We know that TCU will keep the score down. Our defense must simply be better than theirs. Case closed.
Which we did. Our challenge to the Horny Toads in the 2nd half is: since you are so dedicated to taking 30 seconds off the shot clock every time downcourt, try out-scoring us by 16 in the 2nd half. At the half we lead by 15, 40-25.
Apparently, with TCU having no chance of getting back into the game on their own, the Commissioner's office called down to the ref's locker room and told them to join the Frogs in the 2nd half. Didn't really matter. Playing 5 on 8 the entire second half couldn't over come the fact that the Frogs can't score. We win by 8 and it was never ever that close. If this crew calls any of the rest of the games we play in this tournament, I may well get ejected however. They were a disgrace and I filed a formal complaint with the league office
14 straight, 8 more to go.
Wilson had a lackluster game, partially because of the poor officiating in the 2nd half.. he winds up scoreless, with 4 asts, but 3 turnovers in 27 minutes.
Martin had 13 pts, 3 rebs.
Stetson had 4 pts, 2 stls, and as usual played better than his line. Played fewer minutes in this one than usual (17) largely because of Larry Guy's play off the bench
Mad Dog had himself a championship caliber game with 12 pts, 8 rebs, 4 stls and "no no, you can't do that" defense on the defensive end.
Jackson had maybe his best defensive game of the season with only 3 pts, but 8 rebs, 3 blks, and 3 stls. He and Mad Dog made sure that when the Frogs took 30 seconds off the clock to take a shot, it wasn't gonna be an easy one, and they weren't getting the ball back when it missed.
Off the bench, Taylor was limited to 13 minutes because of 3 phantom calls early in the 2nd half, but held reign over the court while in the game with a team high 14 pts and 4 rebs. Excellent play off the bench again by Durham, Guy(4 asts, 4 stls and "get out of my face" defense), Tatum(6 pts, 4 rebs, 2 stls....good to see Steve getting over the freshman wall the last couple of games), and Conley (6 pts, 4 asts in just 13 minutes)
Final:
