3/7: We play #9 seed Dayton, 12-16, 8-10, in the quarters. They won by 11 there, we won by 25 at our place. We’re favored by 3 ½.

3/8: 78-65. 20, 7 for Spur, 15, 12 for Hays, 10, 10 for Walk. +10 RBs, 9 TOs.

#5 seed VCU, 20-11, 10-8, in the semis. Beat them by 13 at home, 2 ½ point fav.

3/9: 102-95. This was a real shootout. 28, 7, 4 for Spur, 29, 4 for Hays, 12, 10, 4 for Walk. +9 RBs, but -10 TOs.

#3 seed UMass, 18-12, 11-7, for the title. Beta them by 14 then lost by 10. We’re favored by 3 ½.

3/10: 61-69. We couldn’t get anything going on ), especially in the 2nd half when we scored only 26. 20, 15 for Spur but he didn’t get much help.

26-5, #19, RPI #27. We were hoping for a #4 or so if we won the tourney but now we’re probably going to be a #7 or so.

3/12: #6 South. We face #11 Marshall, 24-9. We’re favored by 1 ½.

3/17: 74-73. Whew! We were down by 11 with 7:42 to play. We came back. The lead changed three times in the last minute. We won it when Ben Spur blocked a shot with less than a second to play after he had scored on the other end. He led us with 15 and 8. PG Mel Coll had 16, 3, 5. +8 TOs but it was a sloppy game for both teams.

#3 seed, #12 ranked Florida, 23-8, in the 2nd round. This is going to be VERY tough.

3/19: 83-59. We simply could not have played any better. Great win! 28 for Vic Walk, 9, 10, 6 for Spur, and good work by 8 guys, especially on D.

We’re in our 1st Sweet Sixteen vs. #2 seed, #7 ranked Butler, 27-6. They’re favored, but only by 1 ½. We need to stop their outside game.

3/24: 102-85. Another terrific game! Very different from the last game in that this was a shootout and we brought more bullets. Spur led us with 22 and 10, Coll had 16, 7,
7, and 4 others had 10 or more. +11 RBs, only 9 TOs.

We’re in the Elite Eight! We play #1 seed, #2 ranked Louisville, 30-5. We’ve climbed lots of hills in this tournament, but this is a mountain.

3/26: 86-99. We did fine on O but we just couldn’t stop their attack. Foul trouble for Spur and Walk didn’t help. 30 for Walk, but they doubled Spur and shut him down.

Great run though.

4/3: #6 Duke is the champ.

4/4: Awards: Senior Ben Spur is A 10 POY, Def. POY, 1st team along with senior Jon Hays. Junior Vic Walk made the 2nd team. I am COY.

4/23: I ask for a facilities upgrade. Got it. C+ to B+.

29-6, #19, RPI #27. +10.1 PPG (#36, #41), +3.1 RBs, +5.3 TOs.

After 3 seasons: 29-6, 73-25, .745. #19, RPI #27. +10.1 PPG (#36, #41).

5/1: #41 recruiting class. National basic.

6/5: One slot for a transfer.

6/12: We get a good looking forward from Clemson.

6/26: 3 scholarships. We need big guys.

8/21: I offer to a PG and 2 Cs.

9/18: We get a C, #39, lose one.

Golden ST Classic vs. Arizona.

9/25: We get a PG, #64, lose a big.

10/2: We get a PF, #38.

1st day of practice. We’re picked to win the A 10.

11/6: 8 man rotation:

Senior Mel Coll starts at PG. Juco junior Lee Dare is at SG. Senior Ben Hoge subs at both guard spots.

Frosh Noel Morr starts at SF, subs at PF. Frosh Bo Coar and junior Con Cann sub at SF.

Soph Mike Swye, a transfer from Wake Forest, starts at PF, subs at C.

Senior Vic Walk starts at C. Walk has played a lot at SF and some at PF in past seasons. He is a natural PF, but he's versatile.

11/20: 2-0. Ranked #24.

All 3 recruits sign.

12/8: 5-1, RPI #158. Our only loss was on the road by one point, but it was to a lousy team.

Headed for the Golden ST vs. 5-2 Arizona. They’re the #3 seed, we’re #6.

12/9: 81-61. 20 for SG Lee Dare, 16, 9 for C Vic Walk, 12, 16 for PF Mike Swye, 15, 1, 9 for PG Mel Coll. +21 RBs.

