Apr 9: Indiana approaches me about coaching their program, and although I'm flattered, I've got more to do here yet, and have no intention of leaving.

Apr 16: Tending to details, I lock down all my assistants for another 2 years, giving slight raises to Chris King and Kiwane Spence to keep them around.

Apr 30: The University approves another budget increase for next season. Coming here was the smartest decision I ever made.

May 1: After a brief vacation it's time to get back to work. Incidentally, I guess you can say that Jerry Tarkanian is now an official friend of the family. A couple of weeks after the tournament he flew over to Albuquerque to spend some time with me talking X's and O's and to give more advice on the Amoeba zone....and to take my mom out to dinner a few times. I'm not sure what all they have in common, but she seems happy with their friendship, and I'm not going to knock it.

Jeremy and I sit down to discuss our recruiting needs for the coming season and to hammer out our strategy. With Johnson and Jackson graduating this year, some big post help is a priority, along with another point guard. We'll probably use our 4th scholarship to go after a swingman. We'll splurge again for the gold star national report and hope that the remaining 35k in our budget will be enough to get the job done.

ooc: a four star walk-on. this is the kind of thing I hope happens a lot less often in CB3...you can't pretend ALL of those guys are recruited walk-ons! I usually put them at the end of the bench regardless of their ratings and make them earn minutes in the exhibitions and in late game blowout situations. Every once in a while one forces their way into the rotation, but I don't make it easy for them

July 25: We'd like to go to the Elite camp in Indy this year, but Jeremy and I both agree the money is better off saved. We'll certainly be recruiting nationally, and with all that travel, every dime counts. I tell little Ed, our A.D., to work the same magic he did last year to get all those ranked teams to come to the Pit! We owe a lot of very good teams return games though, so this season's schedule could even be scarier than last year's....

July 4: the nation's top ranked recruit agreed to visit us last week, but I don't think we have a realistic shot at him. With our success and the conference's success last year though, we do have a lot of interest from big name recruits nationally, so hopefully we'll find a flock of them that will sign.
