I can't, he is too good for the assets I have at the moment. Maybe when our cut salary is removed and he is a free agent I'll make a run for him.

It’s time to renounce so free agents and there isn’t anyone I want to keep, so say goodbye to Westbrook, Wall, Freeman, Jameson, Anderson and Baker. There is a guy in the scouting department that has the biggest crush on New York’s Terry McKenzie and keeps badgering me to trade for him. I know that he is way out of our price range but to show that I listen to my employees I call up New York.

“Hello Yaxley, what can I do for you?” Answered GM Grant Hill.

“Hey Grant, just putting feelers out on some trade prospects, nothing serious.”

“OK, what do you have in mind?”

“I’m interested in Terry McKenzie, is he available?” I question with a little hesitation in my voice.

“Honestly, no. He is a franchise player in the making and we want to keep him in the Big Apple for as long as possible.” Fair enough, but I push a little.

“He seems a great talent but we have some great young guys here, how about Julius Hobbs, Kelly Pryor, Curtis Anderson and our first round pick for Terry?”

“Look Yaxley, I like you. I love what you have done in Dallas even with all the controversy but the only player I’m interested in trading Terry for is Jack and I’m certain that you don’t want to give him up, right?” He sounded a little angry that I kept asking.

“Fair enough Grant, just checking. Good luck with your Knicks next season, I love Terry with Vlado and you should turn some heads.” I try and pacify the situation.

“Fingers crossed.” With that Grant hung up the phone.

Well, that went well.

Its Summer League time and we have three participants with Curtis, Kelly and Julius joining some hopefully of getting a spot.

Our first game is against Toronto and we take care of business fairly easily with a 108-99 win. Julius Hobbs top scored with 20 points but it was invitee Kebu Clark who took the game head on with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 steals but went 6/17 from the foul line. Why don’t big guys learn how to shoot free throws? Curtis Anderson was also great at PG with 18 points, 7 assists and 5 turnovers. John Morris was the best for the Raptors with 19 points.

Game two wasn’t as good, going down to Seattle 110-92 as the Sonics had six players in double figures as number seven pick Alfons Dietz had 13 points, 5 assists and 3 steals. Kelly was our top guy with 16 points as Kebu Clark fell back to earth with 0 points, 1 assist and 1 foul in 29 minutes and for most of the game I didn’t know he was out there. Julius had another nice outing with 14 points and 9 rebounds.

It’s not about the wins in summer league but it’s nice to be in the games as we got blown out by Houston 109-92. Julius Hobbs was fantastic with 25 points and 6 rebounds on 9/13 shooting and I like his offence at the moment. #2 pick Andy Kante had 21 points and 8 rebounds and he is rebounding much better than I thought.

Another loss, this time to Minnesota 99-93 as Colin Walker was great with 23 points and 7 assists while Chris Benjamin, who was drafted right at the end of the first round had 18 points and 14 rebounds. Julius Hobbs didn’t score much with 12 points but had 10 rebounds which is what I want to see. Kelly Pryor had 19 points to offset Curtis Anderson’s 2/10 night. Kebu Clark must be still living off his first game because he had another 0-fer with his only stat in 27 minutes being one foul. That’s it.

Our last game of the summer league ended up close but it really wasn’t for the rest of the game as we went down to Indiana 108-100. Steal of the draft Tip Smith had 21 points and 7 rebounds as #3 pick last season Jason Sanders had 18 points and 10 rebounds. Julius Hobbs was again very nice with 12 points and 11 rebounds while our backcourt of Pryor and Anderson combined for 33 points and 9 rebounds. I was really going to try and sign Kebu Clark after his first game but now he is nowhere on my radar after another woeful game, playing 27 minutes for 2 turnovers.

His first game was 16 points and 8 rebounds but after that he averaged zero points, zero rebounds, 0.25 assists and 0.5 turnovers. Big fall off. Actually, I found out later that he broke his arm but didn’t tell anyone because he wanted to impress the NBA teams! Wow, talk about dedication, he is back on my radar because that takes some big balls to play four games with a broken arm.

