New York, New York! Bringing a championship home

2030 NBA Finals

#1 Philadelphia vs. #1 Dallas

We won our two matches against the Sixers but this team is on fire after storming home against Washington last series.

Point Guard
Jamil Fleming vs. Ledaryl McMillian
19.1 points, 12.5 assists, 5.2 rebounds vs. 25.9 points, 7.9 assists, 3.8 rebounds

When Fleming was drafted number one a few years ago not many people thought he would be as good as he is now. The premier passing point guard in the league his court vision is amazing but what sets him apart is his rebounding a scoring. At only six foot tall he averaged 6.2 rebounds a game during the regular season and already has 15 triple doubles in his four year career. This kind can do it all and will push the Buzzsaw all the way.

Winner - Dallas

Shooting Guard
John Kelly vs. Haven Roberson
20.2 points, 3.6 assists, 4.7 rebounds vs. 8.3 points, 1.4 assists, 3.2 rebounds

As usual Roberson won’t play that much as Earl Oliver will be the main guy but Oliver will struggle mightly against the bigger Kelly. At 26 years old, Kelly is technically the best defender in the league, and he’s still growing. Kelly is also as good a scorer as Oliver while his passing would put many point guards to shame. This kid has it all.

Winner - Philadelphia

Small Forward
Jamaal Lewis vs. Jack Dawkins
14.7 points, 2.2 assists, 5.4 rebounds vs. 20.2 points, 7.1 assists, 5.8 rebounds

Another player who is an elite defender Lewis can do nearly everything well but not really anything top class. He is a great defender, stealer and decent scorer but he will need to stick to Captain Jack like glue because Dawkins will be gunning for his second title in a row.

Winner - Dallas

Power Forward
Jared Arenas vs. Terry McKenzie
19.8 points, 1.6 assists, 8.6 rebounds vs. 19.8 points, 0.9 assists, 9.7 rebounds

Apart from the Fleming/McMillian match-up this is the one to watch. Arenas is getting old (33 years old) but he can still bring it and is desperate for his first title. McKenzie is also desperate for his first ring and even though his last series was a disappointment he played well against slower opponents in the past.

Winner - Dallas

Centre
Justin Robinson vs. Corey Barnes
11.3 points, 0.9 assists, 9.4 rebounds vs. 11.8 points, 1.1 assists, 7.5 rebounds

An amazing shot blocker but a below average defender Robinson chases the ball too much to really be any threat. His scoring is coming along but his battle against Barnes won’t be looked at with the other battles happening around them. That was said about Barnes last series and he torched Schuyler Vanderwerken so don’t sleep on him.

Winner - Draw

Bench
Ian Ransom, Mike Bryant, Hector Carter vs. Earl Oliver, Mike Lingle, Corry Hackworth

Ransom and Bryant filled in nicely when Justin Robinson went down with a broken ankle at the start of the playoffs but other than those two there really isn’t any second unit Sixer who really steps up. On the other hand Oliver, Lingle and to an extent Hackworth are valuable members of the squad who will give some quality minutes.

Winner – Draw

Prediction – Dallas in six. This Mavericks team is just too talented to really be troubled by the youth of Philadelphia but if the Sixers can steal an early game then there could be a change of an upset.

In my euphoria of making it to the NBA Finals again I may have blurted out on national television that if we won the title I would buy every Dallas season ticket holder a jersey of whoever won the NBA Finals award. Not the owner, the guy who has bazillions of dollars, but me. Gulp. Let’s go Mavs!

Game one was immense, as we raced out to a 28-19 first quarter lead as the Buzzsaw ripped shreds of Jamil Fleming, scoring 14 points in the first term and saddling Fleming with three quick fouls. It was the polar opposite in the second as a whole team effort from the Sixers brought them the lead with a 32-22 second term and they held a slim 51-50 half time lead. Jamaal Lewis was great on Jack, holding him to tough shots while Haven Roberson must have missed the memo where he should never shoot, going 1/13 from the field for the game. Quarter three was tight but we wrestled a one point three quarter time lead to go into the last term with the slightest of momentum. In the fourth the flood gates were opened as the Buzzsaw took over again as we take the first game 113-106. Ledaryl was amazing, going 16/24 for 37 points and 6 rebounds. Corey and T-Mac were practically invisible as both fouled out in less than three quarters as Justin Robinson and Jared Arenas combined for 30 points, 16 rebounds and 7 blocks. The x-factor for us was Earl Oliver, who had 19 points on 5/8 shooting in only 25 minutes to push us over the line in the last term. He might not start the game but he sure as hell finished it.

Dallas leads 1-0

T-Mac finally woke up with 28 points and 13 rebounds as we scorched the Sixers 33-17 in the first quarter as the crowd was ballistic. The Sixers didn’t quit though, scraping and battling to bring the lead back in every quarter until it was level with 7.5 seconds to go. John Kelly had a tough night even though he had 26 points as he went 9/24 from the field but when the game is on the line the ball goes into his hands. Kelly caught the ball at the top of the key and the obvious flat set was called with the poor defender in Earl Oliver trying to hold him. Five seconds a screen from Justin Robinson comes out and Kelly dribbles to his right. Four seconds, the screen is a strong one as Oliver gets caught on Robinson’s big frame. Two seconds, Kelly raises up with Corey Barnes a half step away and drains the basket to steal the win on our court 119-117. The crowd put up their hands as one and a massive groan is heard as the Sixers rip home court advantage out of our hands and John Kelly is the hero. Damn.

Series tied 1-1

The last time Philly was in the NBA Finals was way back in 2000, thirty years ago and they got stomped by Shaq and Kobe. The last time they actually won the whole damn thing was way back in 1982 so if you think the fans are wanting this championship then you would be right. There are so many crazy rumours going on around here it’s hard to know what’s right and what’s made up. I heard that the tickets were completely sold out 35 minutes after they beat the Wizards. I heard that tonight that if anyone is wearing any Dallas paraphernalia then they wouldn’t be allowed in, even with a valid ticket. I heard that anyone with a Texas accent would be set on fire. OK, maybe that one wasn’t true but it’s like a mad house around here.

We still had a say in all of this and we got out to our regular fast start with a 10 point lead at half time behind Ledaryl’s 31 points. After the long break something must have clicked in the Sixers’ minds as they went on a tear, outscoring us 35-14 in the third and I couldn’t hear myself think where i was sitting. They cruised to a 113-101 win in the end to delirious fans and my ears are ringing. John Kelly continued on from his game winning shot with 24 points as Jack was held to only 6/20 shooting. In fact, apart from Ledaryl none of our guys shot 50% as we went 40% from the field which just isn’t our game. If our shots aren’t falling we aren’t winning the game.

