NCAA Selection Show

Postby PointGuard » Sat Jun 29, 2013 2:34 pm

Seattle gets a play-in game against Seton Hall for a 12th seed.

We are the #7 seed in the New Orleans Region and will play Notre Dame. The talking heads are picking #10 seed Notre Dame to upset us.

And I thought Air Force getting a number 4 seed was pretty out there! I'm not sure that Chicago State has even ever won a single game against another DI opponent from the state of Illinois.

NIT Round 1

Postby PointGuard » Mon Jul 01, 2013 2:25 am

#5 seed Western Michigan Broncos (16-14) vs #4 seed Chicago State Cougars (19-11)—Western Michigan jumped out on top and built a 12 point lead midway through the first half. At the half, Western Michigan was on top 39-31. In the second half, Chicago State kept chipping away at Western Michigan’s lead, but couldn’t get the lead until just before the end of the game. The lead see-sawed a few times, but Chicago State scored last and came away with an exciting 67-65 victory. Western Michigan shot themselves out of the NIT by tossing up 36 three-point attempts and hitting just 7 (19%). The rest of the team statistics were fairly even, but Chicago State simply played a more controlled game. Roland Dorsett came off the bench to score 13 points for Chicago State. For Western Michigan, their leading scorer was Toby Bailey who also scored 13 points. Bailey pulled down 11 rebounds also to record a double-double in a losing effort.
