I am watching games to try to get a feel for my plays and some formations which aren't properly set up in the play creator (like Jumbo on offense and 52 on defense). And I'm watching a game and it's 3rd and 16. We blitz and get a 10-15 yard sack, but there is offsides on the offense. We take the 5 yard penalty and repeat third down instead of taking the result of the play, which would leave a 4th and 25-30. Another time, on offense, we throw a 62 yard TD pass on a 2nd and 2, but there is encroachment or offsides or something, and we take the penalty and first down instead of the TD...As I've watched a few more games, I see this happen EVERY time.
It's important to have penalties work better... a team has a choice, and should somewhat intelligently make the choice. It seems no choice is being given on penalties currently. Simply, some penalties are automatically enforced, while others allow a choice of choosing the play or the penalty. In essence, right now, a penalty on a play HELPS the penalized team. This should, 100%, NEVER be the case.
Sorry for the ranting style here... VERY frustrated as a penalty kept us from going 16-0 in the last game of the season. Just saying penalty results need to be fixes, so that they only hurt the penalized team, not the team that did not have the penalty... it should never benefit the penalized team.
