How long have you owned/played the Steam version of the game? If less than two weeks and under two hours of play time, you can request a refund from Steam. Sometimes they will even grant it a little bit longer if something really broken and you haven't taking advantage of refunds too much.

I bought it this weekend and have played for about 6 hours. Spent a lot time trying to get it to work.

Alright, that changed a lot. The demo works perfect, no font issues.