Philadelphia leads 2-1

Oh my God it’s pandemonium right now as the two best Sixers players who haven’t done anything in the first three games actually stood up as Jamaal Lewis scored 38 points and 9 rebounds while Jamil Fleming added 26 points and 13 assists and we got embarrassed, going down 126-92 and to the brink of elimination. This city is buzzing at the moment as I’m pretty sure that the stadium will collapse if they win the next game.

Philadelphia leads 3-1

As the NBA Finals is played with a 2-3-2 format with their game two win in Dallas the Sixers now have a chance to finish this on their home court which is really a frightening prospect. Jack finally, FINALLY got out from Jamaal Lewis with 32 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds while Ledaryl had his usual great game with 27 points and 7 assists but the rest of the team stunk it up again as we lose the game and the series and the trophy 123-113! Jamil Fleming was again the man with 34 points and 14 assists while Finals MVP John Kelly continued his rise to fame with 31 points and 6 assists. Hell the Sixers shot 56% from the field to our paltry 45%.

Someone get me a drink...

Philadelphia wins 4-1

To make matters worse after seeing the Sixers dominate the national media but with the New York pick we got from the Terry McKenzie trade that we dealt to Golden State for Ledaryl McMillian has a pretty damn good chance of snaking of the of the Carlsson brothers. I know, I know, the Buzzsaw is amazing but these Swedish twins are something else. Anyway, onto the lottery –

16 – Golden State (0)
15 – Oklahoma City (0)
14 – Utah (0)
13 – Houston (0)
12 – Los Angeles (0)
11 – Charlotte (0)
10 – Detroit (0)
9 – Toronto (0)
8 – Sacramento (-1)

The Cavs have jumped.

7 – Seattle (-1)
6 – Phoenix (-1)
5 – Memphis (-1)
4 – Indiana (-1)
3 – Orlando (-2)
2 – Cleveland (+6)
1 – Golden State (+1)

There you go, the Magic get shafted out of a premade superstar.

Awards time and I can definitely see Ledaryl and T-Mac getting nods.

Most Vaulable Player:
Ledaryl McMillian, Dallas Mavericks – 29.1 points, 7.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 steals, 0.7 blocks

Great accomplishment for the Buzzsaw and my second MVP after Kevin Durant got one quite a while ago.

Defensive Player of the Year:
Cedric Watson, San Antonio Spurs – 15.3 points, 2.1 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 2.3 steals, 1.0 block

Watson wins again and I don’t really see the charm of him. Sure he is good but this is like his fourth award in a row.

Sixth Man of the Year:
Tobe Slaughter, Portland Trailblazers – 18.9 points, 1.1 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 0.7 steals, 0.0 blocks

Really should be starting.

Rookie of the Year:
Ryan Obrien, Cleveland Cavaliers – 13.1 points, 1.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds, 0.5 steals, 0.8 blocks

Bit of a surprise as I thought Orlando’s Matt Reid would have won this award.

Coach of the Year:
Kevin Garnett, Dallas Mavericks
– 69-13 (.841)

Woooooo!

All NBA First Team:
Ledaryl McMillian, Dallas Mavericks

Mike Bickerstaf, Oklahoma City Thunder
Enrique Mendez, Minnesota Timberwolves
Michael McQuay, Atlanta Hawks
Jerry Benton, New Orleans Hornets

All NBA Second Team:
Jamil Fleming, Philadelphia 76ers
Jason London, Denver Nuggets
Darrell Hampton, Chicago Bulls
Terry McKenzie, Dallas Mavericks
Schuyler Vanderwerken, Denver Nuggets

All NBA Third Team:
Michael Taylor, Los Angeles Lakers
Varlam Chavchavadze, Boston Celtics
Tiburcio Tommasini, Portland Trailblazers
Victor Brinker, Oklahoma City Thunder
Marlon Haymon, Detroit Pistons

All Defence First Team:
Camah Williams, Minnesota Timberwolves
Vlado Prazina, New Orleans Hornets
Cedric Watson, San Antonio Spurs
Carl Farmer, Denver Nuggets
Joey Thunell, San Antonio Spurs

All Defence Second Team:
Jamil Fleming, Philadelphia 76ers
Chris Canal, Brooklyn Nets
Jamaal Lewis, Philadelphia 76ers
Marcus Randle, Portland Trailblazers
Brian Benton, Washington Wizards

All Rookie First Team:
Carl Abrams, Utah Jazz
Jon Williams, Sacramento Kings
Ryan Obrien, Cleveland Cavaliers
Matt Reid, Orlando Magic
Josiah Williams, Indiana Pacers

All Rookie Second Team:
Eric Holt, Seattle Supersonics
Chris Horvath, Golden State Warriors
Danny Perez, Phoenix Suns
Pat Sola, Brooklyn Nets
Jerome Brown, Los Angeles Lakers

I get a call from Mr Perry and we have it down to an art. He asks how I thought I did, I answer pretty good but I wish we got over the line. He agrees and tells me to go get it next season. Next he asks how much this team will cost him next season and I say, like usual, that you won’t have to pay much luxury tax and he fake scolds me for spending too much but he really doesn’t mean it much. Next.

The mock draft unsurprisingly has both Carlsson brothers at number one and two but it’s the offensive minded Magnus who is mocked to be #1. Who will win out, offence or defence?

1 – Golden State – SG Magnus Carlsson
2 – Cleveland – SG Oskar Carlsson
3 – Orlando – PF Ishmael Faye
4 – Indiana – PF Reggie Smith
5 – Memphis – SG Kenyatta Harvey
6 – Phoenix – SG Rashon Tart
7 – Seattle – PF Shawn Wynn
8 – Sacramento – C Diego Acosta
9 – Toronto – SF Lionel Guiden
10 – Detroit – SG Jeremy Masic
11 – Charlotte – C Darryl Abrams
12 – Los Angeles – C Kresimir Balas
13 – Houston – PG Curtis Mueller
14 – Utah – PG LaZelle Brown
15 – Oklahoma City – C Charles Robinson

End of Year Report of the Rookie Six – Year Five

#17 PG Cort Majishun, Memphis Grizzlies – 19.6 points, 9.3 assists, 4.3 rebounds, 1.0 steal, 0.4 blocks
Career Stats – 17.6 points, 8.6 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 1.0 steal, 0.3 blocks

I don’t know how he puts up with playing with the Grizz and any other superstar would have demanded a trade long ago. One of the best point guards in the league he still has a little bit of growing to do but at the moment he is nearly at his limit. It’s been said before but if Cort can get some help in the draft or in free agency he will be able to get into that Ledaryl McMillian/Camah Williams level of PG.