The year’s free agency isn’t as good as last year’s and like the previous year a lot of the top tier free agents are restricted so they most likely won’t be going anywhere. Here are the top ten –

SF Tiburcio Tommasini*
PG Camah Williams*
C Ronnie Howard
SF Chris Jackson*
SF Marlo Graham*
SG James McDaniel
SF Ali Riley
SF Andrew Owens
PG James Blakemore*
SG Reggie Blake*

As we are still over $10 million above the salary cap I won’t be going after the higher rated guys but we have the full MLE to play with so I feel like we should be able to get a nice starting C. I offer Joey Thunell the MLE as he isn’t the best scorer but his rebounding and defence are very good which is what I want.

After only two days Tiburcio Tommasini goes back to Portland for a five year maximum contract which is a win/win for both sides. Joey is interested in our offer and is mulling it over.

A few days later Camah Williams goes back to Minnesota for just less than the max but the big news is that James McDaniel spurns the Riders and signs a four year deal with Atlanta, making the Hawks much more potent. I don’t know why Atlanta keeps bringing in SGs with Chris Jones there; they picked Kelly Pryor two drafts ago and now bring in McDaniel. They must think that Jones is more of a PG in their sets.

Chris Jackson goes back to the Lakers, Marlo Graham re-signs with Seattle, Mike Joseph likes it in Nevada and Matias Perez turns down a very lucrative offer with Charlotte to go back to Toronto. In disappointing news Joey Thunell re-signs with San Antonio for not that much more than I was offering. I give the MLE to Marlon Haymon to see if he bites.

More big news as Reggie Blake signs an offer sheet worth just over $10 million a year with New York and the Bobcats have three days to match the offer or he will be a Knick. Haymon doesn’t like our offer so the MLE goes to Emmett Emerson. If we can get EE I will fall off my chair but it’s worth a try.

Ronnie Howard re-signs with Memphis which takes care of our top ten. It looks like Charlotte have given up on Reggie Blake so sign James Blakemore to an offer sheet for the same amount Blake signed with New York for.

Just as I thought, Emmett Emerson went back to Phoenix for much more than I offered. It’s like a game of musical chairs with this MLE as the next target is 26 year old Ryan Wadley.

Damn, damn, damn. Not only did Ryan Wadley accept his tender offer with Chicago, Marlon Haymon signed with Detroit to massively cut down our centre options. Ryan Garris and Ron Winston re-signed with their respective teams for over $10 million a year which was always going to happen as a lot of the young talent accepted their offer sheets. Just like most punters thought, the Bobcats didn’t match Reggie Blake’s offer so he is officially a New York Knick. It may be overpaying but I offer Peter McCaffery a three year MLE because he is a big body that is a fantastic defender.

Jared Arenas goes back to Philadelphia for a great deal and Ali Riley re-signs with Los Angeles. It’s good to see Brandon Anderer get paid, signing a 4 year, $23 million deal to stay with Milwaukee. I up the offer to Peter McCaffery to a four year deal because New Orleans are circling as well. There is still some nice talent out there like Andrew Owens, Jamal Howell and Sam Jennings just waiting for a new deal but probably out of my price range.

I’m striking out like a blind batter with no arms as Peter McCaffery goes back to New Orleans and I shelve my MLE. Andrew Owens makes the Knicks nice a stacked for four years and the first signing I have been able to make was third string PG Isaac Holdan.

Actually I lied about the MLE as I sign Jamal Howell to a one year contract for $5 million. He is 33 years old and quickly declining but he still has talent and for one year it’s no risk. Matt Wingfield comes here as our third string SG for two years at the minimum.

In a surprising change we get a steal with former #1 pick Casey Floyd signs on the dotted line for a two year LLE contract. Also we finally get a centre (but not starting material) in Issiah Hemhill for two years at the minimum. He is a horrific defender which is usually someone I hate but his other skills are good for a bench player. At 14 players and over $20 million above the cap I’m done. Hopefully Mr Stuart doesn’t get too angry about the salary on this team, especially when we still have $40 million in cut salary this season.

