You may want to actually use a FREE program called MDB viewer, it is easier to download and use. If so, here it is.
1) Download from
http://www.alexnolan.net/software/mdb_viewer_plus.htm (bottom righthand corner of page)
2) Go to C:\Wolverine Studios\DDSCB2018 folder (assuming non-steam version) and make a copy of the default.dat file just in case you make any mistake, you can restore the backup
3) Go to where you downloaded and run the EXE (no install even required)
4) Open the program, then choose File->Open
5) Make sure in the right hand corner under file type, select ALL Files (this will allow you to see .DAT files)
6) Open the default.date file in the C:\Wolverine Studios\DDSCB2018 folder (assuming non-steam version)
7) Now you'll see all the database tables. If your adding names, you'll want to add records to NonUSFirstName, NonUSLastName, USFirstName, and USLastName tables
8) Close out of the program
9) Go into the basketball game and start a new association (must be new, any changes you make will not be added to existing associations)
If you still want to use OpenOffice, then these are the basic instructions
1) Download and install OpenOffice
2) Go to the folder of the default.date file..in my case it is C:\Wolverine Studios\DDSCB2018 (assuming non-steam version)
3) Before you do anything, make a backup of default.dat in case anything happens
4) Rename the default.dat file to default.mdb (needs to have MS access extension)
5) Go into OpenOffice
6) Choose the database program
7) Choose connect to existing database radio button
8) From the database list, select MS Access
9) Then hit the Next button through various screens, but on the next one you have to Browse to your default.mdb file and select it
10) Hit Next and I typically choose the option not to save stuff, but not sure it matters.
11) Press the finish button. You may get option to save Office database, just choose anywhere...it really doesn't save he data there, I think its just a link to use it.
12) Now you'll see all the database tables. If your adding names, you'll want to add records to NonUSFirstName, NonUSLastName, USFirstName, and USLastName tables
13) Close out of the OpenOffice program
14) Go to the folder of the default.date file..in my case it is C:\Wolverine Studios\DDSCB2018
15) Rename the default.mdb file to default.dat (needs to have DAT extension for the game)
16) Go into the basketball game and start a new association (must be new, any changes you make will not be added to existing associations)