2x Rookie/Sophomore Game Starter (2025, 2026)
1x All Rookie 1st Team (2025)
1x All Star Game Reserve (2029)
1x All Star Game MVP (2029)

#41 SF Jack Dawkins, Dallas Mavericks – 21.0 points, 6.8 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 0.9 steals, 0.3 blocks
Career Stats – 23.0 points, 5.5 assists, 5.9 rebounds, 0.8 steals, 0.3 blocks

He was ropable when the Mavericks lost to the 76ers in the NBA Finals and has vowed to do all he can to get another championship. His play is outstanding and Captain Jack is probably the best all around player in the game today. Look for him and the Mavs to come out swinging next season.

2x Rookie/Sophomore Game Starter (2025, 2026)
2x All Star Game Reserve (2026, 2027)
1x All Star Game Starter (2028)
2x All NBA Second Team (2027, 2028)
1x NBA Championship (2028)

#43 PF Terry McKenzie, Dallas Mavericks – 17.9 points, 1.0 assist, 9.2 rebounds, 1.1 steals, 0.8 blocks
Career Stats – 18.2 points, 0.8 assists, 8.7 rebounds, 1.1 steals, 0.9 blocks

The only player in the Rookie Six to be named to an All NBA team, his second team nod came in his worst statistical season. He still played amazingly but with a better supporting case he didn’t need to do as much. As with Jack Dawkins, McKenzie is roaring to get his first championship after being denied this season.

1x All Star Game Reserve (2028)
2x All NBA First Team (2027, 2028)
1x All NBA Second Team (2029)
1x All Star Game Starter (2029)
2x Rookie/Sophomore Game Starter (2025, 2026)
1x All Rookie 1st Team (2025)

#13 SG Kenneth Long, Miami Heat – 15.4 points, 8.0 assists, 4.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals, 0.9 blocks
Career Stats – 15.3 points, 6.4 assists, 4.3 rebounds, 1.1 steals, 1.0 block

Anoe player who needs to find his role. Is he a shooter? Is he a distributor? Because right now the Heat want him to do a bit of both and it’s just not working for him. He had eight assists a night this season but he turned the ball over 3.1 times and shot the lowest he has ever shot since his rookie season. He either needs a change of scenery or a change of team.

2x All Star Game Reserve (2027, 2028)
1x All Star Game MVP (2027)
1x NBA Championship (2027)
1x NBA Finals MVP (2027)
2x All NBA 2nd Team (2027, 2028)
1x Rookie/Sophomore Game Starter (2026)
1x All Defence 2nd Team (2028)

#4 SG Chris Jones, Atlanta Hawks – 15.2 points, 6.8 assists, 4.9 rebounds, 1.6 steals, 0.0 blocks
Career Stats – 14.7 points, 6.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds, 1.4 steals, 0.0 blocks

He started out like a house on fire, burning up the floor and opposition as he finally had the chance to play SG with Matt Brown brought in. That all faded away as the Hawks went back to their Jones/James McDaniel backcourt that just didn’t work for The Wizard. After taking the tender offer from Atlanta he is now an unrestricted free agent and hopefully he goes to a team that lets him play his natural game.

2x Rookie/Sophomore Game Reserve (2025, 2026)
1x All Rookie 2nd Team (2025)
1x All Star Game Reserve (2029)

#45 C Art Stevenson, Cleveland Cavaliers – 13.8 points, 1.0 assist, 8.2 rebounds, 0.8 steals, 2.2 blocks
Career Stats – 11.1 points, 0.8 assists, 5.8 rebounds, 0.5 steals, 1.2 blocks

Art regressed mightly from the season before when he was with the Riders as every single statistic was down now he got the big contract in Cleveland. Many believe that he reduction in form was him getting used to a new town but others have speculated that now he has a fat contract he doesn’t have the drive any more. What will next season say?

Before the draft starts I thought I would go over the things we need to win the championship next season –

1. Either start Earl Oliver at SG or get someone that will. Having Haven Roberson was a big mistake in retrospect so we need a quality 2guard and I’ll try and trade Earl if I can.
2. Beef up the bench. We have Mike Lingle and Corry Hackworth but they are the only two guys of note at the moment. This will probably be done in free agency but it doesn’t hurt to try at the draft.
3. Try and upgrade to a defensive centre. Barnes is a good player but if we can get upgrade I’ll jump at it.

OK, onto the draft.

2030 NBA Draft

1 – Golden State – SG Magnus Carlsson
Well, offence trumps defence. Case solved.

2 – Cleveland – SG Oskar Carlsson
He will be unbelievable with Art Stevenson and will bring out the best in the big man. Say goodbye to starting Ron Winston.

I go shopping and realise that the cupboard is bare. There is no-one of note that is in range of my assets as most of the SGs that I wanted to target are free agents this year so can’t be traded. This got a whole lot harder.

3 – Orlando – C Darryl Abrams
Not... a good pick. I know they have Matt Reid on their squad but Reggie Smith and Ish Faye are franchise changers.

I nearly have a deal with San Antonio that would have suited both of our needs but they pull out after realising that they want to keep the squad together. I can respect that but still leaves me with limited options.

I do make a deal that will solve our centre problem.

Dallas trade:
C Corey Barnes
2032 1st round pick

Orlando trade:
C Tyson Joyner

Winner – Orlando. Barnes and Joyner are fairly similar, Barnes a better rebounder while Joyner is a much better defender but the Magic pick up a first round pick which is always good, even if it is going to be low.

4 – Indiana – PF Ish Faye
Great pick here as any other draft he would have gone first.

5 – Memphis – SG Rashon Tart
It seems that Reggie Smith has developed a bad attitude and has scared a few teams off. Tart is probably the second best SG in the draft behind Kenyetta Harvey but is a decent pick. Not good by any stretch of the imagination but not bad.

Doesn’t look like any other teams want a 34 year old SG who can’t defend and doesn’t start for his team yet still makes $15 million so I put my trigger finger away and see if anyone wants to deal.

6 – Phoenix – SG Kenyatta Harvey
Great pick here by the Suns as he has a great handle on the offensive end already and at 6’7” has the size to play in this league.

7 – Seattle – PF Reggie Smith
Talent wise this is the steal of the draft but if he can’t keep his attitude in check it could be a bumpy ride for him and the Sonics.

8 – Sacramento – C Diego Acosta
Hugely raw at the moment but could become one of the best players in the draft. Has all the tools but it’s up to him now.