After the free agency I give Nashon Smith a three year, $30 million extension which is pretty damn good for a All NBA second teamer and All Defence first team last season. As training camp comes and goes Jack looks even better than last season. He should be a top five player in the league and I’m sure the 12 other teams that passed on him in the draft are kicking themselves now. Both Curtis Anderson and Kelly Pryor have improved but it looks like Jamal Howell will be starting at SG so I’m going to send Curtis down to the D-League for a while to give him some playing time. In negative news, Casey Floyd is practically useless now and is slotted as 13th man. What a waste of a number one pick, averaging 11.9 points a game for his career. I really thought when he went to Indiana and averaged 17 points per game his career would change but I was mistaken. Bust.

We’re picked to come 12th in the West which is quite low I think, we should again be gunning for a playoff berth with the new additions to the team.

Western Conference Pre-Season Rankings
1 – Los Angeles Lakers
2 – Portland Trailblazers
3 – Nevada Neon
4 – Minnesota Timberwolves
5 – San Antonio Spurs
Last – Denver Nuggets

This Western Conference is brutal as those top four teams all could easily win 60 games this season. Denver are definitely in a rebuilding year but it’s going to be really tough this season.

Eastern Confernce Pre-Season Rankings
1 – Miami Heat
2 – Memphis Grizzlies
3 – Boston Celtics
4 – Chicago Bulls
5 – Washington Wizards
Last – Cleveland Cavaliers

I’m not sure about this line-up and the Raptors shouldn’t be as low as seventh. Even the Bobcats at 10th are too low with an aging Anthony Davis. It’s good to see the Hawks higher than last at 11th but the Cavs are dead on, Ron Winston and Brooks Badu need to have career years to stay out of the gutter.

Pre-Season All NBA First Team:
Ledaryl McMillian, Golden State Warriors
Kenneth Long, Miami Heat
Enrique Mendez, Minnesota Timberwolves
Marcus Randle, Memphis Grizzlies
Mark Lewis, Utah Jazz

Pre-Season All NBA Second Team:
Michael Taylor, Los Angeles Lakers
Mike Bickerstaft, Oklahoma City Thunder
Jack Dawkins, Dallas Mavericks
Anthony Davis, Charlotte Bobcats
Jimmy Forrest, San Diego Riders

Pre-Season All NBA Third Team:
Camah Williams, Minnesota Timberwolves
Earl Oliver, Portland Trailblazers
Tiburcio Tommasini, Portland Trailblazers
Brad Largent, Chicago Bulls
Eryk Charnowski, Miami Heat

Here we go, your 2027-2028 “Dallas Dynasty 2.0” Dallas Mavericks –
PG – Nashon Smith
SG – Jamal Howell
SF – Jack Dawkins
PF – Julius Hobbs
C – Joe Duggins
6th – Issiah Hemhill
7th – Shawn Latimer
8th – Kelly Pryor
9th – Matt Wingfield
10th – Bart Flanders
11th – Casey Floyd
12th – Changa Hendricks
13th – Isaac Holdan
D-League – Curtis Anderson

Our first game started magnificently, getting out to a 31-10 first quarter lead to banish the Bucks 114-69. Jack Dawkins had a great game with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists as no-one played more than 31 minutes as everyone had at least 10 minutes which was good. Andrew Graham led the way for Milwaukee with 16 points.

Dallas Mavericks 1-0

What a steal Jack Dawkins has been, getting drafted at #13 and putting up 38 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists against the very good Miami Heat. Kobe Bryant was drafted #13, just saying. We overcame a six point three quarter time deficit to beat Miami 108-100. Casey Floyd is now in the starting line-up and did really well with 19 points and 8 rebounds as Nashon Smith added 21 points. Maybe this season is going to be Floyd’s best season. Tim Greenberg went head to head with Floyd with 33 points as Kenneth Long did it tough at PG with a 4/16 night.

