sure he will never be as good as Randolph but Shiran could be an all-star for years to come.
Our last 8 games of the season begins with a 97-81 loss to Portland has Chris Kaman up on a rebounding clinic, hauling down 29 rebounds to go with his 14 points. That is the highest board total for the whole league since I have been employed. LaMarcus Aldridge had 25 points and 11 rebounds while our only resistance was Kevin King who had 30 points on 27 shots.

The match up of the series. Rose needs to carry this team because if he doesn’t Rondo will bury him. Rajon Rondo has a 6.9 assists to turnover ratio which is mind blowing.

JR Smith vs. DeMar DeRozan
12.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists vs. 9.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 0.9 assists
Shane Battier has a sore back so will probably miss the first two games, but DeRozan can fill it up when he needs to. JR Smith has been disappointing but can score quickly when needed.

Another match up that Chicago has the advantage. Boozer is a great post scorer and will trytotear Jamison apart. Toronto has been known to play Mozgov and Dalembert together which will put strain on Boozer.

Joakim Noah vs. Tim Mozgov
12.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists vs. 14.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists
Noah is a good centre, but Mozgov has been a revelation for the Raptors. He can rebound and block shots as well as put balls in the basket.

We smash them again 115-97 as Rajon Rondo finally has his triple double with 19 points, 19 assists and 10 rebounds as he had a huge smile on his face all through the last quarter. Kevin King scores 30 points and Tim Mozgov has 25 points and 13 rebounds. Joakim Noah tries to stop him with 18 rebounds and 4 blocks while Derrick Rose has 20 points and 11 assists but 6 turnovers.

Going back to Toronto we didn’t want to leave without the win and we beat them easy again 118-96 behind Kevin King’s 33 points and Rajon Rondo’s 24 points and 14 assists. Antawn Jamison peeps for 15 points while Ed Davis has 12 points off the bench. Joakim Noah was the best with 15 points and 15 rebounds but were out of it early.

Going through with us were #3 Utah who won 4-1 over #6 Denver.
The next day #4 Indiana wins their series 4-2 over #5 Miami which shows how much the Heat have fallen. But the big news was #8 Oklahoma City beating #1 Lakers 4-2 as Kevin Durant averaged 30.5 points for the series. So that means 4 series are going the distance.
All of the higher seeds but one won their game 7 as #2 Orlando shoots 61% to beat #7 Milwaukee, #3 New York breathes a sigh of relief by beating cross town rivals #6 New Jersey. And in the West #2 Dallas holds off #7 New Orleans and the upset was #5 Portland beating #4 Golden State. Can Portland make a run like last year?

2013 Eastern Conference Semi-Final Indiana vs. Toronto
Point Guard
AJ Price vs. Rajon Rondo
8.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists vs. 13.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 13.8 assists
Darren Collison is the usual Pacer starting PG but he has broken his foot so rarely used Price gets the nod. However, he is going up against a guy who is averaging nearly 14 assists per playoff game and a 9.9 a/t ratio. So yeah, good luck AJ.

15.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists vs. 10.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists
Gordon has brought a new scorer to the Pacer line up but is only 6’3 and Shane Battier is 6’8 and a ferocious defender. Look for Gordon to struggle.

Danny Granger vs. Kevin King
27.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists vs. 26.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.8 assists
A huge matchup for Indiana, because if King has a series like the previous one then it’s lights out. Granger is a decent defender and can stay with King, and on the other end Granger needs to fill it up every night.

Greg Monroe vs. Antawn Jamison
8.8 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists vs. 11.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists
Monroe was a recent addition and is showing how good he is, averaging 1.7 steals and blocks for the playoffs. Jamison can stretch the floor but will have his hands full with his younger opponent.

14.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists vs. 18.8 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists
Now that Al Horford is gone, Roy Hibbert is a very happy player. However, he is going up against the Russian that no one wants to see. Mozgov had the better of Joakim Noah and will most likely have his way with Hibbert.

Michael Sims, Brandon Rush, Stephen Burrough vs. Sam Dalembert, Ed Davis, DeMar DeRozan
Sims is a great young player and was starting for most of the season until he got injured but is healthy now and wants to show his skill. Rush and Burrough aren’t anything special while the Raptor bench is tough.

The matchup of the series was a fizzer with Kevin King going 3/15 for 11 points while Danny Granger was 3/15 for 10 points and 7 turnovers.

Roy Hibbert only had 8 points but grabbed 17 rebounds. Danny Granger held Kevin King to 4/16 shooting and score 20 points himself but it wasn’t enough.

Antawn Jamison was the only other Raptor who scored in double figures with 11 which shows how bad it was for us. In the four games against us Roy Hibbert is averaging 17 rebounds a game.

Going back to Toronto is always a good feeling as we pummel the Pacers 103-74 as they shot a paltry 33%. We had 6 players in double figures with Ed Davis starring off the bench with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks in 22 minutes. We outrebounded them 53-34 as their only opposition was Eric Gordon with 27 points.

#5 Portland beats the cinderellas #8 Oklahoma City 4-1.
It must feel the same way when the Pacers go back to their court as they stomped us back 108-75 as we shot 34%. Yuck. Danny Granger has 32 points and I really hope Canada is ready to cheer us to a win.

Eric Gordon scores 27 points and Danny Granger had 20 points but they couldn’t keep up with our hot shooting.

It’s a rematch of last year as Orlando kills off New York, winning 110-91. I said that if we were going to win it all we had to go through Orlando and this is our chance.
