7/17: We offer to 3 guards and 4 bigs.
8/7: Wade Brow is #17 on the Norton list.
“I really think we should get married.”
“It doesn’t make sense, Jess. You live in North Carolina and I live in CT.”
“We can live together from early April until late August and we’ll find ways to see each other the rest of the year.”
“It’s too soon. Let’s keep it like this for awhile. Maybe the UConn job will open up. I mean Coach Calhern is 72.”
8/15: Von is back in CT as the football preseason is about to start. She’s back to work. We text every day and phone almost every day but I miss seeing her.
9/11: We lose a guard.
9/18: We get 4, lose 2. We get 2 guards and 2 bigs.
Competitive schedule.
9/25: We get 2 bigs, lose a guard. We still need a guard.
There aren’t any guards we want so we’ll save the scholarship.
10/2: 1st day of practice. We’re better than last year inside and we have our starting backcourt returning.
We change our minds on recruiting and go after a C.
10/9: We get the C but he’s iffy on hitting our SAT score.
Von managed to get here for a couple of days during the week. It was great to see her.
11/14: We start tomorrow. Here’s the lineup:
Senior Wade Brow is back at the Point. He may be our best player.
Junior Fred Jeff is back at SG. We’d like him to score a little more.
#3 guard is soph Pete Turr. We don’t lose much when he comes in. Senior Tod Hart has never really been the player we hoped he’d be.
Senior Jon Aker is back at SF. He’s a solid player.
Senior Ken Star, a transfer from Boston College where he was a three year starter, is at PF. He does everything well.
Junior Marc Wils is a transfer from Texas. He has looked very good in practice.
Soph Al Deay is a transfer from Florida. He looks really good. Frosh Len Rain would start on a lot of teams. Senior Pat Fore is a good rebounder.
