February Player of the Month – Jason London, Washington Wizards – 34.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.8 blocks per game.
February Rookie of the Month – Paul Gilbert, San Antonio Spurs – 17.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.7 blocks per game.
Some decent trades at the deadline, nothing earth shattering but some solid deals.
Chicago trade:
C Ryan Wadley
Phoenix trade:
SG Greg Lavin
Winner – Phoenix. Not a good trade for either as both players are 34 years old and not very good any more but at least Wadley has a team option next season unlike Lavin who has two full years left.
Dallas trade:
C PJ Zimmerman
C Jason Fredrick
SG Jason Allen
SF Quinn Kelly
Detroit trade:
PG Brandon Oliver
2036 2nd round pick
Winner – Dallas. Fredrick and Kelly aren’t with the Pistons any more and the other two are downright terrible. Oliver on the other hand is now slotted as the Mavericks starting shooting guard. ‘Nuff said.
Indiana trade:
PG Marlon Izzo
New York trade:
SF Mike Joseph
2036 2nd round pick
Winner – Indiana. Joseph is now starting at SF while Izzo is the 12th man for a terrible, terrible Knicks squad. Another blunder by New York and another steal from the Pacers.
Chicago trade:
PG Leroy Nolan
Toronto trade:
PF Bill Parker
2036 2nd round pick
Winner – Toronto. Even though Parker is an $8 million expiring contract, Nolan is a much better asset. He’s injured now with a bruised thigh but when he gets better he’ll slot into the starting PG position.
As much as Memphis has been bad this season they gave us a huge scare as neither team had a double digit lead. We sneak past them 122-118 behind Cort and Ken’s 66 points and 17 assists to save us. All five starters for the Grizz were over a dozen points while Anthony Allison had 20 points in 20 minutes. This was a scare that we need to learn from and put past us.
Brooklyn Nets 53-9
No such luck for Memphis when they came to our home a few days later as we stomp them early and often to breeze 121-87. Cort was amazing with 37 points and 9 three pointers while Matias had 10 points and 3 assists in only 6 minutes. Rashon Tart had 19 points but didn’t get any help from his friends.
Brooklyn Nets 54-9
We push past another below average team to beat the Lakers 126-97. Cort had his third game over 32 points with 36 points and 11 assists with Ken adding 23 points and 7 assists. Lars Ray and Jim Meeking combined for 50 points but no other Laker had a double digit game.
Brooklyn Nets 55-9
The Wizards have been firing since they got the headcase Jason London, scoring well over 120 points on multiple occasions. They had 127 points in our game as London went 22/27 for 55 points and 6 rebounds but they still lost as we score 139 points to win. Cort had 31 points as six other Nets were in double figures, highlighted by Abel Williams’ 11 points in 11 minutes.
Brooklyn Nets 56-9
Cort Majishun’s output in the month of March has been 32, 37, 36, 31 and now 33 points as we sneak past the Sixers in a scrappy affair 107-103. Robert Jackson filled in for Marlin and Sal who both fouled out with 15 points and 5 rebounds while Luigi added 9 rebounds. The reason those two fouled out was Justin Robinson and Robert Williams who combined for 44 points on 20/27 free throws.
Brooklyn Nets 57-9
Another dodgy team gets the once over by us as we smash the Knicks 108-96. Cort’s run over 30 points or more ends but he still finishes with 28 points as Marlin and Ken combine for 39 points. Dave Coulter led New York with 18 points while Chris Jones shot 4/15 from the field for only 9 points and 5 rebounds.
Brooklyn Nets 58-9
That’s 15 wins in a row as we outlast the Rockets 122-113 as Cort gets back to his best with 36 points and 8 assists but he gets a friend in Marlin with 24 points and 14 rebounds. The last few games it’s been Cort watching and getting the scraps when he can’t score. Curtis Anderson had 15 points in 12 minutes. Cameron Brown is a bonafide superstar now and had 30 points in the loss.
