Erik Dampier signed to a veterans minimum

Postby brutusbrutus » Wed Jun 08, 2011 8:02 pm

Dampier will serve as a mentor to Pekovic and Asik, two young centers who still have a lot to learn, no one expects Dampier to play more than 5 minutes a night.

Trade!

Postby brutusbrutus » Wed Jun 08, 2011 8:08 pm

Sacramento Gets
Justin Henderson(Good rebounding ROTY)
Jon Cook(Promising PG)

Minnesota Gets
Carl Landry
2013 1st round pick from Sacramento

Winner: Sacramento got a lot of talent but Minnesota got future talent and a suitable PF for this year. It is really a win-win situation, with the edge going to Minnesota.

Rummor has it that...

Ricky Rubio will come to America next season. Look for the Timberwolves to package him in a trade.

Minnesota signs Marco Belinelli

Postby brutusbrutus » Wed Jun 08, 2011 8:17 pm

Belinelli was once a more than capable guard but he has been fighting injuries in the last few seasons. Don't look for Belinelli to get much playing time behind Morrow and McDermott.

Presenting the 2012-1013 Minnesota Timberwolves

Postby brutusbrutus » Wed Jun 08, 2011 8:53 pm

PG
Travis Tennell: A developing PG about three years from his prime. Tennell is an excellent passer, with good shooting. Tennell is an average defender with little room for improvement. His per 36 numbers are as follows.

PPG 16.25
APG 7.5
RPG 2.4
TS% .577

SG

David McDermott: McDermott showed that during the summer league he was a force to be reckoned with. Right now he draws fouls well and shoots jumpers well, this season the team will focus on improving his range out the the three point line. McDermott is not talented defensively and lacks athletic ability this is his one draw back. The best thing about McDermott is that he is only 20 years old and around 5-6 years away from his prime.

SF

Shang-de Toeh: Toeh is the type of player that effects the game positively without filling out a box score very well. He always gives 100% on defense and is improving in every aspect imaginable. Toeh has around 4-5 years before he reaches his prime. He must work on getting to the line more often as he shoots free throws well.

Per 36 numbers
PPG: 11.6
APG: 2.5
RPG: 5.1
TS% .491

PF

Carl Landry: Landry is a veteran with a long contract. He gets to the line at a good clip putting other teams in foul trouble early. Landry also shoots well from the line an has a fairly good FG% as well, although last year he was less efficient than usual. Landry is an average defender, but he doesn't rebound very well for his position.

Per 36 numbers
PPG: 14.4
APG: 2.0
RPG: 6.72
TS%: .530

C

Nikola Pekovic

Pekovic is putting up good numbers at the Center position, his endurance has gotten better over the years, his is still foul prone however. His contract is expiring and he will be playing for a big pay check this year. He is a good rebounder who is a little above average on defense. He needs to work on getting to the line more often.

PPG: 16.7
RPG: 9.6
APG: 1.5
TS%: .580

6th and 7th Men

Omir Asik: Asik hasn't gotten much of a chance at a lot of minutes, but he will get 20+ minutes a night with Minnesota. Asik is a true 7 foot tall player with the ability to play both PF and C. Asik is an awful free throw shooter. He is a good defender but doesn't block many shots. Asik provides rebounding off the bench, something the Wolves desperately need.

Per 36 numbers

PPG: 16.4
RPG: 10.1
APG: 1.9
TS%: .525

Anthony Morrow: Morrow is one of the most efficient scorers in the league. He is an expert at exploiting match ups and being a spark off the bench. He isn't always consistent, his shot selection is impeccable to a fault. Morrow is below average defensively and doesn't force very many steals.

Per36(with wolves)
PPG: 21.8
RPG: 2.8
APG: 2.58
TS%: .633

The rest of the bench:

Luke Ridnour, Rasual Butler, and Craig Smith make up the rest of the bench that will likely play more than 5 minutes per night.

December 2012

Postby brutusbrutus » Wed Jun 08, 2011 9:13 pm

The Wolves continued performing around .500 basketball, ending the month with a record of 15-16.

Anthony Morrow has really stepped up his gambling on defense and is scoring a career best 1.7 steals per game. Carl Landry is still the lead scorer with 16.4 PPG.

The Timberwolves are known as a team with multiple threats to score, but not one individual that is the go-to-guy.
