Mar 31: Fresno St. wins the NIT. Longwood wins the CIT. The CBI went bankrupt and didn't hold a tournament this year.

Apr 2: It'll be UCLA and Kansas for the national championship.

Apr 4: Kansas wins the national championship over the Bruins 78-71

Apr 5: Awards are announced. Rod Jones of High Point wins conference player of the year for 2nd season in a row. God help us he still has a year left.

Josh O'Connor wins freshman of the year.. Godzilla's strong finish landing him enough votes to edge out Lyles.

Rob Woods named 1st team all-conference again along with Jones, the over-rated Augustine of Campbell, Crider of Presbyterian, and Ramage of VMI. Jones is the only non-senior on the first team.

Godzilla is named to 2nd team all-conference.

Apr 9:

We announce the verbal commitment of

6'0 JUCO transfer Point Guard Chris Battle out of Bloomington, IL Battle was ranked 116th overall by the scouting service and has the ball-handling and passing skills we need and was our top choice after Michael Moore failed to meet university standards.

I'm a bit concerned about bringing in 3 JUCO kids next season, but we needed some guys that might be ready to play at DI level with the loss of Woods, Myers, Henry, and Porter.

That officially ends our recruiting for this season.

Apr 10: I'm a bit taken aback by all the national mentions of my name as being considered for the head coaching job at several BCS schools. Mississippi St. actually calls our AD asking for permission to speak with me. I wasn't expecting this at all. I tell them I need time to think before agreeing to interview. I have a long talk with Kevin. In the end, even though I know I may be making a mistake, I decide to stay in Boiling Springs at least one more year. I know fully well, the job offers may not be there next year this time, but my gut tells me my job here isn't yet finished. I call back the AD at Mississippi St. and politely decline the interview.

Apr 16: We recieve Chris Battle's signed LOI making it official.

Kevin has been offered a head coaching job at a top DIII school, but in the end agrees to stay on with me for a couple more years.

Apr 23: I meet with our AD, and say "Look. I've given you what you hired me to do so far and then some. I also turned down a big career move to stay here at least another year. Tell the fat cats on the board to give us some money for recruiting next season. We earned the university some money by getting a game in the NCAA tourney... tell them to invest it back into the damn program!"

APR 27: The request is denied again. If a job offer comes along next year, I'll be out of here. The university clearly has no desire to back this program.