9 – Toronto – SF Lionel Guiden
Hmm, not sure about this pick as the scounting report had him as ‘never a big time scorer’ and ‘lacks lateral movement to be a good perimeter defender’. The scouts like it but I’m dubious.

10 – Detroit – SG Jeremy Masic
Has a very calm head and always seems to have more time than he should with the ball. He is probably too slow to be a real impact player and at #10 he isn’t good value.

11 – Charlotte – PF Shawn Wynn
Massive steal here as Wynn will be a great talent. Great rebounder, nice back to the basket player and if he can cut down on the turnovers the Bobcats have a star.

12 – Los Angeles – SF Ben Herrion
One of the best scorers in the country at college level he will get plenty of good looks from Michael Taylor. He doesn’t do much else but if he can fill a niche he will do well.

13 – Houston – PG Curtis Mueller
Nearly averaged a triple double in college and he is the first point guard taken. I really like this pick as he could blossom in Houston.

14 – Utah – SG Robb Woodward
Great physical gifts, but basketball talents? Hmm, not sure about that. Terrible that Woodward was picked in the lottery.

15 – Oklahoma City – PG LaZelle Brown
Funny name but great player. Another steal at the end of the lottery.

16 – Golden State – SF Andre Sheppard
Sometimes can be too lax with the ball but his quick hands and feet make him a great defender.

17 – Chicago – PF Brian Holmes
18 – Brooklyn – SG Paul Cunningham

I make a trade that depletes our stocks at the moment but could get us a great young big man.

Dallas trade:
C Mike Lingle
C Issiah Hemhill

Washington trade:
SF Lavor Freeman
2030 1st round pick (#19)
2030 2nd round pick (#56)

Winner – Washington. In short Lingle is better than anyone at pick #19 for ‘win now’ teams like Washington.

19 – Dallas – C Kresimir Balas
He may be really raw now but I believe that he could be a standout of this draft in a few years. His attitude is great and his work ethic is out of this world. I like it but the experts are mixed.

20 – Atlanta – PG Brant Jackson
21 – Nevada – SF Matt Anderson
22 – Boston – C Lars Morgan
23 – Miami – PG Brian Burks
24 – Milwaukee – C Charles Robinson
25 – San Antonio – SG LeDarion Bennett
26 – Boston – SG Denny Douglas
27 – Philadelphia – PG Shawn Reis
28 – Minnesota – C Joe Carter
29 – Philadelphia – PG Chris Osteen
30 – Philadelphia – C James Waters
31 – Portland – SF Greedy Wallace
32 – Phoenix – SG David Rolle

There were only a few trades worth talking about but they were quite important for the teams in the deals.

Toronto trade:
PF Cederic Thomas

Chicago trade:
C Ryan Wadley

Winner – Toronto. Sure Thomas is a good player that can do most things well but Wadley is a fantastic centre. He will never score many points for you but his rebounding, defence and shot blocking are in the top ten of the league’s big men.

Miami trade:
SF Keith Selden
2030 2nd round pick

Cleveland trade:
SG Ron Winston

Winner – Miami. Both players are too old to be a game changer but Winston has enough left in the tank to take some heat of Kenneth Long and Eryk Charnowski. Don’t expect him to shoot over 40% though.

Cleveland trade:
PG Donald Dent
C Taliek Dumic

Nevada trade:
C Dustin Harris
2030 2nd round pick

Winner – Nevada. Dent and Dumic are terrible players and they still won the deal as the Neon got rid of the ultimate cancer in Harris. Cleveland will be his ninth team in ten years which is just simply mind boggling.

Detroit trade:
C Marlon Haymon

Chicago trade:
SF Darrell Hampton

Winner – Detroit. Hampton might not be a good defender but he can do nearly everything else. Six out of his nine seasons in the league he has been named to an All NBA team and he will bring a great veteran presence to the Pistons.

Minnesota trade:
SG Adarrial Faye
C Francis Culuko

Detroit trade:
C Antonio Mims

Winner – Minnesota. Another player who can’t stick to one team because of his attitude, Faye is going onto his seventh team in six years. He is a good player (not as good as Mims) but his bullying and stand over tactics of his teammates make him a huge liability. With the addition of Mims the Wolves are now right at the top of the league in terms of title contenders. They do have six centres though.

As most of our money is tied up in four players (Ledaryl, Earl, T-Mac and Jack) I try and trim as much salary as I can elsewhere, so say goodbye to Ryan Robinson, Matt Wingfield, Bernard Crispin, Lonnie Moore, William Jones and Haven Roberson who have all been renounced.

We actually have some players going to summer league this year as Kresimir Balas and second round pick Tony Boythe are getting some burn.

We get beat in our first summer league game, going down 97-89 to Milwaukee as Kres has a nice night with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Tony Boythe wasn’t shy about shooting the ball, going 6/12 for 12 points in 17 minutes. Lavar Smith was the best for the Bucks with 18 points and 8 rebounds off the bench.

It’s a higher scoring game but the end result is the same as we lose again, this time to Detroit 118-108. Kres was again great with 18 points and 8 rebounds and I’m feeling pretty good about myself for picking him right now as ring-in Broderick Willis top scored for us with 20 points. #10 pick Jeremy Masic led the way for the Pistons with 28 points.

Now this... was ugly. We shot 41% from the field but somehow we did not shoot a free throw as the Knicks got some revenge with a 89-75 win at the Garden. Kres was again a standout with 16 points but the only other player in double figures was Travis McRae with a paltry ten. The Knicks weren’t much better, matching our 41% as Rod Ohanlon was the high man with 17 points and 8 rebounds.

This team really isn’t very good but that is to be expected as we lose our fourth in a row with a 97-82 shellacking by New Orleans. Tony Boythe was fantastic with 18 points and 9 rebounds in only 15 minutes but other than him the team was terrible.

Our last game of the summer league is unsurprisingly a 107-98 loss to Minnesota which puts us at 0-5 on the circuit. Kres was back to his best with 19 points and 7 rebounds as Tony Boythe only shot eight times in 17 minutes. Chris Benjamin was the standout in this game though with 25 points on 12/14 shooting in only 20 minutes.

Free agency has rolled around and the plan is to bulk up the bench and if we’re lucky we can steal a SG who is good enough to start.

Top ten free agents –

C Mark Lewis
C Schuyler Vanderwerken*
C Jerry Benton*
C Brian Benton*
SG Josh Jackson
SG Varlam Chavchavadze
PG Jamil Fleming*
PG Tate McKenzie
SG Michael Williams
SG Jason London*

As you can see, it’s a pretty damn good crop of off contract guys so look for some big spending.

Right off the bat I offer Chris Jones a four year MLE deal which is massively underpaying but if we can snatch The Wizard it will be huge.

After a few days snoozing the whole NBA world is shaken as a massive part of the Philadelphia championship team, Jamil Fleming, has decided to jump ship and sign an offer sheet with Cleveland and if the Sixers don’t match (which they should) that Cavs team just got scary.

The next day Dave Coulter signs an offer sheet with New York for over $10 million a year which is probably too much for him but right now the Knicks need all the help they can get. Jones is still mulling our offer over.

In a move everyone saw coming, Shoo re-signs with Denver for a five year max deal. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa? Philly don’t match the Cavs’ offer for Jamil Fleming and he is officially a Cavalier. Stupid, stupid move by the Sixers.

The Hornets just went big as not only did they re-sign Jerry Benton they poached Mark Lewis on a four year contract. Huge steal by the Hornets and if Benton and Lewis can play side by side, watch out. Chav-chav, Brian Benton, Tim Greenberg and John Kelly all re-signed with their respective teams.

On a day when a few players re-signed Josh Jackson went to Sacramento in a deal which is overpaying as I never liked Jackson but Milwaukee got a steal in signing Darren Banks to a four year deal worth $38.9 million.

Tender offer acceptance day comes and goes with most of my SG options going back to their teams for one more year which sucks for me as my list is dwindling rapidly. I wish Chris Jones would make up his mind quickly as it would be a blow to us if he never really thought he would sign here.

Arrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhh! Stupid Chris Jones! So not only did he stuff us around and sign a 4 year, $40 million deal with Phoenix (so did Joey Thunell), practically keeping us out of the race for anyone else even though he was never going to sign here he robbed us of a chance of going at Cedric Watson who signed with San Diego. Damn you Chris Jones. I redistribute the MLE to PG Tate McKenzie who is an amazing defender and will help us out immensely.

McKenzie is over the moon that we reached out to him and signs the next day, giving us our second T-Mac. Jason Allen and ancient Anthony Davis also sign here.

The next day Lamoni Daniels and my old draftee Brandon Anderer sign here and that makes 15 players and we’re done.

Training camp comes and goes and because we only have one player under the age of 25 years old he is the one I’m interested in. Kresimir Balas looks really good, so much that instead of sending him down to the D-League like I was going to I’m thinking that he has earned his spot on the roster, even if that spot is eleventh man. If he doesn’t get any minutes early in the season I’ll send him down but right now he deserves to play here.

Eastern Conference Pre-Season Standings
1 – Memphis Grizzlies
2 – Miami Heat
3 – Brooklyn Nets
4 – Boston Celtics
5 – New Orleans Hornets
Last – Orlando Magic

How the hell aren’t Cleveland up in the top five? Not only do they have Art Stevenson but also picked up a Carlsson brother AND Jamil Fleming! Preposterous. Also, Memphis should not be anywhere near number one.

Western Conference Pre-Season Standings
1 – Portland Trailblazers
2 – Minnesota Timberwolves
3 – Dallas Mavericks
4 – Denver Nuggets
5 – Los Angeles Lakers
Last – Utah Jazz

Yep, without Mark Lewis that Jazz team is lost. It’s not going to be pretty. The usual suspects are up the top as the conference will be battled between Portland, Minny and us.

Our first game of the season was a comfortable 111-92 blowout of the Nets as Ledaryl picked up where he left off last season with 32 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Terry McKenzie or Big T now there is two T-Mac’s had 31 points and 12 rebounds to help out. Lars Ray and Chris Canal both had 20 points but when we outscore Brooklyn 28-17 in the first quarter it’s not going to be much of a game.

Dallas Mavericks 1-0

Another game another 30 point performance by the Buzzsaw, this time he put up 39 points and 9 assists as we smash the Pistons 77-42 in the second half to roll again 131-89. Big T was again the helper with 28 points and 6 rebounds as Jason Allen got the start at SG tonight and held Adarrial Faye to only 4/17 shooting. Good night for him.

Dallas Mavericks 2-0

What. A. Game. I don’t really want to write this up because I won’t do it justice so I’ll just show you. WOW.

Image

Dallas Mavericks 3-0

This team is on an absolute tear as we demolish the newly formed Cavs, shooting 56% from the field for a 147-109 win. The Buzzsaw had his way with Jamil Fleming with 34 points as six other Maverick players were in double figures. Art Stevenson showed what he can really do with 26 points and 9 rebounds on 13/17 shooting while Oskar Carlsson had a strange game with 0 points on zero shots, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 blocks. He didn’t attempt a shot! I guess the reports of his horrible offensive game are real.

Dallas Mavericks 4-0

A night I’ll never forget as Ledaryl “The Buzzsaw” McMillian went 24/30 for 56 points and 7 assists to beat Orlando by himself as we torch the winless Magic 139-89. Sure there were other players on the court but no-one really cared with Ledaryl going at it. Kyle Vickers led the way for the Magic with 17 points but they weren’t in the game at all.

Dallas Mavericks 5-0

In Magnus Carlsson’s second ever game the Swede put on a show. Going 19/30 from the field, 10/17 from three and 16/16 from the line the elder twin scored 64 points in the Warriors’ 141-130 win over Milwaukee. This guy is so good, it’s strange that he never came over before now.

Ledaryl McMillian had 26 points and 15 assists, five other Dallas players were in double figures and even Kres had a go with 13 points on 6/6 shooting in only four minutes (!) but the real star of our 138-111 win over Washington was Jason Allen who went 11/16 for 31 points. Seven Washington players were in double figures but their highest scorer was Rowan Taylor with only 15 points.

Dallas Mavericks 6-0

We keep the ball rolling on the back of a whole team effort as eight of our players were in double figures with five of them coming off the bench led by Earl Oliver’s 15 points. The score would be nice, as we snuff out the Raptors 138-83 as not only are we shooting well (138.7 ppg, 58.0%) we are holding our opponents to low shooting percentages (97.4 ppg, 41.7%).

Dalals Mavericks 7-0

The Knicks are actually playing well this season so far at 5-3 and they gave us a hell of a fright as a 20 point fourth quarter lead dwindled to a six point fourth quarter lead before we steadied for a 111-104 win. Earl Oliver went 8/8 from the field for 20 points as Jack had a shocker, 3/21 from the field and four turnovers. Marquis Bowen top scored in the game with 27 points as our old friend Julius Hobbs added 17 points and 18 rebounds.