Dallas Mavericks 2-0

This team is perfectly suited for Jack to get the best out of him and tonight in our 113-85 win over Boston he had 42 points and 7 rebounds. Floyd was serviceable with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Raul Lopez was held to only 9/21 shooting for 22 points as Chav-chav had 18 points in the loss.

Dallas Mavericks 3-0

Oh God, six games in six nights. This is the itinery – Houston, Boston, Dallas, Miami, Dallas then Los Angeles. In six nights. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.

First game is our first away game in Houston and we flog the Rockets 107-81 as they don’t have Kyrie Irving anymore. Jack had 28 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists while Nashon Smith assisted with 20 points. I got Smith instead of Reggie Dobbins because of his defence and his scoring and even though Dobbins is a much better passer we don’t need a top notch passer with Jack on the team. #2 pick Andy Kante went 7/21 for 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Rockets.

Dallas Mavericks 4-0

Up next is Boston, MA and even though the Celtics put up a better fight this time we still got the win to surprisingly win our first five games of the season 111-104. Jack was again our best with 27 points and 8 assists and I’m so glad I got Nashon who had 22 points on 6/9 shooting. Shawn Latimer added 15 points in 13 minutes off the bench. Chav-chav was the best for Boston with 24 points on below average shooting. Art Stevenson actually got some court time, scoring 2 points and grabbing 2 rebounds in 9 minutes.

Dallas Mavericks 5-0

It’s back home for a tussle against the 0-5 Nuggets and I don’t want to be the team that gives them their first win and luckily that doesn’t happen, winning in a low scoring 92-81 game. Jack had his first bad game, going 3/16 for 13 points and 6 rebounds but Issiah Hemhill had his best game as a Maverick with 15 points, 15 rebounds and 7 blocks in a dazzling display from a guy I didn’t expect much from. Chris Watkins had a very similar statline to Hemhill with 15 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks.

Dallas Mavericks 6-0

Down to Miami and we are starting to run out of steam as we lose our first game to the Heat 115-104. New addition Lance Ellis had 24 points off the bench to lead the Heat as Jack had 30 points to lead us but when a team shoots 52% from the field it’s really hard to stay with them, especially when this is our fourth game in four nights.

Dallas Mavericks 6-1

Back to Dallas for a game against the 3-3 Lakers who are looking for a morale boosting win against a hot starting Mavericks outfit. They get it as well, outscoring us 31-20 in the final term to snatch the 114-107 win. Michael Taylor and Josh Jackson combine for 46 points and 15 assists to strip us of any chance of winning. Jack went 7/18 for 21 points as Nashon Smith was disappointing with a 1/7 night for 2 points and 12 assists.

Dallas Mavericks 6-2

To make matters worse Julius Hobbs has started complaining about playing time and for once I agree with him. He is only playing 9.3 minutes a game so far and with the impressive start from Casey Floyd and Issiah Hemhill I don’t feel bad sending Julius down to the D-League.

Our last game of the six/six is a 103-94 revenge win over the Lakers in La-la land as even though Jack didn’t shoot well he still finished with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Casey Floyd had his best game with 20 points and 9 rebounds but sprained his finger and will be down for nearly two weeks. Luckily we have some good bench guys. Michael Taylor must have leather poisoning after tonight’s games, going 9/32 for 22 points. The most surprising statline was Ali Riley who only played 9 minutes in the game but shot 8/9 from the field and 4/4 from three for a whopping 23 points. 23 points in 9 minutes! Wow.

Dallas Mavericks 7-2

Another eight games in eight nights and this must be the NBA’s way of punishing us for the controversy a couple of years ago. In fact, we play 20 games in 30 nights in November which is simply insane. If we have just one major injury I’ll be over the moon.

Second year guy Jerry Benton had 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 blocks and is looking really damn good for being drafted #24 last season as we go down to the Hornets 105-95. Joe Duggins had his best game for the season with 23 points and 10 rebounds but our backcourt wasn’t as good, going 8/23 for 19 points. This is going to be a long month.