#2 seed, #25 ranked Syracuse, 5-2, in the semis. They’re terrific outside and they’re a big favorite.

12/10: 64-73. We stayed close most of the way, but both of our starting guards fouled out, and that did us in.

12/25: 8-2, RPI #32. +13.5 PPG (#78, #26), +10.8 RBs, +4.1 TOs.

1/29/2023: 18-2, 10-0, #18, RPI #23. +18.5 PPG (#22, #6), +10.5 RBs, +5.9 TOs. 2 game lead in the A 10. We’re playing well. 7 man rotation and all 7 are playing well on both ends.

2/26: We end the regular season 26-3, 18-0, #6, RPI #18. +18.7 PPG (#15, #3), +10.0 RBs, +5.4 TOs. We win the A 10 by 5 games.

3/7: We play #8 seed Fordham, 10-18, 8-10. We crushed them twice.

3/8: 87-68. Never a game. 5 guys scored 12 or more.

#4 seed ST Bonnie, 19-11, 11-7, in the semis. We won by 14 there.

3/9: 77-54. And again, it was never a game. 23 for Dare, 17, 11 for Walk. +13 RBs.

We play #7 seed Dayton, 16-14, 10-8, for the title. Beat them by 37.

3/10: 72-62 and the title. They led by as many as 13 early, and by 4 at the half. But we took over in the 2nd half. 18, 23 for Mike Swye.

29-3, A 10 title, ##6, RPI #15. We’re hoping for a #3 or a #4 seed, and that seems reasonable.

3/12: #4 Midwest. We play #13 Iona, 20-10.

3/16: 88-63. 29, 17 for Swye. Good guard play.

#5 seed, #21 ranked Temple, 23-9, in the 2nd round. They’re a good team and we’re only favored by ½ point.

3/18: 70-74. It was close all the way. Swye fouled out late and 2 other starters had 4 fouls, and that hurt us. +11 RBs, +5 TOs, but we shot 30.3%, and they went to the line
41 times, we went 13.

4/3: #2 GA Tech is the champ.

4/4: Awards: Soph PF Mike Swye is A10 POY, Def. POY, and 1st team along with senior Vic Walk and junior Lee Dare. I am COY.

4/23: I ask for a facilities upgrade. No.

30-4, #5, RPI #14, +18.0 PPG #16, #2. I love that we’re #2, and that makes some sense given that 75% of our time is spent on D. But how TF are we #16 on O?

After 4 seasons, 30-4, 103-29, .780, #5, RPI #14, +18.0 PPG #16, #2.

5/1: Only one incoming frosh (2 Jucos) so recruiting class #161.

Season 5 so no recruiting, no transfers.

8/7: Guard Lee Dare is #40 on the Norton list.

9/18: Hawaiian Shootout vs. Kansas ST.

10/2: 1st day of practice. We’re picked to win the A 10.

11/6: PG, SG, SF still unsettled. 8 man rotation:

Juco junior Jeff Bonn starts at PG. Junior Jib Days subs there and is fighting for the starting spot.

Senior Lee Dare is at SG. Senior Mat Owen subs at SG and SF.

Soph Noel Morr starts at SF.

Junior Mike Swye starts at PF, subs at C. Frosh Loy Till subs at PF.

Juco junior Bart Robb is at C. Expect changes to the lineup.

11/17: 1-0. Headed for the Hawaiian Shootout vs. 0-1 Kansas ST. They’re the #3 seed, we’re #6.

11/18: 83-68. 18, 13 for C Bart Robb, 20 for 6th man Mat Owen, 13 each for guards Lee Dare and Jeff Bonn. +18 RBs.

#2 seed Auburn, 2-0, in the semis. We’re favored by 2 ½.

11/19: 90-66. We played a great game. 16, 18 for Mike Swye, 20, 10 for Robb, 15, 4, 7 for Bonn, 18 for Dare.

I like this team but we have a huge test next, #1 seed, #3 ranked defending national champ GA Tech. They are heavily favored.

11/20: 70-67 and the title. HUGE win. We led most of the way, by as many as 16. The final was as close as it got in the last 10 minutes but they had the last possession. SG Lee Dare got out and blocked a three with less than a second to play. He led us with 17. 14, 14 for Swye, 14 for Owen.

We were ranked #14 before the win.

12/25: 11-0, #10, RPI #7. +17.0 PPG (#49, #14), +15.1 RBs, +5.9 TOs. We look to be the real thing.
