Every recruit is being pursued to some degree. We're watching film on them, going to their games and talking to them to figure out what they and their parents value.
Haston and Hedrick have Alaska Anchorage as their number one schools! Haston has "warm" interest while Swift, Dickerson and Hedrick are on "cool" interest. Tarkanian, Fleming and Croom are on "none". Expected that for Tarkanian, and the other two are the recruits I'm least interested in, so that is fine with me.
Everybody was hosted for a campus visit, as Dickerson, Swift, Hedrick and Haston enjoyed their visits, but Tarkanian, Croom and Fleming didn't really seem to.
The scholarship offers have gone out to Tarkananian, Swift, Dickerson and Haston. Maybe we can change Tarkanian's mind.

Anchorage, Alaska (AP) - It was a great day for the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves basketball program, as head coach Carlos Boozer announced that three recruits had committed to play at UAA. C Austin Swift, PG Landon Dickerson and PF Shane Haston all will be lining up in green and gold at the Alaska Airlines Center next winter.
Swift is the headliner of the class, as the 6'10 two star center is the 427th ranked prospect in the nation, and the 67th best center. Starring at Sitka High School in Sitka, Alaska, Swift averaged 13.5 points, 1.9 assists, 6.6 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.3 steals per game for the Wolves. Swift projects as a two-way player as both a prolific insider who's not afraid to put the ball on the floor and try and get to the basket and is a solid defender in the paint.
Swift grades out as: B- overall, B- defense, C athleticism, A+ inside shooting, C- outside shooting, F free throws, B- scoring, C passing, D ball handling, C+ rebounding, C+ shot blocking, D+ stealing.
Brandon Dickerson is set to be the heir apparent to Eric Edwards/Inyo Ryan at point guard. Standing at 6'0, lbs. Dickerson is a one star recruit ranked 1104th nationally out of Palmer, Alaska, having averaged 15.9 points, 3.6 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 0.0 blocks and 1.2 steals per game for Colony High School, the rival high school to Palmer High School, who he faced with Inyo Ryan and Shannon Fuhs being on the other side.
Dickerson is a jump shot shooter who stays on the outside and is great at knocking down threes while also handling the ball and being able to play okay defense despite his short stature.
Dickerson grades out as: B- overall, C+ defense, C+ athleticism, D+ inside shooting, A outside shooting, C- free throws, B+ scoring, C+ passing, B+ ball handling, D+ rebounding, F shot blocking, D+ stealing.
Haston, who had a long-time interest in the Seawolves program, rounds out a great recruiting class for UAA. The 6'7 power forward out of Lathrop high school in Fairbanks Alaska (same HS as Travis Stokes) averaged 12.5 points 1.7 assists, 6.6 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.4 steals per game. Haston is primarily a post player who loves to try to take the ball to the basket but also looks comfortable stepping out and shooting threes
Haston grades out as: C+ overall, D- defense, BI athleticism, A inside shooting, D outside shooting, D- free throws, C- scoring, C+ passing, C ball handling, C- rebounding, C- shot blocking, D+ stealing.
The Seawolves have one scholarship left, primarily chasing 6'10, 259 lb. C Donnie Hedrick of Juneau-Douglas High School in Juneau, Alaska, alma mater of point guard Eric Edwards and head coach Carlos Boozer. Hedrick is a one star recruit, the 1540th ranked recruit nationally, and is a strong inside shooter who loves to try and take the ball to the basket.
Other top uncommitted recruits in the state of Alaska are 6'7 220 lb. SF Dan Tarkanian (ranked 338th nationally), 6'1 171 lb. SG Michael Fleming (#1431) and 5'5 160 lbs. PG James Croom (#1602), though none feel likely to be Seawolves.
Haston may redshirt next year due to how many players that could play at PF, and Hedrick definitely would. Want to make that something we start doing going forward as this program will really need to have older teams due to the way recruiting is. The only time that has happened was the first year when Stokes was a freshman, letting him have two years of starting/playing left now.