Dallas Mavericks 7-3

Next stop is Brooklyn, NY and even though we strike back with a 40-27 third quarter we weren’t really in the game, losing again 122-113. Lars Ray is injured and didn’t play but we still couldn’t get the win as Tyler Gainous led the way with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Jack went 12/14 from the foul line with 30 points but only gave out 2 assists.

Dallas Mavericks 7-4

That’s three losses in a row as the very good Nevada Neon smash us at home 115-85 with Mike Joseph putting up 23 points and 11 rebounds as he is a little miffed that he wasn’t on the pre-season All NBA teams. Darren Banks was close to a triple double with 9 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds as Matt Brown is still wallowing on the bench, playing 13 minutes. Jack scored 28 points but we only had three players in double figures as the next best was Issiah Hemhill with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Dallas Mavericks 7-5

We still have five games to go in a row with a visit to California against the Warriors. I wasn’t very excited as Jack strained an abdominal muscle and won’t be suiting up for us. Ledaryl McMillian had his usual good game with 26 points as the Warriors shot 51% from the field. But guess what? We won! Shawn Latimer had 21 points and 9 rebounds at SF while Isaac Holdan held his own against the Buzzsaw when Nashon fouled out with 17 points in 22 minutes off the bench. I’m really proud of this team with what they did tonight. We just need to keep the momentum up for the next four games.

Dallas Mavericks 8-5

Our guys are dropping like flies as not only Jack Dawkins and Casey Floyd now banged up Kelly Pryor has done an ankle and will be severely hampered for a while. To make matters worse we get smashed by the Riders 111-94 as three San Diego players had 20 points or more, led by John Brown’s 23 points and 9 rebounds. Nashon Smith did his job with 27 points but with everyone hurting it’s hard to play well in our fifth game in five nights.

Dallas Mavericks 8-6

Game six is another loss and I’ll be amazed if we can stay .500 by the end of the month. The Spurs take advantage of our situation with a 122-103 dismantling. Jack wanted to play which probably wasn’t the best thing to do as he finished with 2 points and 7 rebounds while getting schooled by Cedric Watson’s 31 points and 5 steals. Issiah Hemhill is starting for us at PF and had 21 points and 14 rebounds while Casey Floyd and Shawn Latimer added 20 ponits and 10 rebounds off the bench.

Dallas Mavericks 8-7

Sigh. Nashon Smith sprained his toe and is going to be subpar for about 10 days and at the end of the month I’m really going to have a talk with the scheduling guys. As you might have expected we lost again, this time to Nevada 111-94 as Ryan Garris and John Nemitz combined for 50 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists to a great display. Isaac Holdan is now starting at SG (because we don’t have anything else) and played well for 18 points and 5 assists.

Dallas Mavericks 8-8

I don’t think I have sighed more than I have in the last week as we finish our eight games in eight nights with a 125-111 home loss to Seattle. Marlo Graham was great with 27 points and Travis Grigsby added 11 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds. Jack Dawkins seems to be nearly healed with 30 points and Bart Flanders added 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench but in all of the commotion of the brutal schedule I didn’t notice the poor form of Jamal Howell. Tonight he went 1/10 from the field and on the season he is averaging 8.6 points per game on only 34% from the field. It may be the heavy work load of the month so I’m not jumping to conclusions but if he doesn’t increase his production he will be gone.

Dallas Mavericks 8-9

Phew, we have two days off and then three games in three nights and then it is the end of the month. It’s against New York and we lose our fifth game in a row and eighth loss in ten games, going down 99-80. New acquisition Reggie Blake had 23 points to lead the way as Terry McKenzie had a poor night with 6 points and 5 rebounds before fouling out. Jack had a terrible shooting night (6/20) for 21 points as we now have Matt Wingfield starting at PG for 15 points on 11/16 foul shots.

