NBA Evaluation

Postby PointGuard » Wed Feb 27, 2013 4:38 pm

Early March: The latest word is that Greg BIvins stock is rising in the NBA. He’s now ranked in the top 40% of possible draftees. Probably still too low to get drafted but getting closer to being possibly picked up as a free agent.

[I]Play-in Game[I]: CSU Bakersfield vs Harvard

I was pretty sure the best we could do was a #16 seed. Well, we didn’t even get that. But getting a play-in game means we get a chance to win one more game before going up against a #1 seed (in this case either Georgia Tech or Illinois). Yikes!

Nit

Postby PointGuard » Wed Feb 27, 2013 9:15 pm

New Jersey Tech was selected as the 6th seed in the South Region of the NIT. They had such a great season that I’m very happy to see them get this deserving selection. I called their coach to congratulate him and his team and wish them good luck.

Round 1:

New Jersey Tech-79, Pennsylvania-73—This was a close game most of the way. New Jersey Tech escaped with a 40-38 lead at the half. The two teams fought it out in the second half and again New Jersey Tech held on to win. The Highlanders hit 57% of the FG attempts and 65% (13 of 20) of their threes. They needed that since the Quakers had a 30-25 rebounding advantage and a slight edge in turnovers (15 to 14). Pennsylvania also outscored the Highlanders on points in the paint, second chance points, and fast break points. Andy Boardman was sensational for New Jersey Tech, hitting 12 of 16 FG’s, 4 of 6 threes and finished with 29 points. John Sullivan had a double-double (13 points and 10 assists) for the Highlanders. Jaymes Sims scored 22 for Pennsylvania.

Round 2

Arizona State-69, New Jersey Tech-55—The lead was exchanged 6 times in the first half, but Arizona State left the court ahead 30-26. They gradually pulled away in the 2nd half. New Jersey Tech made 21 turnovers while Georgia Tech made only 11. Georgia Tech also outshot the Highlanders 44% to 36%. Michel Johnson scored 18 points for Arizona State and Steve Bryant led New Jersey Tech’s scoring with 15 points.

Championship Game

Xavier-77, Fresno State-64.
