3/16: 84-76. We were awful. 11 lead changes, 8 ties, and we didn’t put them away until the last few minutes. Up 5 at the half.
22, 3 for Arms, 18, 2, 3, 5 for Barr, 15, 7 for Long. They actually out rebounded us. +36 in the paint saved us.
Not a good way to start and I let the players know I’m not happy.
#8 seed Tennessee, 23-10, in the 2nd round.
They’re very good PG is playing sick, flu or something. 3-3 vs. the top 25. They’re good inside and out. If we’re not sharp we could be in trouble.
3/18: 88-72. We started slow yet again. They led by 8 and we got it to 4 at halftime. We were much better in the 2nd. 28, 4 for Arms, who we’re REALLY going to miss, 21, 6, 2, 4 for Barr, 14, 6 for Dark, who’s back at 100%. +30 in the paint.

“Yes, but both of those teams were over matched and frankly, we weren’t sharp in either game.”

#4 seed, #17 ranked Florida ST, 25-10, in the Sweet Sixteen. We beat them by 23 in December at home. They’ve been playing really well lately. We’d better be at our best.
3/23: “Okay guys. Let’s get out of the gate strong and keep the intensity up!”
99-90 in a real shootout. Not happy with the D but the O pulled us through. 53-39 at halftime. We played well in the 1st half for once. But we didn’t play D in the 2nd, giving up 51. Fortunately, we were hitting shots. We shot 51.6% to their 47.6%. The refs were horrible, 55 fouls called. They didn’t make their foul shots, 24-44, while we did, 35-47, and that was a huge factor. Their coach must be pulling out his hair. 23 for Art Daws from the bench, 17, 14 for Long, 13, 5, 3 steals for Arms. Our bench scored 39, +6 over theirs. +11 RBs, +14 in the paint. But the difference was at the line.

#3 ranked, #1 seed Seton Hall, 31-7, in the national semifinal. We beat them by 11, 10, and then 8 in the Big East title game. It’s really hard to keep beating a very good team.

Preseason #1.
We exceed our Expected to Spend number.
The flu has run its course. A few babies were pretty seriously ill but everyone is better now. The kids are almost 5 months old.
5/29: Guard Don Flin, who might have started, transfers out. We’ll look for the best player we can get, regardless of position.
We offer to a PG.
6/2: No. We offer to the same guy, who now has us in his top 5.
6/5: We get the PG. He could be our #3 guard.
6/25: We’ll go to Indy and to all of the regional camps.
6/26: 5 scholarships. We want 3 guards.
Another extreme cyclone hits. The shack the terraforming robots are using is so well fortified that it survives, but there is some lost equipment.
Babies are developing personalities, which, much to my surprise, I find quite interesting.
7/11: Recruiting is going well.
7/31: We offer to a PG, an SG, a SFs, and a PF.
8/7: 5 on the Norton list: PG Leon Hess is #3, C Bri Thun is #9, PG Rip Will is #37, PG Ray Barr is #41, C Ike Long is #44.
The kids are growing. A couple have started to crawl.
9/11: We get 2, lose 2. We get a PF, #31, and an SF, #43.
9/18: We get the #1 recruit in the country, a PG! We also get an SF, #42. We NEED another guard.
Going to the Paradise International. Very competitive schedule.
9/25: We get an SG, #26. Recruiting is done. I should have tried harder for a third guard instead of 3 bigs but we’ll be fine.
10/2: 1st day of practice. We have about 7 or 8 guys who should start.
11/6: Final rankings for our committed recruits: #1, 26, 29, 39, 42.
11/15: We start tomorrow at my old school, #15 NC ST. On paper it’s anybody’s game.

1/18: 95-79 over Villanova here. 53-34 at the break. 26, 10 for Thun, 23, 10, 3, 2, 3 blocks for Mack, 18, 7 for Long. +36 in the paint.

1/21: 94-90 at Georgetown. Terrible D but our scoring power saved us. Close all the way. Up 5 at halftime. We were awful from the line, 20-40, which made the game closer than it should have been.
But we sank 4-4 in the last 30 seconds to hang onto the lead.
25, 8 for Mack, 24, 6, 3 blocks for Thun, 13, 7 for Long, 13, 3 steals for Barr. +22 in the paint. We need to play better defensively.
1/25: 86-72 at Marquette. Up 11 at the half. They never got closer than 7 in the 2nd half. 27, 11, 4, 3 blocks for Thun, 17, 4, 3 for Barr, 13, 6 for Mack. +20 RBs, +22 on 2nd chances.
1/28: 82-55 over Butler here. Up 10 at the half and we took total charge early in the 2nd half. 22, 6 for Thun, 15, 6 for Long, 12, 2, 6, 4 for Will. +40 in the lane, +15 on 2nd chances, +14 RBs.
1/29: All of our recruits hit our SAT score.
Bri Thun is #3 on the Norton list and Ike Long is #23.
