Where did I get this info on DDSPF?

Where did I get this info on DDSPF?

I have had this document for several years that has some interesting reference material about DDSPF, particularly ratings. I am trying to remember where this came from, so I can verify the accuracy of the material as it pertains to DDSPF '20. There is one section that is really cool as it lists, in order of importance, the key ratings for each position. This is the kind of stuff thats in this document, very interesting analysis of the game that isn't usually discussed on the general boards. Perhaps its from a league source? If so, should we try to reference some of the info various online leagues may have captured/figured out after running many seasons to make the game as realistic as possible?
Here is a few lines from that section-

PRIORITY BY POSITION
Pos. - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th (not everyone has a 6th)
QB - Arm, Accuracy, Speed, Agility, Strength
RB - Speed, Agility, Hands, Strength, Pass Block, Run Block
FB - Strength, Speed, Hands, Run Block, Pass Block, Agility
OT - Pass Block, Run Block, Strength, Speed, Agility
OG/C* - Run Block, Pass Block, Strength, Speed, Agility
TE - Hands, Strength, Speed, Agility, Run Block, Pass Block
WR - Speed, Hands, Agility, Strength, Run Block, Pass Block
CB - Speed, Agility, Hands, Tackle, Strength
LB - Tackle, Speed, Agility, Strength, Hands
DT - Strength, Tackle, Speed, Agility, Hands

Brooks - do you recognizee this? Does it look accurate to you? Of course I immediately notice a glaring omissions, ie INT; but other than that it looks about right.
Brooks, where would you place INT? If you don't want to go down each position, how about just for QBs and DB's?

They're all still pretty close but I would put INT and SKILL on the list for every player. Not sure where in the list because after you get past the first or second attribute everything else is pretty similar in weight. But these lists are also very dependent on what kind of team you're assembling, formations used, etc.

I dont recognize it either, but a lot of the online leagues have guides like this on their forums.

I agree with brooks that it is not far off, and depending on what you want strategy and playwise things differ a bit.

There are a lot of factors that matter in the most recent versions and listing them all isnt really feasible because many of them interact both in specific situations, with other ratings of the player and with other ratings of the team or the opponent, however, here is my take.

(notice this is very rough, and *do not* take it as evangelical knowledge - AND these arent in prioritized order)

QB
Primary: Arm, Accuracy, Intelligence
Seconday: Speed (for dropping back, or if you wanna run with your QB), Agility+Strength (countering sacks/tackles), Hands (avoiding fumbles)

RB
Primary: Speed, Agility, Strength
Secondary: Hands, Pass Block

FB - Strength, Speed, Hands, Run Block, Pass Block, Agility
in different combinations depending on whether you wanna block, run or catch

OL
Primary: Pass Block, Run Block, Strength,
Secondary: Speed, Agility

TE - Hands, Strength, Speed, Agility, Run Block, Pass Block
in different combinations depending on whether you wanna block or catch

WR
Primary: Speed, Hands, Agility
Speed isnt as important as many think, you can do well running a possession type passgame with endless 8 yard catches.

DB
Primary: Speed, Agility, Tackle
Secondary: Hands, Strength

LB
Primary: Tackle, Speed, Agility, Strength,
Secondary: Hands

DL
Primary: Strength, Tackle, Speed
Secondary: Agility, Hands

Then there is intelligence. In the new versions of this game intelligence matters A LOT, especially for QB of course, but also A LOT for defenders and runners and blockers.

Then there are the mental ratings, that also matter A LOT in the new versions. So pay attention to for instance, Team Player, Leadership, Competitiveness and Sportsmanship.

Finally, as Brooks mentioned, The position skills. They also matter a lot.

Also remember that none of this matters if the player isnt on the field, so...endurance.

1) Oh wow AKH, looking back on this, you really opened Pandora's box for me! In a good way...wow so things like "Leadership", "Team Player", etc really will affect performance, and therefore ultimately stats? Like noticeably? If so, that is AWESOME! This is DEFINITELY one thing this game has that no other Sim Football game ever has to my knowledge. I really thought these were mostly fluff...Sportsmanship being an exception, obvs being taken into account for penalties, with the rest of the "personality" stats having negligible effect, perhaps to be put in later. So great news!

2) I apologize in advance, I know I harp on this a lot, but I'm still trying to get it right in my head - JUST HOW MUCH DOES POSITION Skill really matter?? From the latest Overall Rating calculations in the game, position skill affect isn't as much as I thought it was in the past. For ex, for a RB, Speed is worth 50, position skill only 10. Is that accurate, IE position skill is roughly only as important as 1/5 of the most important rating for a player?

3) Brooks - Another thing I just noticed with your reply; you said INT and (very surprisingly) POSITION SKILL not important for every position; please, which positions are you referring to specifically? Would LOVE to know this (apologize for all the all-caps, this is just a very exciting post for me lol).

4) HAnds important for QB? Then why on the most recent custom overall formula has Hands = 0 weight? What should it be, 10?

Finally,,,-
5) This is a great post - BROOKS PLS PUT THIS SPECIFIC INFO(ratings per position ) IN FUTURE VERSIONS OF THE MANUAL THAT COMES WITH THE GAME!!!
-nuff said

I wrote that INT and SKILL should be included with every player. They're just not as important to your weights as the primary attribute for some positions.
