I've never had that happen on the same team.

I do seem to recall that in some previous version of DDSCB there was a rash of duplicate names/players, but haven't see that in CB2017 or CB2018 yet.

I believe I have seen the same name on the same team, but don't recall if all their information was identical.

You may want to actually use a FREE program called MDB viewer, it is easier to download and use. If so, here it is.

1) Download from http://www.alexnolan.net/software/mdb_viewer_plus.htm (bottom righthand corner of page)
2) Go to C:\Wolverine Studios\DDSCB2018 folder (assuming non-steam version) and make a copy of the default.dat file just in case you make any mistake, you can restore the backup
3) Go to where you downloaded and run the EXE (no install even required)
4) Open the program, then choose File->Open
5) Make sure in the right hand corner under file type, select ALL Files (this will allow you to see .DAT files)
6) Open the default.date file in the C:\Wolverine Studios\DDSCB2018 folder (assuming non-steam version)
7) Now you'll see all the database tables. If your adding names, you'll want to add records to NonUSFirstName, NonUSLastName, USFirstName, and USLastName tables
8) Close out of the program
9) Go into the basketball game and start a new association (must be new, any changes you make will not be added to existing associations)

If you still want to use OpenOffice, then these are the basic instructions

1) Download and install OpenOffice
2) Go to the folder of the default.date file..in my case it is C:\Wolverine Studios\DDSCB2018 (assuming non-steam version)
3) Before you do anything, make a backup of default.dat in case anything happens
4) Rename the default.dat file to default.mdb (needs to have MS access extension)
5) Go into OpenOffice
6) Choose the database program
7) Choose connect to existing database radio button
8) From the database list, select MS Access
9) Then hit the Next button through various screens, but on the next one you have to Browse to your default.mdb file and select it
10) Hit Next and I typically choose the option not to save stuff, but not sure it matters.
11) Press the finish button. You may get option to save Office database, just choose anywhere...it really doesn't save he data there, I think its just a link to use it.
12) Now you'll see all the database tables. If your adding names, you'll want to add records to NonUSFirstName, NonUSLastName, USFirstName, and USLastName tables
13) Close out of the OpenOffice program
14) Go to the folder of the default.date file..in my case it is C:\Wolverine Studios\DDSCB2018
15) Rename the default.mdb file to default.dat (needs to have DAT extension for the game)
16) Go into the basketball game and start a new association (must be new, any changes you make will not be added to existing associations)

Got an error after adding a bunch of last names to the database i am thinking it might be due to the numbering being out of order, its also possible i skipped over some numbers so wonder if thats why i got the error... but not sure... when i put the original .dat file back in its working again (the game).... im redoing it and sorting by numerical order.... is it possible thats whats causing the game to crash... any ideas? im not at home and am currently doing it again at work adding last names to the default.dat file

Hard to say why...could be a number of things....corrupted file, maybe incorrect characters in name field, etc. I would make sure the ID field is unique (believe the database enforces it) and I would ensure ID number goes in order, although I don't know if it would crash if not. If you get an error the next time, would be good to post the error message which might provide a better clue. Also, when does it crash, what specific step in the season?

Ok , I did 2 test files one a short one with about 20 names and it worked then i did another one with over 1,500 namees which i regret doing cuz it took me all day to make an its giving me the same error

The error happens just as im about to finish setting up the game and when I click on advance i get the error that says

An unhandled exception occured: No current record

There are 2 things im thinking of that might be causing it but im just speculating

1) some of the names I added have an apostrophe like O'Neal or Sha'quan.... but i doubt thats the issue
2) Based on the error message "no current record" i thought of something.. what i did was opened the original default.dat file and looked the the row count at the bottom it matches up with what the actual amount of rows is row count shows 3,697 and there is actually 3,967 names.... now on mine it has the row count as 5,003 but i actually have 5004 names meaning i skipped a number.... im guessing that could be the issue?

Please let me know .. i can send you the default.dat file if you would like as well... and in the meantime im gonna start over again lol...

UPDATE 10:19 AM CST.... I have added about 400 names and am careful with the numbering so far so good i loaded the game no error so ill continue that was it i think that i had a number skipped and the row total did not equal the actual rows i had

Im having a new problem now... for some reason I cant get it to work with bloomingtons mode. When i added the names to the file i noticed that my default.dat is smaller in size than the original one that comes with the game.

After moving my default.dat file to the game the logos and courts as well as team names for bloomington mod dissapeared. When re reunning bloomingtons mod i can now see the courts/logos etc. but I cant see my names i just added to the defaut.dat file. So it seems like i cant figure out a way to use bloomingtons mod as well as my updated default.dat file with the new names i added. I did not touch any other sections of that .dat file so not sure why it is not working.

Any ideas?

ugghh... im guessing i need to add the names to the default.dat from bloomington's mod so ill have to start all over adding the names again>? Any quicker way to fix this

Correct....Bloomington has his own default.dat mod that contains all the changes for logos, team names, etc. So If you want to add names to it, you must add to Bloomington's file. There are ways to copy what you have from one default.dat file to another using the database tools, but would be too hard to explain. If you send me your default.dat file with all your name changes, I could probably add it to Bloomington's file in a matter of minutes. Send to slybelle@sbcglobal.net if you want to try. make sure to tell me in the email which tables you updated (i.e. just US names or other).