Dallas Mavericks 8-0

That’s better from our superstar captain as Jack missed one field goal (9/10), one three pointer (1/2) and one free throw (14/15) for 33 points and 6 assists as we smashed the Lakers 110-78 and this team is on fire. Ledaryl helped out where he could with 16 points in 19 minutes but was hampered by fouls. Michael Taylor was the reason with 23 points and 6 assists.

Dallas Mavericks 9-0

I keep meaning to send Kres down to the D-League as he is only averaging 7.1 minutes per game but then I see he is averaging 6.7 points per contest on 82% shooting and I think he deserves a little longer in the pros.

We make it ten wins in a row with an easy 108-89 brushing past of Miami as Ledaryl McMillian and Jack Dawkins, our two best players, combined for 46 points, 19 rebounds, 14 assists and 9 steals in the win just to show how good they really are together. Kenneth Long is still starting at PG which is stupid as even though he had 30 points he went 11/26 from the field and only had three assists.

Dallas Mavericks 10-0

This team is clicking like crazy as it was Big T’s turn to light up our opposition with 37 points and 9 rebounds to take the game 120-104 as it wasn’t as close as the final score shows. Danny Perez didn’t embarrass himself against Big T with 32 points but we just had too much too early for the Suns.

Dallas Mavericks 11-0

I send Kres down to the D-League and sign ancient Andre Drummond back to his proper home. It’s great to have you back AD.

Ledaryl McMillian had 28 points and Big T added the textbook big man stat line with 20 points and 10 rebounds as we make it an even dozen to start the season by beating San Antonio 102-92. It’s good to have some guys like Jason Allen and Lamoni Daniels because they don’t have to worry about scoring, just playing good defence and the points will come from elsewhere. Cederic Thomas, a new addition to the Spurs, had 30 points and 12 rebounds but the team shot 40% from the field.

Dallas Mavericks 12-0

Jack, Big T and Ledaryl were the leaders in minutes with 29 which should be a good signpost of how badly we beat the Spurs as everyone on our squad scored three points or more as our largest lead was 59 points to demoralise San Antonio 121-66. We won every single statistical category as Ledaryl led us with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

Dallas Mavericks 13-0

That’s another game where our biggest lead was over 50 points as Big T had 26 points and Earl added 22 points in 19 minutes off the bench to smash the Rockets 135-79. This was a better all around game as we held Houston to 36% shooting as everyone had at least six points this time.

Dallas Mavericks 14-0

Jack may be the heart of this team but there is no doubting that Ledaryl is the superstar that makes this team great as tonight in our 121-101 win over San Diego The Buzzsaw put up 29 points on 13/17 shots as well as 9 assists, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 steals and 0 turnovers. MVP calibre game right there. Jack and Big T added 48 points and 15 rebounds as well. Chad Gaines was the best for the Riders with 20 points and 10 rebounds but Luke Owens went 0/9 from the field and Murray Cornette added seven turnovers in the loss.

Dallas Mavericks 15-0

The Nuggets are no joke and they showed it by beating us on our own court 125-114 to snap our perfect start. Jason London was the high man with 25 points while Jehiel DeSantis was the star with 18 points, 14 assists and held The Buzzsaw to only 14 points and 10 assists. Big T was our best with 32 points but when a team hits 15 three pointers it’s hard to keep up. Interesting note, Anthony Davis started at centre for us which means that coach Garnett is losing faith in Tyson Joyner.

Dallas Mavericks 15-1

It’s back to business two nights later as we take care of the improved Grizzlies 125-110 to cap off a nearly flawless month. Ledaryl McMillian had 31 points and 10 assists, Jack Dawkins added 23 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds while Earl Oliver and Jason Allen are making a dynamic duo as Earl had 22 points while Allen held Danny McArdle to only 4/11 shooting. Joe Curry was the best for Memphis with 21 points and 9 rebounds as Cort Majishun was held to only 15 points and 8 assists.

Dallas Mavericks 16-1

As you would expect we are leading the conference and the league at 16-1 but Minnesota (10-3) and OKC (6-2) are right on our tails. Seattle are down the bottom at 4-12 and honestly they have been treading water for a while now and it’s probably a good thing that they are bottoming out.

I said the Grizzlies are improved this season but you would never have imagined that right now they are the best team in the East at 14-6. To be fair, Philly and Atlanta have lost less games but are at 8-4 and 6-3 respectively so the sheer amount of games the Grizz have played put them on top. Still, that’s great news for the frustrated Memphis fans. Orlando have definitely bottomed out and many supporters are still fuming about missing out on a Carlsson brother and are at 2-16 so far.

November Player of the Month – Enrique Mendez, Minnesota Timberwolves – 34.7 points, 4.8 assists, 7.6 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 2.2 blocks per game.

November Rookie of the Month – Magnus Carlsson, Golden State Warriors – 39.7 points, 0.8 assists, 3.6 rebounds, 0.1 steals and 0.0 blocks per game.

Our superstars are simply amazing together as Jack and Ledaryl combined for 72 points, 23 rebounds and 15 assists to obliterate the Bucks 119-95. Jeffrey Womack went 8/8 from the field for 20 points in 19 minutes to give Milwaukee a fighting chance that never happened.

Dallas Mavericks 17-1

Jack and Ledaryl continued their fine form with 58 points and 18 assists as we brushed past the Sonics 133-117 as the team shot 60% from the field. I’m getting a little worried that Tate McKenzie (Little T) is playing little minutes even in blow outs. Maybe Coach Garnett can play him at SG for a bit. Alfons Dietz was the best for Seattle with 25 points and 8 assists.

Dallas Mavericks 18-1

Minnesota led after one quarter as Enrique Mendez went off but after that it was all Dallas, winning the second quarter by a whopping 42-15 margin as we top the 150 mark again with a 153-107 away win. The Buzzsaw is running wild, going 12/15 for 35 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds as Little T played 17 minutes tonight, the most he has played all season for 14 points and 5 assists. Mendez had 19 points but only played 18 minutes before of foul trouble.

Dallas Mavericks 19-1

One of my Dallas teams has the best record for a season ever and there might be a new Dallas team with that mark as we win again, this time in Detroit 139-107. Ledaryl is simply the best player in the league right now with 32 points, 14 assists and 9 rebounds as Captain Jack and Big T combined for 46 points and 24 rebounds. Adarrial Faye was the best for the Pistons with 17 points but this team is clicking like crazy.

Dallas Mavericks 20-1

We’re leading the league in Team PPG (127.1) and Opponent PPG (97.9) which gives us a winning margin a nearly 30 points! Inconceivable!