Dallas Mavericks 8-10

Sigh. Even though the Wolves are doing badly so far this year with Camah Williams injured they still took care of us pretty well with a final score of 113-102. Enrique Mendez was a man among boys with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists as Joe Holmes did well for a Williams substitute with 13 points. Jack is back to his best with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists but we are still hampered with injuries to really put the Wolves to the test.

Dallas Mavericks 8-11

Finally the end of the month arrives as we beat up on the 3-12 Nets 128-106 to give us a little bit of breathing room. Jack Dawkins had 35 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists to lead six other Maverick players in double figures. Chris Canal hit 10 threes on the game for 36 points but turned it over 8 times in the loss.

Dallas Mavericks 9-11

I never thought that month would end but mercifully it did and we are sitting 10th in the West which is just fine by me after that gauntlet. The Lakers are leading at 11-4 with San Antonio and Golden State not too far behind them so at the moment it’s anyone’s conference. Houston are sitting at the bottom and will be looking for another high draft pick for their rebuilding effort.

In the East it’s a Washington led conference at 12-4, with New York and Detroit only a game behind the Wizards. We have a three team tie for last place with Indiana, Cleveland and Brooklyn all at 3-13 and it will be a great chase for the worst record in the East.

I'm happy enough with a 9-11 month after that. I love it how you said 'we', gave me a huge smile. Usually a dynasty is me telling you about it, not 'we' as a team going through it together so thanks for that.:D

November Player of the Month – Mike Bickerstaf, Oklahoma City – 28.3 points, 6.4 assists, 6.9 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 0.0 blocks per game.

November Rookie of the Month – Michael McQuay, Atlanta Hawks – 19.2 points, 2.0 assists, 8.4 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.0 block per game.

Only thirteen games in December which will seem like a holiday compared to last month.

In our home game against the Lakers Jack had 29 points while Casey Floyd put up 16 points and 11 rebounds as we held a eleven point lead at three quarter time. Unfortunately we weren’t the fourth quarter specialists like previous years as we got smashed 34-14 in the last to let the win slip through our fingers 101-92. Michael Taylor is a bonafide top three point guard with 25 points and 7 assists as their five starters scored all by 17 points in the game.

Dallas Mavericks 9-12

The Pacers are horrible this season at 3-13 and we give them some more heartache by winning in a high scoring game 132-121. Issiah Hemhill started at PF but it was Casey Floyd who was our best with 26 points in 28 minutes off the bench. Another bench guy Isaac Holdan had 25 points and he has been a huge surprise for the team so far. Jack nearly had his first triple double wtih 16 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds. For some reason the Pacers have SG Tip Smith at SF and SF Darrell Hampton at SG which didn’t work for Hampton. Smith was fantastic, going 10/13 for 27 points and 10 rebounds and Leone De Niro and Travis Ross combining for 47 points, 17 rebounds and 8 rebounds but Indiana’s All NBA player Hampton went 1/7 for 6 points.

Dallas Mavericks 10-12

That’s two in a row as we take care of the Sonics 124-105 and I’m ready to eat some crow about Casey Floyd. Sure Jack led the way with 25 points but Floyd had 21 points and 10 rebounds and is playing really well so far. Kelly Pryor has taken over the starting SG role and put up 17 points in the win. Jamal Howell looks to be done as Father Time has taken him away. I’m going to try and trade him for someone or at least cap space. Travis Grigsby has really taken to being a PG with 19 points and 17 assists in the loss.

Dallas Mavericks 11-12

I look around the league to see if I can find a nice starting centre for Howell and our first round pick in two years. Sure Howell isn’t playing for us now but he is still a good player in a team that doesn’t need him to be a superstar. I try and get Corey Barnes from Portland but no dice and San Antonio and Sacramento turn me down, not because it wasn’t an unfair offer but they don’t want to upset their playoff chances with new players. I do find someone which makes me very happy and the team I’m dealing with has no problem doing the deal. I might be overpaying a little but I’m satisfied.

