6th seed Mississippi (16-13) vs 3rd seed Stanford (16-12)—[The first half was tight, but Stanford came away with a 37-33 lead at the break. The Cardinal gradually expanded their lead in the 2nd half by holding Mississippi to 35% shooting. Mike Whitehead scored 18 points and Harris McIntosh pulled down 11 rebounds for Stanford. Joe Duhon dropped in 19 points and Aaron Maloney grabbed 10 rebounds for Mississippi. Final Score: Stanford-77, Mississippi-63.]

3rd seed Stanford (17-12) vs 7th seed Iona (18-11)—[Stanford struggled in the first half and trailed 31-17 at the break. Iona continued to pull away from the Cardinal in the 2nd half. Stanford hit just 31% of their shots. Chris Akins scored 20 points for Iona. Harris Mcintosh led Stanford with 13 points. Final Score: Iona-65, Stanford-41.]

Delaware (21-9) vs USC (16-14)—[USC controlled the game in the 1st half and pulled away for a 36-21 halftime lead. Delaware trimmed the Trojans’ lead in the 2nd half but couldn’t overtake them. Ty Ford and Lamond Leslie both scored 12 points for USC while Blake O’Bannon scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Trojans. Donnie Durden scored 25 points for Delaware. Final Score: USC-70, Delaware-63.]

12th seed USC (17-14) vs 5th seed Notre Dame (18-11)—[Notre Dame broke out on top and applied a staunch defense that stymied USC. USC trailed at the half 38-27. The Fighting Irish stretched their lead in the 2nd half by hitting 51% of their shots and dominating the boards 42-17. Eric Rivera scored 31 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Notre Dame. Johnny Stuart was high point man for USC with 15 points. Final Score: Notre Dame-79, USC-53.]

11th seed California (18-12) vs 6th seed #21 Oklahoma State (20-11)—[The first half was close all the way with California coming out on top 49-48. California’s offense remained hot (59% shooting) in the 2nd half and they gradually pulled away to upset Oklahoma State. Brent Phillips topped California’s scoring with 21 points. Damon Davis hit 13 of 16 from the field (including 12 of 13 from beyond the arc) and scored 38 points for Oklahoma State. Final Score: California-96, Oklahama State-87.]

15th seed Kent State (16-16) vs 2nd seed #9 Oregon (24-6)—[After a slow start, Oregon harassed Kent State forcing repeated turnovers and took a 44-30 lead to the locker room. Oregon’s defense didn’t allow Kent State to close the gap in the 2nd half. Aaron Swan scored 22 points and Kedric Willis scored 11 points and hauled in 10 rebounds for Oregon. Josh Seabrooks was Kent State’s leading scorer with 15 points. Final Score: Oregon-74, Kent State-56.]

10th seed UCLA (18-12) vs 7th seed LSU (20-11)—[UCLA kept LSU from breaking out in the first half and took a 37-25 lead at the break. LSU was able to close the gap but never could get a lead in the 2nd half. Clifton Worrell scored 17 points for UCLA. David Kitt scored 15 points and Brandon McIntosh grabbed 11 boards for LSU. Final Score: UCLA-72, LSU-65.]

14th seed New Hampshire (20-10) vs 3rd seed #25 Ohio State (21-10)—[New Hampshire built a 13 point lead in the first half and finished the first stanza with a 37-32 lead. But Ohio State out-muscled the Black Bears in the 2nd half and pulled away to win by hitting 57% of their shots. Derek Murray dropped in 17 points for Ohio State. DeVante Smith led New Hampshire’s scoring with 20 points. Final Score: Ohio State-84, New Hampshire-77.]

Ohio State’s offense was on fire in the 2nd half, as the Buckeyes hit 56% of their shots. Ohio State also dominated the boards 30-18. Sam Sutton put in 19 points for Ohio State. Brent Phillips, Perry Sullivan, and Joe Evans each scored 11 points for California. Final Score: Ohio State-83, California-65.]

Oregon held Duke’s shooting to 41% and dominated the boards 36-27. Aaron Swan had high-point honors for Oregon with 14 points and Dale Murphy added 12 points and 10 rebounds. 2nd seed #9 Oregon (29-6) vs 2nd seed #2 Florida (35-3)—[Florida flattened Oregon in the first half and led 43-22 at the end of the half. Oregon made a good run to get back into the game in the 2nd half, but could never get a lead. Danny Jackson scored 21 points and Sam Harris added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Florida. Steve Simpson led Oregon with 17 points. Final Score: Florida-67, Oregon-61.]

Great run by Oregon…winning easily in every game up to the Championship, but Florida was just a little better.
