Looks like Gonzaga zigged when they should have zagged.

Nice win, coach!

Thank you. I'm hoping this team is poised to make a deep run in my first season. If not, I think we'll be even better next year. A 13 game winning streak to end the regular season has me pumped at any rate.

Feb 20: We may not be in Kansas any more, or even Boiling Springs, but one thing still remains constant.... The conference tourney will be held at a non-neutral site... Jerry Tarkanian court at the Thomas & Mack center in Las Vegas. The Rebels are good enough to create havoc. How hard can it be for a good conference to find a truly neutral site for it's tournament? The conference is under contract to hold the tourney there next season as well.

It's called "money talks".

Feb 21: Injo Jackson and Stetson got into it a bit in practice today. It was nothing more than 2 very competitive players going at it. Not concerned about it at all.

Yeah, and it hurts that the Mountain West doesn't have a true conference geographic center where basketball is played. :( Still, the Mountain West is the 2nd or 3rd best Mid Major conference in the country....they don't have a television contract that would demand a neutral court?

Feb 26: After the beat down of Gonzaga we are up to #17 in the AP, #15 in the USA today/CNN coach's poll and #10 in the RPI. Unfortunately we are still being projected as a 4 or 5 seed. We need to make a statement in the conference tournament. Air Force is now being projected as an at large selection after their bracket buster win over Santa Clara if they don't choke in the conference tourney.

Not sure what's planned for 2014, but in 2013, the Mountain West, WAC, West Coast Conf, and Pac-12 all played their conf tournies in Las Vegas.

Here's an excerpt from a local SF Bay area newspaper:

For Scott (Pac-12 commissioner), Las Vegas fulfilled his top priority: "We ultimately decided to pick the city that created the most excitement."

No doubt, said Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson. "You come to watch your team win and if they lose, 30 seconds later you shrug your shoulders and go on to something else," he said.

Mar 5: another week of sitting around and driving each other crazy in practice. We need to play. After a week off we now are at #15 in the AP, #14 in the coach's poll and still at 10 in the RPI. We are STILL being projected as a 4 or 5 seed though. The waiting around is getting to us. With an 8 team conference the Mountain West maybe needs to spread out the conference schedule a bit more. Finishing the conference season before Bracket Buster Sunday was a bit crazy.

OOC. i was actually going off of the 2013 and 2014 venues for the Mountain West. Of those 3 conferences though, only the Mountain West is playing at the biggest venue in Vegas on the home court of one of it's constituents! :S Of course the West Coast Conferfence geographical center would be somewhere in Ohio! lol I'm glad that ridiculous conference will be no more next season. I still am not sure how the WAC invited Chicago St. to join them next year when they don't even have a football program. For the WAC, Las Vegas actually WOULD be close to the conference center. But why on earth would the Pac 12 play there? There are a billion large venues in California that would be much more centrally located. That one makes no sense to me economically.