Dallas trade:
SF Jamal Howell
PG Changa Hendricks
SF Shawn Latimer
2030 1st round pick

Phoenix trade:
C Emmett Emerson

Winner – Both. The Mavericks get their much coveted starting centre in Emerson while the Suns get a sixth and eighth man in Howell and Latimer. They didn’t need anyone spectacular but really needed some bench depth which ticked all the boxes. Hendricks was released.

I sign Jeremy Allen to be our third string PG and ex-captain Harrison Barnes and Mike Bailey for some back-up at SF. As Emmett is injured (sore arm) at the moment he will be coming off the bench for his first game I recall Julius Hobbs to start at PF.

Lisandro Perez and Jack Dawkins were both outstanding for different reasons, with the Sixers’ SF having 35 points and 7 rebounds as our SF putting up 24 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists as we squeeze out a 114-112 heart stopping win. Julius Hobbs was terrific with 21 points and 13 rebounds in his first game back from the D-League but was seen after the game having a go at Bart Flanders who isn’t very happy about another PF on the team. Jamil Fleming is slowly living up to his #1 pick status with 16 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds.

Dallas Mavericks 12-12

The Spurs beat us a few times in our horror last month so it was so, so sweet to get revenge with a 117-81 win as Jack only needed 15 shots to get 22 points to go with 8 assists and 6 rebounds. Emmett Emerson is now fully healthy and put up 18 points and 7 rebounds in a great display. Another one of my centre targets, Antonio Henderson, had 14 points and 6 rebounds to lead the way for San Antonio.

Dallas Mavericks 13-12

Our winning streak was snapped thanks to 29 points from Joe Abney who seems to have a huge grudge against me as tonight he went 10/13 from the field which is very strange as the Kings beat us 110-98. He has a good reason because I constantly talk about how much of a disappointment he was when I drafted him at Memphis. Jack was our only decent scorer with 25 points but he went 8/24 and turned the ball over seven times. Joe Duggins had 13 points and 13 rebounds off the bench.

Dallas Mavericks 13-13

The Hawks aren’t the worst team in the league anymore and at 14-11 are dreaming of playoffs at the moment. We squash that dream with a 127-101 beatdown. Jack had a much better shooting night for 33 points while Emmett Emerson is giving us that scoring option in the middle that Joe couldn’t give with 21 points and 9 rebounds on 7/10 shooting. Julius Hobbs is back to the bench but isn’t complaining, putting up 11 points and 6 rebounds. James McDaniel had 28 points but Chris Jones had a terrible shooting night, going 1/10 for 4 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. The Wizard’s shooting still hasn’t clicked but his passing and rebounding playing at PG is outstanding. #1 pick Michael McQuay had 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Dallas Mavericks 14-13

It seems that Jack and Emmett are gelling very nicely as they combined to shoot 20/35 for 65 points as we overcome a slow start to beat Milwaukee 122-114. Casey Floyd is now on the bench but that didn’t stop him from scoring 10 points in 8 minutes. Brandon Anderer is now starting at SF for the Bucks and put up 31 points which is fantastic, helped out by Raoul Dumas’ 19 assists.

Dallas Mavericks 15-13

Bart Flanders has another go at Julius Hobbs and when I sat him down to have a talk he wouldn’t have a bar of it and walked out. Oh well, he made his decision so I trade him and our 2030 2nd round pick for Atlanta’s 2030 2nd round pick. It isn’t much but it gets him out of here.

**TRADE**

Boston trade:
C Art Stevenson

San Diego trade:
2028 1st round pick

Winner – San Diego. Yes Art is now behind Jimmy Forrest but he is slotted in as the first big man off the bench and should get an increase in minutes to give him some more court time to grow. The pick will either be outside the lottery or just inside.

The Hornets are 18-7 but they didn’t have a 20 game first month and after a 40-31 first quarter we tore them to shreds with a 120-104 win. Guess who did the damage? That’s right Jack, with a 15/20 free throw night he scored the most points he has ever scored with 47 points and 7 rebounds on the night. Joe Duggins and Casey Floyd combined for 25 points and 13 rebounds as Julius Hobbs and Emmett Emerson fouled out early. Aleks led the way for the Hornets with 25 points and 9 rebounds and is massive value for a #31 pick. Kyrie Irving could only manage 19 points and 6 turnovers.