The Timberwolves try and get some revenge as Enrique Mendez actually stays on the court for 32 points and 7 turnovers but it’s still a Dallas win as we hold our nerve for a 117-112 win. Little T is now starting at SG which is a bit strange as he is only 5’11”, 178lbs but who am I to doubt a coach who has his team at 21-1. Of course Ledaryl was our leader with 31 points and 7 assists while Lamoni Daniels and Corry Hackworth added 23 points off the bench.

Dallas Mavericks 21-1

Big T had 22 points and 16 rebounds, Jack added 22 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds as the Mavericks win again, this time routing Chicago 123-80. It was our defense which won the game for us as we held the Bulls to only 42% from the field with JD Lawson leading the way with 16 points and 6 turnovers.

Dallas Mavericks 22-1

18/29 FG, 4/6 3P and 10/14 FT equates to an even 50 points (and 9 rebounds) as Ledaryl dismantles Seattle to the tune of a 133-89 smashing. Our starters play a bit too much for a game over in the third quarter but who cares when the Buzzsaw gets a half century. Marlo Graham put up 17 points in 19 minutes for the Sonics.

Dallas Mavericks 23-1

The two T-Macs couldn’t have had more different games as Big T put up 37 points and 13 rebounds while Llittle T went 0/10 from the field for only 2 points as we win again, our ninth in a row, with a 116-92 away win over Houston. All of the Rockets’ starters were in double figures but when Big T, Jack and Ledaryl combined for 90 points it’s hard to win for Houston.

Dallas Mavericks 24-1

I feel like a broken record as I again say that Ledaryl was our best with 33 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists and again say that we (by a lot) as we take the first of a home and home against OKC 130-104. Jack added 31 points while Tyson Joyner pops up with 6 points and 12 rebounds. Mike Bickerstaf had his best game against us with 28 points but they couldn’t get close.

Dallas Mavericks 25-1

It’s off to Oklahoma City and as usual we get out to a 17 point lead in the third term as Ledaryl put up 41 points for another quality performance. After that it all went wrong as the Thunder rattled off a 38-27 last quarter to hand us our second loss of the season with a 114-111 scoreline. Mike Bickerstaf was spectacular with 34 points and 9 rebounds as Victor Brinker matched him with 34 points and 9 rebounds as well.

Dallas Mavericks 25-2

Huh? We lost again? That’s right as Kevin Epps turns up the heat with a 22 point, 12 assist, 11 rebound triple double as we go down to the Blazers 116-106 for our first losing streak of the season. Tiburcio Tommasini had 25 points and 9 rebounds while Marcus Randle seems to like it better in Portland with 22 points. Jack was our best with 28 points and 10 rebounds while Little T had another poor shooting night, going 0/2 for 0 points and 8 rebounds in the loss.

Dallas Mavericks 25-3

That’s better from Little T as he went 6/12 for 15 points and 9 rebounds as we snap our streak with a 121-81 win over the poor Toronto outfit. Our starters were all over 12 points while Jason Allen isn’t sulking now on the bench with 12 points in 14 minutes. Matias Perez is pretty much the only decent player on this Raptor squad and tonight had 20 points in the loss.

Dallas Mavericks 26-3

Ledaryl does his team thing with 23 points and 11 assists as Little T and Big T were magnificent as we take care of the Spurs 129-95. The two T-Macs combined for 38 points, 23 rebounds and 9 assists and I’m really happy seeing Little T in the starting line-up. Cederic Thomas had 16 points for the losers as they were pummelled in the second term 43-19 to blow the game out.

Dallas Mavericks 27-3

In one of the highest scoring games of the season, both teams were over 52% on the game as we sneak out a 137-126 win over the dogged Hornets. Ledaryl went at Chad Carney with a venom as he did not see eye to eye with Carney when they were both at Golden State with 38 points. Carney didn’t back down with 25 points and 6 assists and at one stage both players had to be separated after some pushing. Jack might have gone 4/16 from the field but hit all of his 19 free throws on his way to 28 points and 10 assists while Jerry Benton was New Orleans’ best with 27 points. Mark Lewis only had 16 points and 7 rebounds as he was kept quiet by Tyson Joyner.

Dallas Mavericks 28-3

Our last game for 2030 is another loss as we lose the fight against Denver 110-108 as we just didn’t have the legs. Jason London still doesn’t want to be in Denver but he is a true professional and tonight had 40 points. Jehiel DeSantis was his helper with 18 points and 10 assists. Ledaryl was held to 9/22 shooting for 29 points and 9 assists as Jack added 21 points and 10 rebounds. Honestly we should have won this game, letting a small brain fade in the last five minutes doom us.

Dallas Mavericks 28-4

Oh no we lost a whopping three games this month! Heh, I’m not worried as we still have a comfortable four game lead over Denver, Portland, San Diego, Oklahoma City and Minnesota who have eight losses each. Tough conference. Phoenix are down the bottom at 9-22 and haven’t been that bad, just bad away from the desert as they are 7-9 at home and 2-13 away.

The East is stupidly close so far because there is only five games separating first and eighth at the moment with Miami at the top and Boston in the last playoff spot. Orlando are nowhere near any of that at 3-33 and could go close to the worst record for a season.

December Player of the Month – Magnus Carlsson, Golden State Warriors – 42.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.0 blocks per game.

December Rookie of the Month – Magnus Carlsson, Golden State Warriors – 42.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.0 blocks per game.

I think this is the first time in my tenure that a rookie has won a player of the month award. Congrats Mangus.

Our first game of the new year is a 123-111 win over Sacramento as we just couldn’t put them away until right at the end. Ledaryl shot badly for 28 points and 12 assists as Anthony Davis filled in for Tyson Joyner with 8 points and 10 rebounds. It was great for us to limit Jaymes Kincaid to only 3/13 shooting for 8 points and 6 turnovers as Quinn Kelly led the way with 24 points for the losers.

Dallas Mavericks 29-4

The Wolves just won’t go away as we seem to play them every week. They pounced on a poor shooting night from everyone on our side to snatch a 100-89 win in Dallas. Enrique Mendez had 28 points and Robert Williams added 23 points and 12 rebounds but I’m happy that Camah Williams can never get going against us with only 8 points and 6 assists.

Dallas Mavericks 29-5

We didn’t let that loss linger as we obliterated the Neon 134-77 behind Ledaryl’s 48 points on 21/33 shooting. That’s right, he took 33 shots in 32 minutes, talk about a work out. Ryan Garris was the high man for Nevada with 18 points but we had a 20 point lead after the first break and then it was party time.

