CSU Bakersfield

Postby PointGuard » Sun Oct 27, 2013 11:41 pm

A very good year for my old team.

The Roadrunners finished tied for the league championship with Seattle with a 10-4 record. CSU Bakersfield went on to win the Great West Conference Tournament by beating Seattle in the championship game. They finished the year with a 23-7 record, ranked #21 in the Media Poll, and with the 34th best RPI in the nation.

Their scoring was led by SG Brett Holt with 12.1 ppg, PF Terrence Delk with 11.1 ppg, C Jeff Gilbert with 10.5 ppg., and PG Jerry Yearwood with 8.9 ppg. Jeff Gilbert was their top rebounder with 8.0 rpg and Jerry Yearwood was their top in assists with 2.6 apg.

Eight of their 15 players are graduating this year, including starters Jerry Yearwood, Brett Holt, Mitchell Jarmond, and Jeff Gilbert.

Great West Defensive Player of the Year—C Jeff Gilbert, CSU Bakersfield

Great West Coach of the Year—Scott Roberts, CSU Bakersfield

Great West 1st Team All-Conference—PF Terrence Delk, CSU Bakersfield

Great West 1st Team All-Conference—C Jeff Gilbert, CSU Bakersfield

After the NCAA Tournament, I called Scott Roberts to congratulate him on taking the Roadrunners to the Elite 8 and also winning the Great West Coach of the Year Award. It was great to see my old players going so far and my former assistant coach being so successful.

Meeting with the board

Postby PointGuard » Sun Oct 27, 2013 11:58 pm

We met the only goal for this year (Don’t finish last in the conference). This goal was not changed for the forthcoming year.

I requested an upgrade to our D+ rated facilities but the request was denied...like many of the students, alumni, and local community, the administration obviously isn’t overly interested in basketball at the University of New Hampshire.
