12/18: We play #3 seed Marquette, 6-3, for the title. They can score outside but they do not rebound well.

Game time: Up 8 after 10. They come back and tie it. 34-28 at the half. Their SF has 15. We're a lot better inside. Up 16 with 10 to play after a run.

80-63 and the Winter Jam title. 21, 14 for Burr, 12, 6, 7 for Brit, 15, 6 for Arms. We breezed through this tournament.

I just read an article in the Hartford Times. It seems an Englishman by the name of Rutherford says he has discovered something called “atoms.” They are too small to be seen but they make up everything in the universe. Stranger still, they are made up of even tinier particles. This sounds rather far fetched to me.

1/8/1912: An unbelievable 75-36 win over #25 North Carolina here. 36 points! 18, 8, 3 foe Burr, 17, 8, 1, 4 for Hart, 12, 8 for Arms. Only 7 turnovers and total control inside.

We visited Texas Tech and defeated them 72-62. It was close for a bit more than 35 minutes. 15, 16 for hart, 17, 7, 4, 3 for Brit, 10, 15, 5 for Burr, 13, 5, 6 for Nash. 60 rebounds!

86-55 over Kansas ST here in our final pre-conference game. 19, 12, 4 for Burr, 16, 12, 2, 4, 5 for Hart. +28 rebounds, 9 turnovers.
Unfortunately, starting Forward Jeb Burr strained a hamstring. He will mis our first two Conf. A games, both against top 10 teams.

We end pre-conf play at 13-0, #6, NET #2.

+23.9 PPG, #1 in margin. An amazing +18.1 in RBs; we're first in rebounds and 1st in rebound margin. -5.5 turnovers, 11.7. +7.5 assists. +5.1 steals.

Milt Hart leads us in scoring with 14.7. Jeb Burr gets 14.5. Ivan Brit gets 14.2. Burr leads in rebounding with an impressive 11.9.

1/22: In the Conf. A opener we lose in overtime at Duke, 51-64. It was back and forth in a defensive battle all the way in regulation with
Milt Hart hitting a 12 footer at the end of regulation. Then in overtime we simply fell apart and did not score a single point. We played good defense but aside from Hart's 21, no one else was able to score. It was a very sloppy game, 20 turnovers to their 26.

We defeated #9 Villanova at home. 16, 2, 6, 3 for PG Rick Nash, 21 for Brit. We out played them both inside and out.

Jeb Burr will be back in the lineup for our next game.

A second loss, 61-75, at #17 Purdue, tells us that this could be a difficult season. 19 each for Hart and brit, and that was most of our weak offense. They controlled the inside.

A very needed road win vs. #11 Texas, 74-57. We played very good defense. 22, 15 for Burr, 19, 14, 6, 3 for Hart.

New year, new music. “Moonlight Bay” will certainly be played for many a year!

2/5: Conf. A is TOUGH!

We beat #19 Baylor 76-50. It was never close. 22, 5, 6, 4 for Ivan Brit, 19, 11 for Hart.

77-94 at #16 Memphis. We were only down 4 at the half but they ran away from us in the 2nd. 29, 4, 2, 4 for Burr, 21, 9, 6, 5, 5 blocks for Brit.

Big home win over #2 Wisconsin, 70-62. We led nearly all the way. 18, 5, 6, 4 for Brit, 13, 11 for Hart, 10, 9, 3, 3, 4 blocks for Burr. +20 in the paint.

Then a home loss to #1 Kansas, 71-79. They took an early lead and we never got closer than the final score. 21, 3, 4, 4, 3 blocks for Brit, 12, 14 for Hart. They were better inside.

We're 17-4, 4-4. tied for 6th place. #5, NET #5. I suspect our ranking will drop.

“You're a single man now, Coach Clark.”

“Not you too, Mrs. Murphy!”

“I'm just saying. You're not getting any younger. If you're to be a family man, the time is now!”

While she's right, I AM 38, I'm just not interested.

2/19: 61-52 at #25 Iowa, a great road win. It was close all the way but we did enough to win. 25, 6, 4, 4 for Brit, but 7 TOs. 13, 6 for Burr.

