Salary Cap Question

Salary Cap Question

Postby bioeagle » Wed Jan 20, 2021 7:04 pm

I'm running a simple 6 team league. At the beginning of year 3, every team is at LEAST $35 million over the salary cap and UNDER the 53 man roster. Is this how it is supposed to be? I really don't understand.

I guess what I am asking is how do I run/set up a realistic league where the teams can afford a full roster without going 30-50% OVER the salary cap in two seasons? How should I set it up?

It's not really easy for us to say. Take your cap, divide it by 53 and that's the avg contract you're shooting for. If you have too high a min and max contract then players will ask for a lot more and blow through the cap. The most common mistake I see is for people to set maximum contracts to 30-50 million to mirror the NFL. That will NOT work in DDSPF as that effectively raises the rates for all players by 300% but I doubt you're raising the cap the same amount. The game doesn't have a good way of handling 30 million maxes for QB and 4 million maxes for everyone else.