Dallas Mavericks 30-5

Sure Ledaryl had 27 points and Jack added 25 of his own but Big T’s night topped them all as we tear through the Mark Lewis-less Jazz 116-86. T-Mac went 13/14 for 26 points and 8 rebounds as his only missed shot was the first one of the game; he went 13/13 after that. Nathaniel Jackson, the guy I panned for being super lazy on draft day, had 28 points and 10 rebounds and is really stepping up in the absence of Lewis averaging 23 points and 8 rebounds a game on the season.

Dallas Mavericks 31-5

I don’t know how many Hell Weeks we have had but it’s time for another one, and first up is the improved Cavs. And boy did we smash them, taking every quarter to win 131-89. Jack had 30 points, Big T added 24 points and 13 rebounds, Little T put up 22 points and 9 assists while The Buzzsaw was fifth in line with 22 points and 11 assists. This game was over before it started as Jamil Fleming had a tough night shooting, going 9/23 for 22 points and Oskar Carlsson had another goose egg with 0 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Art Stevenson was average with only 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Dallas Mavericks 32-5

**TRADE**

Phoenix trade:
PG Tim Westbrooks

Charlotte trade:
SG Charles Gaines
2031 2nd round pick

Winner – Phoenix. I don’t know what went wrong with Westbrooks as he was a star a couple of years ago at Phoenix, averaging 18 points and 6 assists but then once Earl Harris came aboard his stock plummeted. The Suns win because of Chris Jones’ injury has put them in the market for another SG to help pick up the slack.

Good news and bad news in our 115-93 win over Seattle as the Buzzsaw rips for 34 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals but pulled up sore after the game and was diagnosed with back spasms. He’ll still play but at a greatly reduced state. Little T was amazing and is looking really comfortable at SG with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Eleven rebounds for a 5’11” guy is pretty damn good. Marlo Graham was the only standout for the Sonics with 26 points as star draftee Reggie Smith had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Dallas Mavericks 33-5

It seems to be a three way battle for the best team in the West with us, Portland and Minnesota battling (with us at the top). It was a close game against Portland as both teams had a double digit lead but luckily for us we had it at the right time, winning the game 119-111. Earl Oliver stood up as Ledaryl had a tough time with his injury with 34 points and 8 rebounds off the bench as Ledaryl only played 28 minutes. Tobe Slaughter isn’t starting for some reason but that didn’t stop him from scoring 24 points in 23 minutes off the bench to lead the Blazers.

Dallas Mavericks 34-5

Even though Big T only had 15 points he did shoot 7/9 from the field and added 11 rebounds and 4 blocks as we smash the woeful Bobcats 113-85 at home. Ledaryl is still hurting and Earl is still backing him up with 18 points to go with Little T’s 5 assists. James Blakemore had 16 points for Charlotte but for some reason Tim Westbrooks only had 10 minutes to play with.

Dallas Mavericks 35-5

Do you remember the last time we went to Portland and lost and Kevin Epps had a triple double? Guess what happened again? It seems that Kevin Epps would love to play us 82 times a season as he had 29 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists while Tiburcio Tommasini led the way with 31 points as Portland beat us again 115-104. Jack had 26 points and 8 assists and Little T added 10 points, 14 assists and 9 rebounds but it just goes to show when the battle is there to be won we need a healthy Ledaryl McMillian to get us there, and he only had 11 points and 2 assists in this game.

Dallas Mavericks 35-6

Just like the other times we lost a close game we came out firing and smashed the Bucks 126-107. Big T had 22 points and 10 rebounds but it was Tyson Joyner who held his head up with 14 points and 14 rebounds to finally gives us a showing of his skills. He’s been good but with the superstars on this team he has blended into the background for most of the season. Darren Banks took advantage of a 3/15 night from Ledaryl with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the way for Milwaukee.

Dallas Mavericks 36-6

Our last game of this year’s Hell Week is an interesting 133-124 win as we got out to a 25 point lead before the Kings came back and back and back until time finally ran out. I’m sure if they had five more minutes they would have run us over. Jack was our best with 25 points and 8 rebounds as six other Mavericks were in double digits as Anthony Davis led the second unit with 19 points. Josh Jackson had 31 points and 9 assists for Sac-Town but Jaymes Kincaid went 8/25 for a very inefficient 23 points.

Dallas Mavericks 37-6

Hooray! We have a healthy Buzzsaw and he was revving for a fight. He may have shot badly (12/32) but he did score 36 points and didn’t look like his back troubled him at all. With a healthy Ledaryl we took care of a very good Philadelphia side 134-124. The Sixers are doing just fine without Jamil Fleming and had 22 points from Jamaal Lewis and 21 points and 12 rebounds from Jared Arenas.

Dallas Mavericks 38-6

Two losses this month as we are kicking goals in the West but San Diego of all teams are right behind us still at 30-9 with Portland three games behind them. I never would have thought the Riders were the second best team here. Nevada have had their bottom drop out of them, hitting the ground hard at 11-34.

The East has a lot of good teams but none that are on the level of us/San Diego/Portland as Miami are the leaders at 29-14. New Orleans, Washington, Philadelphia and Memphis are all in striking distance of the top seed which will make the rest of the season exciting. Orlando aren’t exciting though at 6-43 are way back from anyone.

Second Round of NBA Draft Prospects –
1. (1) SG Cliff Havens (Temple), Freshman, 6’5”, 196lbs
2. (2) PF Mark Lyday (Arkansas), Freshman, 6’8”, 245lbs
3. (NR) C Neil Prato (Miami (OH)), Junior, 6’11”, 260lbs
4. (3) SF Padorin Ivelitsch (Russia), 19 years old, 6’9”, 210lbs
5. (NR) C David Stetson (West Virginia), Sophomore, 6’9”, 262lbs

Thoughts – Havens seems to be improving almost daily and by the end of the season he might even snatch the number one pick from Lyday who should go first in the draft. “Pad” Ivelitsch is very similar to Enrique Mendez so it will be interesting to see if teams make the same mistakes when Mendez slid to number seven in the draft.

It certainly looks like the Carlsson twins are for real. Maybe the NBA will have to expand to Stockholm.

As you may have guessed, I put all of Magnus' offensive ratings as high as anyone in the league but put his defensive ratings as low as possible and the opposite for Oskar. I have never really done this before but I find it interesting to see the two sides of basketball as extreme as this. Magnus' drives stopped percentage is .018, he stops 0.2 drives per game and faces 9.2 which is horrible. Even Earl Oliver who is notoriously bad a defence has a stop% of .200.