We beat #4 Michigan ST here, 77-58. We led all the way. 16, 13 for Hart, 12, 11, 3, 4 for Burr. 11 TOs and we were much better inside.

57-79 at #2 Gonzaga, in a game we were never in. 12, 14 for Hart. We shot a miserable 27.3%.

Then a terrific 82-80 win at #8 Kentucky. 16 lead changes, 11 ties, and Milt Hart hit the winning 12 footer with less than a second to play.
He had 18 and 6. We were +11 from the line and that was the difference. The rest of the stats were pretty even.

We're 20-5, 7-5, alone in 5th in Conf. A. Still #5. NET #4.

It is an election year, and a very complicated one. President Taft is running for re-election against the Democrat, Woodrow Wilson. But the complication comes from the fact that former President Roosevelt has formed a third party and he is running as well. The “experts” say that the Republican vote is bound to be so split that Wilson should have no trouble winning.

3/5: Strong finish to the regular season!

87-74 over #18 Alabama here. We were up by 4 at the half and finished strong. 20, 12, 1, 4, 4 blocks for Burr, 20, 11, 1, 3 for Hart, 17, 3, 3 for sub guard Todd Hask. Strong inside play.

56-48 vs. #9 Duke here. Very low scoring first half, 24-12, and they never caught us.

Then a great road win, 84-66 at #13 Villanova. We took an early lead and never let up. 23, 6, 2, 3 for Brit, 16, 9 for Burr.

Our last regular season game was a 54-42 win over #20 Purdue here. Another defensive battle. 14, 5, 8 for Brit, 12, 13 for Hart.

We end the regular season at 24-5, 11-5, alone in third place in Conf. A. We're ranked #4, NET #2.

+13.3 PPG, +11.8 RBs, -4.6 TOs but a poor 13.6.

Ivan Brit led us in scoring with 15.3. Hart had 14.3, and Burr 12.4. Hart led in RBs with 10.0 and Burr had 9.8.

The Conf. A tournament will not be easy.

3/9: We play #11 seed, #11 ranked Tennessee, 21-9, 7-9, in the quarter finals. Their starting SF is out. We're strongly favored in this game. We think we have a big edge inside.

3/10: Back and forth early. 36-37 at the half. Burr has 3 fouls and we need to play better. A run to start the second half. We get the lead to 20!

81-68. 21, 3, 6, 4 for Brit, 11, 14 for hart, 9, 13 for Burr. 16 for sub Todd Hask. Big edge inside.

(Author's Note: I accidentally ended my “Hereafter” association. I mistakenly saved this one under that one's name- both versions. I checked the back ups but no luck. Damn!)

3/12: #5 seed, #4 ranked Wisconsin, 26-6, 10-6 for the title. We won by 8 at home. We were +20 in the paint and that was the difference. It will be their back court vs. our inside game.

Game time: Close early. Down 2 after 10. 32-30 at the half. 6th man Dane Arms has 10 and 5. They start fast in the second and build a 10 point lead. Down 12 with 10 to play.

64-71. We got as close as two points twice. 21, 8 for Arms, 15, 8, 1, 3, 4 for Hart. They beat us outside but they also beat us inside, which is what did us in.

#3, NET #2. Do we dare hope for a #1 seed?

#1 South. We play #16 Utah, 16-15.

3/17: Up 14 after 10. 43-17 at the half. 13, 12 for Burr. This game is over early. The subs get a lot of minutes.

88-62. 25, 15, 5, 4 blocks for Burr, 19, 13, 1, 5 for Hart. 51 RBs.

“Ragtime Cowboy Joe” is a fun song.

3/18: #9 seed North Dakota, 24-7, is our second round opponent. They're better outside than inside.

3/19: Up 15 after 10. 56-22 at halftime. We are scoring at will. 12 for Varo, 11 for Brit.

94-66. It was never competitive. 16, 5, 7, 4, 3 blocks for Burr. All 5 starters had 10 or more.

The games should get considerably more competitive as we move to the round of 16.