Brooklyn Nets 59-9
I asked this question a while ago when we were 49-9 but will it be our 60th win or our 10th loss against the Sixers? Well Cort had 34 points and 7 rebounds as we blow out Philly 117-92 to get our 60th. Ken added 24 points and Sal and Luigi put up 24 points and 14 rebounds between them. Tom Bryant outplayed everyone on Philly’s roster with 22 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds off the bench.
Brooklyn Nets 60-9
Well damn. I know we need to lose every now and again but when we lose our tenth game to a pretty average Kings outfit it hurt a tiny bit, going down 126-122. Cort fouled out with 39 points and 13 assists while Sal and Marlin had 10/10 and 11/11 respectively. It was the Kings starting five who did the job, scoring 103 points with Jaymes Kincaid leading the way with 26 points. It seems that Kincaid and Joe Adras can work together, for the time being at least.
Brooklyn Nets 60-10
That’s two losses in a row, the first time since late December as the Pacers take us out 124-111. Ish Faye was spectacular with 31 points and 14 rebounds while Gerrod Phelan added 32 points on worse shooting. Cort was our best again with 22 points and 12 assists but Sal and Marlin were held all night because of foul shooting and our bench didn’t pick up the slack.
Brooklyn Nets 60-11
This team seems to have put the cruise control on which just isn’t on as we haven’t got home court advantage yet as we lose again, this time to the Suns 124-114. Pete Anderson went 12/15 for 27 points while Tony Solverson, the point guard that no one wanted, had 16 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists in the win. Ken was our best with 28 points but we shot 40% to their 52%.
Brooklyn Nets 60-12
What is going on?!? That’s four losses in a row, all at home as the Pacers outrun us 134-129. Michael Harmon was the star this time with 29 points, 13 assists and 6 steals but was helped by Ish Faye and Josiah Williams’ 54 points and 18 rebounds. We had eight players in double figures but our leader only had 9 points and 5 turnovers. We need to turn this form around and fast as I want our stars to have as much rest as possible before the playoffs.
Brooklyn Nets 60-13
What. Reggie Smith had 33 points and 10 rebounds as the freaking Grizzlies beat us for our fifth loss in a row 116-109. What.
Brooklyn Nets 60-14
Phew. I shouldn’t say phew I should say about damn time. Jason London goes 25/39 for 59 points but we limited everyone else to win 109-98. Curtis Anderson and Abel Williams start for John Brown and Salvador Rios and even though Curtis had a rough night (guarding London is rough for anyone) Abel did quite well with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Cort was our best with 20 points, 12 assists and 8 rebounds. I can’t believe how good Jason London has done in Washington as that’s his third 50+ point game in March alone!
Brooklyn Nets 61-14
With seven games to go we can’t be caught even though we tried our hardest to get caught. We have a nine game lead over Miami in the East and a seven game lead over Dallas in the West so we will have at least a tie of HCA if we lose all seven games. Indiana are a half game back of Miami with Charlotte on the bottom of the East at 17-57. Minnesota and OKC are six games back of Dallas while the Spurs have taken the last spot away from the Lakers at 24-48.

Last Round of NBA Draft Prospects
1. PG Gamal Hicks (Houston), Freshman, 6’4”, 203lbs
2. C Shaheen Mason (Western Kentucky), Sophomore, 6’10”, 273lbs
3. C BJ Watson (High Point), Freshman, 6’9”, 263lbs
4. SF James Carroll (Florida State), Freshman, 6’5”, 195lbs
5. SG Andre Betts (Tennessee), Freshman, 6’2”, 194lbs
Thoughts – That top three will probably be the top three at the draft but the guy everyone has been talking about is the sixth ranked Ryan Cornell, a point guard out of Michigan State. He’s 6’4” and a freshman and is averaging 23.7 points, 10.3 assists and 9.0 rebounds per game for the Spartans. Ridiculous numbers and should be in the running for a top five spot.