Dallas Mavericks 16-13

The Jazz are 15-5 somehow as Derrick Favors is now 36 years old and just a bench player and we saw right through their facade with a 117-91 home win. Jack only went to the foul line six times but did hit 10 three pointers on his way to 44 points and 5 rebounds. I guess you can forgive him only having four assists. Isaac Holdan is now fully healed and started at SG and scored 15 points and 7 assists. Talk about value for money. Emmett Emerson fouled out in eight minutes giving our bench guys some much needed court time. Mark Lewis also fouled out with only 8 points and 5 rebounds to his name which puts Utah at a huge disadvantage.

Dallas Mavericks 17-13

That’s five wins in a row as we get more revenge on a team that beat us in November, cruising past Sacramento 124-100 as we shot 53% from the field to the Kings’ 42%. Jack ‘only’ had 26 points and 9 rebounds as Nashon Smith backed him up with 26 points. Isaac Holdan had 16 points and 5 assists and is making me look like a genius. Joe Abney had his usual night with 12 points on 5/17 shooting. Hayletts Smith is now starting for the Kings which is nice and had 14 points and 9 rebounds in the loss. It’s always nice to see ex-players getting a chance with other teams.

Dallas Mavericks 18-13

It was the Jack and Emmett show again as they combined for 59 points, 18 rebounds and 8 assists as we brush past the Magic 118-95 from start to finish. Reggie Dobbins was his usual best with 27 points and 11 assists and is really enjoying it there in Orlando, averaging 17 points, 11 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals a game so far. Even though he is averaging better than Nashon so far I’m really loving Nashon’s defence and scoring skills and that trade seems to have worked out for everyone.

Dallas Mavericks 19-13

Our last game of the month is a 122-107 away win against San Diego as we had seven players in double figures led by Emmett Emerson and Casey Floyd who had 22 points each. Jack had the night off, only playing 22 minutes and had 15 points in the win. Jimmy Forrest tried his best for 26 points but was held to only 24 minutes before fouling out guarding Emmett. Art Stevenson had a whopping 17 minutes with 6 points and 4 rebounds so hopefully he keeps getting regular minutes.

Dallas Mavericks 20-13

I guess when you don’t play a billion games in a month you actually win some, shown by our 11-2 December which puts us up to fifth in the West. Los Angeles are on top at 20-6 with two other teams above .700 and there are eleven teams with a record or .500 or better. Talk about brutal. Houston are down the bottom and will most likely be there for the rest of the season with a 4-21 record. I guess lots of shots for Andy Kante.

Miami, Washington and New Orleans are pretty much tied for first (all different amount of wins and losses) which is really surprising to see the Hornets up there. In stark contrast to the West, only five teams are .500 or higher. Brooklyn are looking for next season at 7-21 and last in the East.

First Round of NBA Draft Prospects
1. PF Nathaniel Jackson (Oklahoma State), Freshman, 6’11”, 236lbs
2. SG Ray Haymon (Temple), Sophomore, 6’3”, 207lbs
3. PF Traves Parker (Mercer), Sophomore, 6’8”, 236lbs
4. SG Steve Mapp (New Mexico State), Sophomore, 6’3”, 224lbs
5. PF Chris Barnes (Freshman), Seton Hall, Freshman, 6’11”, 251lbs

Thoughts – Definitely not as good a draft as last year but still has some quality. Jackson is extremely raw at the moment and will be at least a two/three year project for whoever drafts him. The one player being slept on is Junior centre Jason Harriman from Syracuse who is averaging 26 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocks a game in a very good Syracuse team and the only reason he is rated sixth is because of him being a third year guy. Don’t be surprised if Harriman gets drafted number one when all is said and done.

As I'm gearing up to begin my return to writing a gargantuan dynasty, I hope I find some readers as loyal as I am to your story.
